Default For those who aren't camping...

I’m starting this thread in the hopes of getting some input from folks who are staying off-site. I’d like to find a place to go, this year, that’ll be a little more….let’s say….interesting.

Last year we went to Jackelope Ranch and I was really disappointed. The band was terrible, the food and service were mediocre, and most folks were just there to try and win the tickets the local radio station was giving away. Add to that, it was a restaurant with a lawn. Not exciting.

So this year I’ve heard of 2 potentially acceptable places: The Date Shed and The Tack Room Tavern.

Date Shed: Will they let us in if we aren’t camping? If so, are we looking at another Jackelope Ranch style venue or what? I know the cover is $10, but I’m willing to pay it if it’s gonna be fun.

Tack Room Tavern: I viewed the pics on FB and saw what looked like a dance floor, but nobody was dancing. If this place provides a way for me to 2-step with my girl, that would be awesome. Again, we don’t want a Jackelope style venue.

Has anyone been to Dylan’s in Vegas (on Boulder Hwy) or the Renegade bar in Lakeside (East County, San Diego)? That’s the kind of atmosphere we’re looking for: drinkin’ beer, kickin’ up our heels to country music, and hangin’ out with a bunch of red necks. Translation: If grandma was there to see what was going on, she'd either rip off her bra and hang it with the rest OR walk away respectfully shaking her head.

Tell me your thoughts. What are you folks who are staying off-site planning for Friday night?
I missed SC 2012 and am going through withdrawals. Looking forward to SC13

Date Shed will be a party and if it's not, can always head over to the camping area which is a constant party. The only problem you'll run into Friday is finding parking, but you'll be able to get into the camping area with your festival ticket and be able to get into the Date Shed with your $10.

SWEET! I thought that required wristbands. We might just do that.

They gave up on camping wristbands, now they give you a wristband for your festival ticket and it gets you into the venue or camping. At least that's what they did last year and I've heard it's the same way this year.

Not completely sure yet. I agree, last year Jackalope sucked. No parking available for Date Shed unless you have a companion parking pass. The Tack room is closed during Stagecoach. Maybe Neil's. It's a dive bar with dancing and pool tables.

Jackelope was so ridiculously stupid. Could not agree more.

Dive bar and pool tables? NOW you're speakin' my language!! I'd be interested in exactly what robertdv is describing... let's see what's suggested here. My BFF is from La Quinta and we've been to the Beer Hunter there before - pool tables, etc. I don't think it's too far. On Washington I believe. Tell me more about Neil's.....

80956 US Hwy 111. Near Jefferson. West of Monroe and East of Washington. I went in 08 and had a blast. Pretty good food. Karoke. All the Eagles Roadies were there to pre-party too. I wanted to go back in 09 but it was under reconstruction from a fire. I heard last year that Keith Urban & Nicole went there before his show.

It is most certainly a dive bar.

Sounds like camping to me. I'll stay on site. 24 hours until I head east, then I don't have to see my car until Monday!

I spend every other weekend at a dive bar (Renegade). And if there's a dance floor with people actually dancing (I don't want to embarrass my girl...she hates that...well, kinda) we'll check it out.

Why in the world would a place called the Tack Room Tavern close for Stagecoach weekend? Hellllooooooo....country theme on a country weekend.....duh. They'd make enough money in one weekend to keep them running for months. Silly people. C'mon bar owners. Red necks LOVE to drink. Ain't never met one that didn't.

Hey! That gives me an idea. Any bar owner's on this board?
