    Default Summer Fun 2012

How bout a thread on fun things your doing this summer? (the "fun stuff after stagecoach 2011" title was killing me) Post concerts, events, festivals, fairs, shows, etc... here.

    Ill start with our plans....

6/16 - Chili Cookoff in Downtown Huntington Beach

6/22 - Angels v Doyers at the Big A - Find us for the tailgate party!

7/4 - Huntington Beach 4th of July Parade and Fireworks - We will be on 12th and Main with the Tiki Bar set up in the park.

    7/7 - Hootenanny by Irvine Lake - (Rockabilly-Punk-Carshow)

7/14 - Brother of the Sun Tour at the Big A - Again, find us for the tailgate party.

8/9 or 8/12 - Motorhome Madness Demolition Derby at the OC Fair -

Also here is a link for FREE summer concerts in orange county. Usually something nice to do for a couple hours during the week with local live music. http://www.orangecounty.net/html/events_concerts.html

    Have a great summer everyone!
I got laid off when they closed that asbestos factory, and wouldn't you know it, the army cuts my disability pension because they said that the plate in my head wasn't big enough.

Kuzn Edy, you always seem to have good ideas....

We have our grandsons 10 & 12 from hot humid Texas for the summer. So we really have to keep them busy. They are ALL BOY!! Thankfully a forced early retirement let's us be kids again too.

June: Been to Lytle Creek already to camp in the Mountains

End of June we head up to Carpinteria SB for 3 days (Gonna follow your suggestions about that brewery Kuzn Edy)..ha ha ha and the racoons then up to Pismo Beach to hopefuly horseback and buggy ride through the dunes.

    July:
]uly 4th Quakes Stadium in Rancho Cucamonga for the fireworks after bbq at house, and a street party and fireworks when we come home.

Tubing with about 40 friends and kids on the Owen River

Camping in Julian countryside for a few days before heading down to Mission Bay in San Diego. Campland on the Bay is a great place, especially for families.

    August
Take the boat to Lake Havasu for a week, and also do a little jetskiing and water skiing and lots of swimming.

Like you, we take the kids to the Fontana Free concerts in the park for music and a picnic. Tonight we saw Sgt. Pepper Beatles tribute. They have free balloon sculpting, face painting and kids games, etc. Most with prizes at no cost.

We also go quite often to Quakes Stadium and the 66ers Stadium ( Angels and Dodger feeder teams) It's only $2-$5 certain nights - you can sit right behind the dugout and the players toss the practice balls to the kids which they often sign at the end of the game. The boys love it and we get at least 2 each every year.

I know Frenchie and Festival Fan used to have summers that made me drool.. You still doing that ??

Love to reads what ya all are doing. Love to learn about new places to have adventures. So I hope this thread keeps going.

Have a happy sunshine summer everyone.

Our summer kicked off to a great start with our trip last weekend to Texas to see Kenny and Tim That's our big trip of the summer so everything else is pretty low key after that. My mom has some parties and get togethers with her friends planned. I'll probably drag my boyfriend all around Southern California to SeaWorld and the zoos since we have annual passes. And other than that, we'll be at the Kenny & Tim show in July at Angel's stadium and Toby Keith at Devore in August!

Pretty laidback summer for me. Having to pay $40,000 for culinary school will put a damper on traveling. We just got back today from a tubing camping trip near Fresno over the weekend. I think it will take a few days to recover from that. I'm also going to Vegas next week with my roommate for a few days. That's all I have planned at this point. Then I start my second quarter of classes on July 9.
I want to rock and roll all night...and part of everyday

I'll bring something fun next year. By the time Stagecoach comes around, I will be about a month and a half away from graduating, so I'll probably have some pretty awesome recipes in my repertoire by then.

We went floating on the King's River up near Fresno in Reedley. The camping spot is Kelly's Beach and they have a bus that drives everyone up for a float back to the camping spot which lasts a few hours.

Thanks, I looked at the website. Looks good fun, and pretty. Where we go has scrub chaparral, but there are a lot of fun people that meet up once a year on it. But I think we will try your spot next year.

If you do bring something special to Stagecoach next year be sure to bring the recipe. It took forever to chase down all the recipes for the yummies that were there this year.

Aw man, now I'm all revved up to follow Kuzn Edy around. haha
I too was at that tubing camping trip with Unclefeiny and we had a blast.
July I'm going to see Tim and Kenny as well, so I'll be crashing Kuzn Edy's tailgate party (don't worry, I'll bring something)
Also in July, I'll be joining Chev and a few others fot a game at Angel Stadium with a huge tailgate party to start things off
We have another float up North in early August and I just LOVE when we camp and float!
    Ahhhh fun times.

Wow, I'm envious. It's great you guys all keep some sort of contact throughout the year. It seems where we live, Jim and I are the only ones that still have blood flowing in our veins.

I think it's great too. I've made some of the best friends right here on this board and we do fun things throughout the year.
Maybe you can gather up a couple of the fuddy duddy's and get them off their butts and have an outing somewhere? Maybe.

hahaha.. You know, seriously, I think when a lot of people get older, they sometimes limit their world. Age doesn't define us, heck my mind still thinks I'm 26, but my body knows I'm lying but that doesn't stop us.

    I don't want to sound like I'm complaining...just envious..

We have loads of nice friends...we also have a boat we take to Havasu, not one of our friends will swim and get their hair wet, ..we like to camp tent or RV, most of the people we know will only RV on a cement pad. We like 8pm dinner when we go out, most of the people we know are finished by 5. That's why we hookup with groups of families from all over the U.S. to do stuff in the summer, we have the grandkids so it it great.

Many think it's outrageous that we enjoy an experience like camping at Stagecoach.. but we truely do. We like the kick back, easy going, open smiled, all accepting attitude...

It's great you get to carry it all through the year with each other

I know the feeling. I still feel young as well, even though I'm an old geezer. I too have grand children (6 to be exact), but that doesn't stop me from going out and having a great time.
I get some critisism from a personal friend because he thinks I'm too old to be hanging out with the younger crowd, but they are much more fun and like to do the same things I do, plus I think I can actually keep up with them.

The only reason why I didn't cook anything fun this year is my concern of keeping it properly refrigerated. If I get to Morongo Wednesday, it has to be properly kept cold for like 36-48 hours in a cooler which is hard to do.

Hey next year if I am lucky enough to get tickets ( didn't do it when they went on sale this year had to scramble) and IF Kuzn Edy has his "Do" ...we live just off the 10 about 3 miles East of the 15. Drop the yummies off at our place and we will keep it in the RV fridge.. I will take REALLLLLLYYYY good care of it

Hey, if you feel young & like having fun, then age is nothing but a number! Sometimes I act like an old lady and I'm in my 20s... so it's all about how you feel My mom likes to change the words to Garth Brooks' song to "I'm much too old to feel this damn young" haha!

CMA Songwriters series comes to HOB Sunset this Tuesday. This is one of my absolute favorite shows. Seen it a few times already and will be there again on Tuesday. If you've never seen this show I highly recommend it. Info - http://www.houseofblues.com/tickets/...?eventid=75141

Unfortunately, it doesn't sound that good on paper but if you're a country music fan you must get to one of these shows someday. Hear the songs you love and the stories behind them from the people who wrote the songs.
