Great idea, I'm one of those first timers! My biggest question is for the generator, it runs on gas, right? (We are in EDII, no electrical). Should we bring a gas can to refill it if it runs out, how much gas would it normally run on (we are renting a 27' wildwood or something like that, can't remember)? Just wanna make sure we are good to run it for A/C, etc for Thurs - Mon basically...

Can't we just get a really long extension cord and run it over to ED1? I'm sure there will be open electrical spots in ED1 since it won't fill up.

My question is how much "storage" space is there in an average RV? I'm trying to figure out how much stuff each of us can bring and how we'll store it in the RV....
I'm a hotel girl. This "camping" stuff is foreign to me :)
Also, on the shower trailers ~ can someone describe the inside? I did camping at the 3-Day (breast cancer walk) and their shower trailers had shower-curtained stalls inside and areas outside with sinks and mirrors. Is SC similar? And what's the water pressure like? (I hate wimpy showers!)

It's not like you will be running your gen the whole time you also have battery that will run your light and a few other accessorys you will mostly run the gen for the ac blow dryer microwave that kinda stuff and to recharge your batteries The gas in the generator should be enoph as long as it's not one of those that isn't part of the trailer but if your really worried about it just bring a gas can I can fill it for you if you need some I have a pump station on my traile and as far as storage goes I would pack like your not going to unpack just like in a hotel you are limmited on storage it's not like being At home but if you are renting make sure to ask it the trailer has pots and pans or if you need to bring your own

A couple of us are bringing extra tents (Trisa has a couple small ones) that I was thinking would be good for "stuff" storage. we will have showers in the RV, but if you don't wanna use those, or if they're crowded, the shower trailers DO have curtains, about 5 stalls including a handicapped (read: Bigger) one. Water pressure isn't great, but it's hot and you're clean, and trust me, you'll be appreciative of just that! There weren't mirrors (I used my little compact one) and I think there were outlets, but not 100%. We will have that in the RV's though.

Generators...
...See UKNOWME's post for trailers, they should have a tank that you fill up and it should last all weekend. Your rental guy will most likely fill it, but its worth asking just incase. With RV's (motorhomes, coaches, RVs with engines) most generators pull from the main gas tank and will stop when the tank gets below 1/4 so you dont get stranded where ever you are. So make sure that tank is full also.
Showers...
...Although it is very convienent, i wouldnt plan on everyone using your RV shower. If you have more than 3-4 people that will use a lot of water and fill up your grey (dirty water) tank. Both will cost you money if you run out of water or need to pump your tank. If you use your RV shower you will have to take a quick "camp" shower to conserve water and if your the second person in line you might not get a warm shower cuz most RV/Trailers have only a 5gal water heater so it might be a long process if multiple people try to get ready at the same time. I cant speak for the shower stalls last year cuz i just used my neighbors kiddie pool while they were gone.
Storage...
Things got pretty tight last year in my RV. Not alot of storage if your at max capacity for sleeping. Pack light and just store the stuff on your bed, or in the front seats, or the outside tent is a great idea.

Would it be unrealistic to think that we could make a trip back to the car (wherever it will be parked) to retrieve extra clothes/supplies when needed?
I'm packing for three - I've never camped before and I'm a known "over-packer"....but I do have a wagon :)

Just don't overpack too much. I'm going to be bringing most of the necessities for the RV's. Check the RV discussion as much as possible on FB for who's bringing what, very important! Not sure how far the cars are (if it's the same distance as tent camping was, it's an easy walk). We will also have one vehicle with a tow pass, so we can use it for storage. My friend TJ has a larger vehicle (Dodge Caliber) so maybe we'll use the tow pass on his.

That depends on it if it is a 24' or a 40' rv.

My RV (a 28' Fleetwood Tioga motorhome) shares the gas tank between the engine and the generator so I am just going to make sure to fill-up on gas in Indio before pulling into festival parking.

can i fit 8 if they can sleep on the floor?
or maybe even know the bed says one person... mayb 2 can fit in it? lol

For any RV renter... Rental companies will say you can sleep 2 people on the dinette. Good Luck on that. Floor space is limited. I always think you can sleep 1-2 less than what they say. Go check out your specific unit and put it in "sleep"mode. Put down all the beds, open all the slides and see for yourself. If worse comes to worse you can add a tent to your space and make a few peeps sleep outside.
First timers... Make everybody use the shower trailer to save $$$ on water and pumping. The trailers were fine. There's decent pressure and it's plenty hot. Also no #2 in the RV. The walls are paper thin and it will stink for quite awhile.
I have never had an issue with packing too much. You'll probably leave most of your crap outside once you get there leaving plenty of room to sleep inside.

So they say it is 20' wide. Let pray for that. When they had them at 15' wide, they ended up being 11-12', we barely fit ours in, since we have the extra wide 5th wheel. They guys told me they "pace" them off and are not accurate. ahahahhaha..NICE!!!

I have a little 19' beast that sleeps 7, but lets just say that don't apply to men! The arrangments would be a little too close for comfort. Going with my family (wife and 2 kids) and two buddies this time around, we plan on sleeping 1 on the table bed, one on the couch bed, 8 year old on the top bunk, and our 4 year old in with my wife and i in the main bed. A small couple could fit on the table bed, but too uncomfortable on the couch bed. Most RV's have the same type of beds, regardless of what length they are. Wish I had a damn slide-out to make some room! I also wish MINE WAS AS LONG AS UKNOWME's....ha ha ha
But for a place to crash, cram em' in...better than nothing! I've crashed on floors a few times...hell the back of a truck would be comfy this time of year in INDIO! Throw me a blanket and I am out!

OK to Calichristina and anyone else renting RV's. I just spoke with Albert's RV's (where we're renting ours from). Here's the low down:
If you are bringing extra toilet paper, make sure you get RV grade TP. You can get it from an RV store OR Wal-Mart. That's it according to them.
They are supplying a generator and two extra gas cans. Not sure if that's for our large group or any renter though.
PM me with any specific questions if you can't reach them. I got a lot answered :-)

Definately ALWAYS use RV TP! or you will clog it up.
Something to ask the rental company. Do they charge $7 per gallon of fuel used that they supply? I am sure they do, so if so, bring a 5gl jug of your own if you have one for the extra you may need, not that you should go thru a whole genie tank of fuel..but just in case.
And also IF they DO charge for fuel used, you should try to refill it with your own $2.95 fuel before they pick it up and save the extra charges. As for the propane, they also charge for what is used up, but that you can't bring extra and refill on site.

No, he didn't mention a charge at all, just said if we run out we would have to fill it up ourselves but he thought we should be good. There was some confusion with our rentals, so I think he was trying to be extra nice. Said he's giving me the quietest generators they have too.

Make sure your rental company will go onsite to fix any mishaps during your stay. I rented a motorhome for 08 and the generator crapped out. Remember it was 100 degrees by 8am? Fortunately my rental company came out from Anaheim and repaired it. I was inside the venue and the repairman was able to get into the camping area, I didn't have to miss the show.

Really, all you will run the Genie for is to recharge the batteries, and to run a hairdryer. Just watch your battery power and when it gets about 1/2 way low, turn on the genie, and run for a while, then turn back off. Saves gas. Unless you want to run the A/C, then yes, you will run it for a while, but really, you will be in the festival from noon on right? And you cant run them at night, quiet time in ED1..but if in ED2 run it all you want, just dont run out.
I spend a week dry camping in Glamis with 7 people and we never run out of fuel.

Yes, exactly...just keep an eye on your battery level, cuz if you dont start then genie before you kill the batteries, you need to jump the genie.
I can go for a long time during the day without starting my genie to recharge
but just to confuse you..:) Some motorhomes run theirs off of propane! My brothers Monaco does. But that is usually in Diesel pushers

Propane runs the stove, oven and the hot water heater. If you want hot water, just flip the "gas heater" switch (they should show you all this) and heat it up, then turn it off. Mine heats up in about 15 minutes to HOT HOT HOT!!! and stays hot for a few hours. You dont leave the heater on all the time, just when you need it.
The oven usually needs to be turned to "light" then you take a match to the burner IN the oven, then turn the knob to the degrees you want. The actual stove top, will click and ignite as you turn the appropriate knob. Hope that is clear?
If you want to call me, pm me for my phone number. I do all my rV stuff on my own...hubby just unloads the toys..hahaha Daddy brought me up doing all of it for myself too. So I know all the ins/outs of how to run an RV and drive/pull one. I would be happy to answer anyquestions.

yeah..but why waste it? Especialy if they have to pay for what they use. And I am sure they are not gonna charge the going rate of $2.59 or so, but a much higher amount to refill it...just like on a rental car gas. I know I have two 5gl and on a cold week in the mnts...or where ever and I want to run the heater, I dont want to run out. hell at SC, they weather will probably keep it hot on its own!!

We call em "whore showers". Get wet, turn off water, lather, rinse
In my dads motorhome (which we are using) holds only 40 gls!! my 5th wheel holds 150gls! So in the motorhome, we don't shower in the coach, we use the showers at SC. We save the water for dishes, the toilet and washing hands and feet.
yes you can refill the water, $1 a gallon I believe..BUT REMEMBER THIS..unless your grey and black tank have the room left to accommodate a water refill after using what you already have, you will also need to dump. There are dumpers that drive around also. But I heard $50? could be wrong, and it is free usually at various areas outside the park that you can dump on the way home, but with a rental, they should be dumping for you after pickup
HINTS: when you do dishes, do the same as when you "whore shower"
Brushing teeth..don't leave the water running either
I don't keep the water pump on if just peeing in the toilet, no need, it flushes
down fine. but if doing the dirty deed, def need the water for that

Are you allowed to bring a grill or camping stove to cook on? THis is my first time at Stagecoach, and I read that you could not, but it was unclear if they were talking about the campoing area or the concert area.
If you can't bring one or the other, how are you supposed to eat dinner?

Both areas prohibit grills. If you are RVing you can use the stove inside the RV to cook. In the tent camping forum, they sell food (expensive) or you can bring either cold food (cold pizza, sandwiches, etc) or at REI and such places they sell the meals that heat in the bags (spaghetti, beef stroganoff, etc) and they are actually pretty darn good!

I'm bringing those again Chev. Gotta feed my guys and gals before they go off to party after the concert!
No grills/camping stoves allowed. You have to bring cold food or use the RV stove/microwave. You eat in the venue too, so plan your food for the amount of time you'll actually be in camp. Include something for 'just returned to camp after the concerts and I'm starving".

REI or sporting good stores that have camping sections. You'll find a limited supply of the meals at Wal-Mart. I have only seen the 'stove' at REI. It looks like this:
http://www.rei.com/product/703589
I got spaghetti, lasagna, bacon & eggs and I'm not certain but I might have chicken and rice. Don't do the mac & cheese, it's gross. Use a little less water than it calls for and let it cook about 5 minutes longer than it calls for. It actually tastes pretty decent and it's awesome when you get back to camp after the shows and you're hungry and cold to have hot food in about 15 minutes.
