NO CHAIRS!?!?

I've never heard of anything so stupid. No chairs allowed in the festival or blankets. The only thing you're allowed to bring in and sit on is a beach towel...for 12+ freakin' hours! And the other music festival is the weekend before...so there isn't going to be any grass left! Ridiculous!

Yes...I have bitched a lot about things, as I should against pop-country montrosities.

But then I was still thinking..."well, all I have to do is listen to what I like"...and..."it's maybe once in a lifetime, maybe I can swing the $500"...and also..."I can cut it down to one day, Saturday's the best in my book".

But then I saw the chair rule...sorry...I really don't like standing or lounging in dirt for 12+ hours. They should have allowed beach chairs.

sans chairs and tarps is pretty ridiculous...they probably should consider the Telluride Bluegrass Festival (its only been around for 34 years) approach in this area....only lowback chairs allowed in front of the sound booths...if they can roll a basketball under the chair they'll kindly ask you to move the chair behind the sound booths..tarps no blankets.......Pretty simple to adopt the rules/and regulations of a well established clean fun festival...have attended a couple times in recent years!!!!!

Aren't we all glad bob is not coming? Good thing chairs aren't allowed! I was under the impression it was grass, not dirt, but who cares as long as he's not there to try to ruin it for other people!

Merritt Mountain Music Festival in BC allows you to bring camping chairs into the G.A. area and pretty much everyone does. Those that don't stand behind them. It works out really well. The Gorge in Washington allows blankets or chairs and it works out just fine.

It's not a park...it's an area that they throw grass seed out on several weeks before the show. It takes too much water to keep the area green year round.

So...yes there's grass...but consider it's like a new lawn...and 75,000 people are going to be all over it just one week prior to this concert.

It'll be dirt by the time of this concert.

As we post, the winter horse shows are in progress or about to begin at the Empire Polo Club. This includes polo and international show jumping. I would think that the groundkeepers repair that ground daily during the show and beyond. This type of facility is not going to let the grounds turn into Kansas farm ground!!! Like I said before if they duplicate Telluride as far as tarps and chairs, everything would be fine!!!

Was there Wednesday. The grass looks good. They ride Polo horses on it for Gods sake. If they don't turn it to dirt, a few Thousand people the weekend before won't either. Cant understand why no chairs other than maybe in the past the Coachella Music Festival peeps used them on each other. Look on the bright side they are still allowing Chap Stick.

do you people really wanna be walking over chairs all day? Think about it....if you allowed chairs, first everyone and their mother would try to bring one in, making the place seem cluttered, second...there would be a million people asking how big, how small, how many etc....it would be a mad house. Enjoy yourselves, take a stroll around the grounds, and have a seat on the grass...it's not that bad.

Although 2 festivals on successive weekends will put more than usual stress on the turf. I think it will hold up a little better than you think. Do you have some experience at this venue which would lead you to believe otherwise?

It really would have been nice to know this when my fiancee and I ordered tickets this morning. I went through the do's and don'ts at least three times before we ordered tickets and nowhere does it mention chairs. I was specifically looking for this. If anyone knows where this stipulation is, please advise. I am really tempted to cancel my order with VISA. I'm not bitching, but this is very odd for something of this nature.

I have attended the NOLA Jazz Festival five or six times and go to the Austin City Limits Music Festival at Zilker Park in September each year. There is absolutely no problem with folding chairs, except for the areas immediately adjacent to the stage (which are VIP sections anyway). 70,000 people go through these events and chairs are the least of security's worries.

What is the reason for this?

I don't mind the no chairs deal...but how are the rows going to be marked? Are we gonna be like taped in with caution tape or something??

Can someone from the Festival give a direct answer regarding the use of beach chairs or lawn chairs. They are NOT LISTED in the do's and don't rules for the event. It makes a big difference in a 10-12 hour day!
I look forward to an official reply. Thanks!
