I just saw Glen Campbell in Laughlin, NV. The 71-year-old looked great & his voice & guitar playing were great......but for all but 2 songs (Southern Nights & Rhinestone Cowboy) he needed a prompter so he could remember his lyrics. Kind of sad, considering he's been singing the same songs since the 60s & 70s. He tried 3 different times, and he could never remember (without help) the names of his 4 band members. At the beginning of each song, he asked or was told what key to start in. All those years of drugs & alcohol have taken their toll. If you get a chance to see him (and his wonderfully talented daughter) at Stagecoach, do so. He's funny & entertaining, for all the wrong reasons.
I remember watching the Glen Campbell T.V. show when I was a kid with my parents. Just like last year...This concert is overwhelming.
It is sad to see a performer not be up to all of our expectations...I saw James Brown a couple of months before he passed away and he couldn't remember most of the words to his songs and when he did he slurred them.
