Coachella 2012 will be held over TWO WEEKENDS.
Wow, it just gets bigger and bigger every year.
This also means that Stagecoach 2012 will most likely be on the 28th and 29th of April.
We're excited to announce Coachella 2012 will be held over TWO WEEKENDS.
In an effort to try and accommodate everyone who wants to experience the festival, COACHELLA 2012 will be two separate events, held over two consecutive weekends. We will attempt to produce two identical festival weekends. That means same lineup, same art, same place, different people.
We know many of you were unable to attend this year's festival because passes sold out much sooner than anticipated. We were truly surprised by the overwhelming response and remain honored by your passion and enthusiasm. We also know some of you purchased through non legitimate sources and were inconvenienced, gouged or totally scammed. We hope that these changes will give everyone the opportunity to purchase directly from Coachella.com.
Passes go on sale beginning this Friday, June 3rd, 2011, at 10am PST until the following Friday June 10th, 2011, at 10pm PST. This advance sale will be the only opportunity to take advantage of the Coachella Payment Plan. Passes will be available through a payment plan of 10% down and 8 equal monthly payments OR by payment in full. The price of three-day passes remains at $269 plus fees for the sixth consecutive year.

Can't imagine how they are going to be able to pull off the same line-up for two weekends in a row? Especially the headliners.

I read that so when will SC12 take place
Can't wait until Stagecoach2013
If I was going to Coachella, I would definitely go to the first one. I have a feeling ALL the artists won't be able to make it two weeks in a row.
If this is successful maybe in the future they can offer a "superfan" package for both weekends. That why you can catch the artists you miss from the first weekend and/or see their full sets instead of 10 minutes here and 20 minutes there.

gotta go first weekend when the grass is green, that's such a joy feeling the nice cool grass between your toes. of course, due to the possible transplant i may not be able to go next year...or ever again. boo.
oh i am sure it will be in the contract, you don't show up for week 2 you don't get paid. or the band can just run off to vegas or az for a couple shows and drive a few hours back to indio. maybe goldenvoice will just put 'em up for a week at one of the resorts for a little tour break, too. with this much advance notice it shouldn't be hard for tour routers/management to figure it out. quotes i've read from a couple agencies seem to be pretty positive about the news. and maybe, just maybe, they have a huuuuuuuge headliner already locked up and are pretty confident that selling 2 weekends won't be a problem.
i'm struggling with going the second weekend due to cousin's wedding. If that was not a factor, i'm 100% on going to both. my hope is for venues in the area have shows to fill in the week between the 2 Coachellas to just make it an absolutely insane 11 days (Thur - 2nd Sun). Longer sets in small clubs would be dreamy. i'm so looking forward to seeing how it plays out.
I probably will pass on Coachella in 2012. It's $712 for 2 weekends with shuttle. Maybe Stagecoach will bring it on this year with some new talent. Or if I'm real lucky, there will be some NASCAR nearby, or another heavy metal fest.
but if you went to both you could resolve the conflict issues that always arise at coachella. 5-6 stages going at once means you will be missing something you want to see, now you can make it up the following weekend.
...if you don't come down with the coachella flu after the first weekend.
THis means even less chance of any green grass left for stagecoach :0(
My Bumper sticker reads ~ Drink 'til he's cute ~ That's what I'm gonna do ~ Ain't got no serious thing ~ Don't wear a diamond ring ~ I'm just a summer girl!!!
Is it April yet???![]()
Yes Yes Yes it is April now!!!!
This is a copy/paste from Coachella websight... Wonder if they are going to do the same thing for Stagecoach to try and cut out some of the scalpers?
If you wish to purchase a CAMPING PASS, then you must purchase it at the same time and in the same order as your FESTIVAL PASS. These items are not available separately. Please select the appropriate option below to make your selection. All camping passes are NON TRANSFERABLE. Please keep this in mind when planning your purchase. The person arriving first to get the camping spot must be the one who purchased the spot.

The bad thing about this is that if something comes up and you can't go, you loose out on all that money now. Also, if they do this with SC I feel it will lower the amount of people that can afford to go. Now you have to have the money for the tickets and the RV spot right when they go on sale.
Right now (until tomorrow) they offer the layaway plan for purchases. They no longer sell tickets but wrist bands only. No longer available for purchase through ticketmaster but from their websight only. They have loads of fake tickets being sold in the past. They warn everybody now to no longer purchase from any 2nd/3rd party including e-bay, stub hub, craigs list etc. The first weekend of camping spots are already sold out so I don't think Goldenvoice is concerned about less attendance.
I see your point and they are valid ones. I think many early sales are from the scalpers who don't plan on going anyway and make a hefty profit later on.
