I think it's funny how mad some people are getting. Goldenvoice is a business, they need to do what they feel is best for the company and I'm not going to pretend to know reasons for things that they're doing, but I'm sure they have their reasons which I respect, wish them the best of luck, and thank them for all the good times in the past.

I don't feel bad for anyone here except for countrygurl who has to deal with all the fall out here. We still love ya, countrygurl!
I didn't consider this Adam, good call. I guess if we had an RV things MIGHT be different. I *personally* think it was a bad decision to limit WHO can come to a festival. I mean, everyone can GO, but where do they all stay when only a small portion live in the area? The hotels jack up their prices and sell out FAST. I'll miss Stagecoach, it's where I met some of the most amazing people in my life! But I can't get on board with the changes.
No matter what they say I've done, I ain't never had too much fun!

Look at the math on one of my past posts.

My mom and I considered going to County Thunder in Arizona a number of years ago... it's approx. 7 hours from my house, which is further then most of the group considering that show. So, the drive is going to be a bit longer. My only hesitation would be that the line-up hasn't been announced yet. And the Wisconsin show usually gets a better line-up IMO. It will be interesting to see what people think of it though. We've definitely looked into it previously, priced it out, considered the line-up, camping, etc. and decided against it.

Yeah I just priced out Country Thunder and it is less but not much. There's more of a hassle too so I guess depends if it is worth it. I wish they would announce it soon!

Yea but i would rather give my $1000 to anyone BUT GV! Plus country folk will make a party out of those extra days of travel. It's the principle of it!!

I agree it is very sad. I am bummed because we JUST sold our big toyhauler because the kids stopped motorcycle racing and I was taking my time deciding what type of trailer to buy. I had a RENTAL lined up from my government base rental, but now that won't work. We only take 4-6 pp usually anyway and we were only taking Curtis and I this year in a rental. I am not so bothered by the price, but now with the rental policy we CAN'T camp now. Who is going to make all the lemon drops, lol? I have been the HUGEST Stagecoach fan, from the very first day this message board came about; even writing the magazine article the 2nd year for my friends magazine raving about it and getting the word out there when they weren't selling out of camping and tickets, more than half the ED1 lot was EMPTY, some of remember those years. I am so disappointed in GV this year. (( we are definitely planning Country Thunder with EVERYONE that we have talked into SC, despite the rising costs. IF camping wasn't already sold out for them for this year we would be going there. SO 2014, we are moving the party up a few weeks and getting a caravan going to Arizona.... YEEHAW..

Well since that's not possible and with the prices this year, I think our group of 20+ is gonna do Country Thunder instead. We'll miss you Stagecoach!

I'm out too. For one thing, I can't afford it...I need to get about $3-$4K worth of orthodontic work done on my teeth and my teeth health are more important than going to Stagecoach. And for another thing, I just won't do it based on principle. It's not right that they took away on-site tent camping, and are making you a). buy an RV so you can camp there, and b). making you write a freaking ESSAY on why you should be allowed to camp onsite in your RV!!!

What's the point of announcing to the world that you are not going? I don't get it.

" I'm with you on that one. I think people like to whine in the hopes that the festival will cater their way. Remember earlier in the year when Indio was going to tax the festival and so Goldenvoice said they were going to leave? Well does anybody think that maybe the festival talked the city into letting them stay if they cut back on allowable spaces so that people will have to rent rooms and eat in the town. Makes sense. I don't camp at the festival anyway and a lof of the people who did, just went to hang out and not even go to the festival. I think it's a good idea to make the camping limited and more expensive. The best time I had at the festival was when there were less people acting like fools. Everybody remember, it's a music festival NOT a circus.

The point is to let them know that we are not going!! What is the point of doing any sort of protest? To invoke change. If SC sells out then it doesn't matter what we do on here. If it doesn't, then now they have the reasons why it failed and what they can do to remedy the situation.

Yes it is a music festival, but, the city can not accommodate everyone to attend the festival with out on-site camping. People do not want to commute daily to Indio. People want to be able to exit the festival and walk about 5 min - however long with in the campground back to their spot and relax. Not wait in a 2 hour taxi line to get back to a hotel that is 30 min away. This festival will not sell out, and, will be considered by AEG to be a failure. How bad it fails could determine if AEG even brings it back next year. We will just have to wait and see.

The thing that I find silly in all the recent articles by the Stagecoach promoters is that they're saying the whole change in camping is to get back to the music and discourage all the rowdiness. If it's all about the music now, why do you have to pay at least $800 to get a ticket that allows you to be close enough to actually see the performers on the Mane Stage?

    Hey Everybody,

I have been a LOYAL Stagecoach attendant for the last 5 of the 6 years. Last year my husband and i started off our new life together and our honeymoon at stagecoach! We were looking forward to spending our 1 year anniversary at the festival this year but with all the new rule changes we will not be attending. (

I was told my a coworker that the president of the festival or somebody along those lines has responded to some remarks on a board somewhere but i cant seem to find it. Has anybody read it or know where i could find it. Apparently he was pretty rude in his response. Like i said i havent read it yet so i dont know exactly what it says.

Read this carefully, with the understanding that Goldenvoice is a business trying to make money. These types of decisions are NOT off the cuff, but well thought out and planned. Just because we don't like the changes doesn't mean there aren't reasons to make them.

read this article. Paul Tollett, head Goldenvoice, said this: the camping rules for 2013 will NOT be changed for this year.

Yes I understand that but what makes me upset is that fact that I can't even use my parents/in-laws trailer to go and camp because i am not on the registration. Thats the part that I dont understand. Our last names are the same and it is registered to my previous address but yet since the RV itself is not in my name they will not allow me to participate in camping. Im sure there is a majority of the camper who are in the same boat as I am.

I know there is reasoning behind this rules and regulations but for those of us who have gone, enjoyed our time and stayed out of trouble we feel like we are getting the raw end of the deal. I have other things in my life to spend $10,000 on rather then buying an RV and registering it in my name when there is one I can use whenever I need (including the past 4 years at stagecoach).

We are out as well, just too expensive and they are making it seem like it is a luxury to be able to camp there with the lottery system. Country Thunder just opened up another area for camping but only 75 spots left as of 10 minutes ago. The spots are $150 for an RV spot and $99 for general admission for 4 days. I purchased 2 spots so we can have some room and 3 tickets and I still have $145 to put into the truck for gas until I will be even for what I would have to pay if I am chosen, for a 30 amp RV spot at stagecoach. I wish I was going to Indio but hello Florence, AZ here we come!!!

ANGIE!! CT isn't sold out! They put out more for sale this morning, and they've been offering spaces over the past week to anyone who calls in. Call and ask for Leann. She's helped our group. The customer service there is AMAAAAAZING! Come camp with us!!
