Yea, I'm kinda confused by this. It seems pretty clear that the dates are going to be April 28th and 29th. I don't know why they won't announce it. The dates were announced in August for last years. This is kinda weird that we are going into October with no dates. The lineup is usually announced in October.

Note sure how typical a week in-between is. They did that last year simply because of Easter Sunday. Most of the time they are back to back.

I think the consensus here on the board is that it will be April 28th and 29th. Could I be wrong, sure.

Also I don't think they would push it an extra week simply because the a lot of the same vendors work both festivals. I don't think you want displace people for an extra week.

The new contract also includes an extra day of Stagecoach — planned now for April 27-29. Dates for 2013 have yet to be set.

There is an article int he Desert Sun today saying that the promoters have set the dates for April 27-29. They added a third day!!

COACHELLA 2012: Radiohead, Black Keys, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre top the bill

The Black Keys, Radiohead, and a joint performance from Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg will headline Coachella this year, festival promoters announced today.

Bon Iver, Arctic Monkeys, At The Drive-In and Fitz and the Tantrums also made the line-up, which was released on the Coachella Facebook page shortly before 4 p.m.


Florence and the Machines, The Shins and La Roux will also hit the stage for two highly-anticipated weekends in April.


Within one hour of going public, more than 14,000 people “liked” the promotion poster on Facebook and more than 15,000 people had shared it with their friends.


For the first time ever this year, Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival promoters began leaking the names of some smaller acts before the official announcement.


The poster even circulated on Twitter before it was officially posted.


The festival also posted links to five artists — Azealia Banks, Araabmuzik, Housse de Recket, Breakbot, Jimmy Cliff and The Weeknd — with the hashtag #Coachella2012 on Twitter.


Bands have also confirmed their appearances during the last week, whether during private appearances or in public posts on their official websites or on Twitter.


Newcomer and rapper Banks was the first to confirm speculation that the festival’s tweets were the equivalent of official leaks.


She bragged in a Jan. 4 tweet that she was the “first confirmed act for Coachella” and that she was “too excited for that.”

Festival to span two weekends

The famed festival will mark another first this year: It will span two weekends.

It is slated for April 13-15 and April 20-22 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio. Festival promoters have promised identical weekends for more festival-goers to participate.

Last year, the festival announced last year’s lineup late Jan. 18.

The festival, founded in 1999 by Los Angeles-based Goldenvoice, is known for its mix of cutting-edge indie rock, hip-hop and electronica music, and the appearance of music legends from the 1980s and earlier.
