    Default Misting system

I threw together a portable misting system this weekend with ideas stolen from our Indio predecessors... http://www.coachella.com/forum/showt...=mister+system

Mysting system from Home Depot about $15... http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1...&storeId=10051

Water jug weed sprayer from HD.. about $17.

I cut off the hose bib conection from the mister then warmed up the tubing with a Bic lighter and pushed it over the wand stem of the sprayer. Then i used a zip tie to lock it on (which i will switch to a tube clamp).

Filled the jug about half way and pumped it up about 40 pumps. The mister worked great for about 25min without pumping again untill the water ran out. I would say after this trial run, the system is a good portable system for less than $30.

I got laid off when they closed that asbestos factory, and wouldn't you know it, the army cuts my disability pension because they said that the plate in my head wasn't big enough.

JLRAPP8 - to answer your question... I tried a water pump a couple years ago at the lake and burnt it up after about 15min. I think that the high pressure needed for the spray (at least 35psi) and the lack of water flow damaged the pump. If you get a high end pump you might be good. I would think maybe an air pump pressurizing the barrel would be better. I too am bringing two 55gal water barrels and just plan to re-fill the jug when needed.

With this system I didnt have to pump the handle like i thought i would, and the water lasted about 25min at half full, so im guessing at least 4Omin full (2gal). Ive yet to fill it up and go through a whole jug and see how often i got to pump and fill it. Im thinking of using less spray heads to last longer.

    Hope this helps.

That is the best way to do it.. With about 5 pumps it will run about an hour. I have been using one like this for the lake since for a long time. You will love it.

Should work as long as you can get the pressure up pretty high. If it looks super cheap (like mose harbor freight stuff) i would spend the extra $8 at HD.
