I’m starting this thread in the hopes of getting some input from folks who are staying off-site. I’d like to find a place to go, this year, that’ll be a little more….let’s say….interesting.
Last year we went to Jackelope Ranch and I was really disappointed. The band was terrible, the food and service were mediocre, and most folks were just there to try and win the tickets the local radio station was giving away. Add to that, it was a restaurant with a lawn. Not exciting.
So this year I’ve heard of 2 potentially acceptable places: The Date Shed and The Tack Room Tavern.
Date Shed: Will they let us in if we aren’t camping? If so, are we looking at another Jackelope Ranch style venue or what? I know the cover is $10, but I’m willing to pay it if it’s gonna be fun.
Tack Room Tavern: I viewed the pics on FB and saw what looked like a dance floor, but nobody was dancing. If this place provides a way for me to 2-step with my girl, that would be awesome. Again, we don’t want a Jackelope style venue.
Has anyone been to Dylan’s in Vegas (on Boulder Hwy) or the Renegade bar in Lakeside (East County, San Diego)? That’s the kind of atmosphere we’re looking for: drinkin’ beer, kickin’ up our heels to country music, and hangin’ out with a bunch of red necks. Translation: If grandma was there to see what was going on, she'd either rip off her bra and hang it with the rest OR walk away respectfully shaking her head.
Tell me your thoughts. What are you folks who are staying off-site planning for Friday night?

and am going through withdrawals. Looking forward to SC13
