Very true and point taken. It will never happen.

I'm sure Justin Beiber will be happy to hear it!

A mark of intelligence is being able to see both sides of an issue at once. People that started hating The Dixie Chicks' music because of an ill-timed remark made by one member in regard to one issue seem to lack the capacity to objectively listen to alternate viewpoints without resorting to the us vs. them mentality. It is this way of thinking that is destroying any chance of debate and cooperation we may have left in making this country as great as it can be.

I didn't agree with Maines making her statement in front of a foreign crowd but she's certainly entitled to her opinion. Just like Toby Keith can rail on about booting the ass of foreigners (even if it means civilian casualties). I own records by both of these artists and enjoy them both. It is listening to differing viewpoints that makes musical artistry interesting.

Of course, if debating opinions is too much for some people to discuss in a rational manner, there's always going to be another Carrie Underwood record coming out soon.

I love party music as much as the next guy, but telling musicians to shut up about their politics is ridiculous. Especially if they address their beliefs in song.
The individual needs to follow the art. And sometimes art is messy.
Very well stated! I couldn't agree more. Everybody has an opinion, artists, common-folk, etc... and I don't think any one person is WRONG in their opinion even if I don't agree with it. They believe in THEIR convictions as much as I believe in mine. Who's to say who's wrong? I feel the same about religon.
No matter what they say I've done, I ain't never had too much fun!

And apparently my Dad cannot say Beiber. He pronounces it Beaver. It's a long hilarious story that I can't stop laughing about.

OK, so the conversation with my Dad went like this. (This is the ACTUAL conversation, no parts have been exaggerated)

Background: A week prior to this conversation, my Dad was making a "beaver fever" joke and said he heard some 12 year old on TV say she had it. He was saying it was some guy named beaver from some pop group, and he thought it was funny because it sounded so dirty. I had no idea what he was talking about....

So a week later we are watching TMZ and Justin Beiber is shown

Me: Ugh, Justin Beiber, he needs to go somewhere with himself
Dad: That's the beaver fever guy!
Me: (laughing) No Dad, it's not beaver fever, it's BEIBER
    Dad: Yes, beaver
    Me: No, it's beiber. B-E-I-B-E-R
    Dad: Right. Beaver.
    Me: No, it's not a "v" it's a "b" as in boy
    Dad: (puzzled look)
    Me: B-E-I-B-E-R. B instead of the V.
    Dad: Beaver?
Me: No it's BEIBER!!!! Like the letter B and then Brrrrr like you're cold
    Dad: ??? Beaver. Beaver fever.

FINALLY after like 15 minutes of this, he gets it. Then he says he still thinks Beaver Fever is funnier. I came *this* close to losing it....

If only they weren't so hard to come across, a pen and paper would have come in handy in that situation. You'd think such useful devices would be more readily available for use amongst the general public.

The Beaver kid is all the rag enow, but let's see how many people still like him when he's smelly and old and has had a few kids.
