I am heading up from San Diego Thursday night. Going to hook the trailer up to the truck and head on up. I need to make a stop in Ontario to pick up a few family members but will then be on our way. I am leaving from Rancho Penasquitos, anyone want to caravan? Thanks
Hi everyone,
I'm a young Canadian traveler looking for a drive up to the Stagecoach festival. I will be staying in the Ramona area At that time so if possible, pickup in that area would be really apreciated. I am willing to chip in for gas. Please let me know if you have room![]()

Hey now....we don't break the rules, right? lol
We're driving a 13 year old SUV with 160K miles on it - not sure we're going to be doing 90 mph up mountains!

Up in the air about SC 2011, but still love my SCMB family!!!
LOL @ how am I gonna negotiate through this - with mr. speed demon and a 13 year old minivan in opposite corners. I can go either way. (big surprise there, eh?)
I will take a stab at it - tomorrow I will post the exact specs on the back roads route, but rest assured that there are lots of twisties through the mtns and going fast is not cool unless you want to do a thelma and louise off the cliffside.![]()
Here's the backroads route from San Diego to the desert:
15 North
79 South (Temecula)
371 North (Aguanga)
74 East (over the Santa Rosa Mountain - ends at 111 in the city of Palm Desert)
Hwy 111 East to Indio.
HonkeyTonker and WestCoastlady: You down?
Hey DG, just wanted to ask if it's quicker to take highway 10 out to indio--especially in an RV??? We took the mt. route out last year from SD it was a great trip and really fun but it seemed like it took a really long time. Let me know if you have any advice.
On another note, my group and I may ride out with you!! We were planning on leaving spring valley around 12 anyway so we may join the OFFICIAL "STAGECOACH TWENTY-TEN CARAVAN!"![]()
Maybe I missed it but is anyone else leaving from Wally World in an RV or did everyone have theirs delivered? CANT WAIT TIL FRIDAY!
-Pistol
why not 15 to the 215 to the 60 to the 10
or even quicker, 15 to 215 to 91 to 10????
is it SC '11 yet?
and its still 5 o'clock somewhere
HT: Tis the beauty of the drive that is the factor. NOT the time it takes. Sure it may be faster to go 15 but what an ugly drive!
Pistol: It is not a good idea to go the back roads way in an RV. Too many twisties up and down the mountain. Take the freeway route. Our RVs are being delivered. We're driving our cars up on this caravan.
NOW, having said all that, if Pistol is joining us, let's go the freeway route and forget about the backroads route.
Your call, Pistol!!!! What'll it be?
Hey DG, Thanks again for the consideration and the good advice but I don't want to keep you guys from getting your party on and having a good time! I think the backroads is the best route-- highway 60 with that delay is going to be a killer so I wouldn't want to risk that on a Friday afternoon :/ !!!!
Anyway, I checked out mapquest for another route on some straighter highways and I think we'll just take the RV up that way instead and come in the from the southside of indio (up the 86) And that will actually put us in line to roll into Stick and Ball from 52nd street and avoid most of the backed up traffic (everyone else coming down from Monroe)!!!
BUT! Hopefully we'll see you there somewhere and drink some beers!-- I'll be wearing a Black and white stagecoach jersey with "Pistol" and number 88 on the back so if you see me wondering around just give me a holler!
T-minus 24 Hours!!! See you all there!
-PISTOL
That back road is a little gnarly, pulling an RV, we're going to go the ugly road (15). Another thing to consider, going through Santa Ysabel and up that way, there's most likely snow right now...at least I think that's the route we took last year???
k im down with that route
see ya at noon tomorrow. I have your cell # programmed in my phone - got it from WCL
and will call u if you aren't there on time. no joke.
what you be driving so we know what to look for?
WCL has an SUV and I'm in my silver Accord.
