First-timer, Harrassment????

I know this is perhaps a very stupid post considering its 2011 (2012 by then) .. however better safe than sorry. I live in West Hollywood so being myself is normal...but I have noticed when ive been out of LA county that its a bit different.. So that being said, I am gay and just want to know the atmosphere and how people may be there.. Im a die hard country fan, and just love to have fun, meet new people and enjoy good times. Ive been to concerts up in Santa Barbara and was way uncomfortable.. and being 4 days at Stagecoach, i want to have the best time of my life. Dont get me wrong, Im going with a pack of 8 straight young beautiful girls and staying in EDII so I am sure the boys will be flocking... Just trying to prepare myself.
Again, this is highly stupid and I really shouldnt be worried just like to get a heads up since most of you have been.. thanks so much for any input!!!!

Gay or straight... it won't matter... it's a great atmosphere every year there are at least 20 guys walking around in speedo's boots and hats... guys with short short cut off shorts... people act Flamboyant there all the time... hell even if you wear pink boots pink hat and pink speedo you wont stand out... just show up be your self and have the time of your life...

As im sure you already know, there are ignorant people everywhere you go. There will definately be a higher concentration of drunk, ignorant, redneck, close minded fools at stagecoach compaired to the starbucks on santa monica and fairfax. And you might be asking for unpopular attention if you fly the rainbow flag at your RV, wear pink boots, pink hat, and pink boa to a country concert. But i would expect the same reaction if some country boy walked down santa monica blvd wearing a "yes on 8" shirt and holding a confederate flag. My point (with all those overly stereotypical coments), dont make this your time to prove to the stagecoach world your gay. Come out to Indio, have the best four days of your life. My opionion... F*ck em if they got a problem. Come by my set up in EDII and have a beer if your cool... I like the controversy anyway!!!

The Confederate flag is a sign of racism against blacks. Refer to your history books - if you can read.

son the confederate flag is about pride and herritage. There were blacks that fought for the south to or did they not teach you that in school? lincoln and washington both owned slaves... and they were from the north...lol. you need to refer to real history books and not the shit thats tought in high school. yes there are hate groups that use the flag for racism but that not what the flags about.

Oh lord I soooo don’t want to get involved in this conversation, but I can’t help myself.

The civil war or the confederate flag has nothing to do with blacks or slavery or pride or herritage. The civil war was created because the south or the southern states did not want to be told what to do by the federal government. They believed that each state should make it’s own rules. Most of the “white” settlers came from places that were ruled by kings and queens, dictatorship or communism and they no longer wanted that type of control. That’s why they came to this country in the first place, to run away from whatever restraints they had and to try to make a better life.

It was called a succession. The federal government didn’t want to loose it’s power over all ratified states at that time. If you understand the emancipation proclamation (freeing slaves) it was passed not after the civil war but DURING the war. They needed more soldiers to fight and this was a way of recruitment for the north. Northerners and southerners all had slaves during this time.

If you look at the confederate flag it is Red, White and Blue with 13 X’s. It’s a symbol stating that the southern states do not want to be a part of the northern states. Cross us out of your union is the message.

We still are struggling through this today. Federal laws and state laws. Each are different. Some states allow gay marriage but currently the federal government does not recognize those unions. Medical marijuana is legal in California, a felony in Nevada. Federal law is a no no but they currently are trying to look the other way. Sorry that I jumped on the soap box but like I said…I couldn’t help myself.

Stagecoach is about having fun...gay, straight, tall, short, skinny, fat, white, black, green or blue. It's a 3 day party to make new friends, listen to GREAT music, relax and forget about all the troubles in the world today.
