    Default Kid Rock...seriously?

Ok, so its no secret that I'm not a Kid Rock fan. Don't get me wrong, he's a good musician and a talented singer - the guys just an a-hole. When he starting doing his country/honky-tonk stuff it was awesome, but as soon as he started with this other crap, I felt like leaving for the night - Kenny or not.

The crowd was definitely different for him (lot more white-trashers and bros) but even that started to cause a scene - those people have Coachella, give us Stagecoach!

If I had seen him at Coachella or Warped Tour I wouldn't complain, cuz I felt like he would have fit in, but having to sit thru him for AN HOUR AND A HALF was pretty miserable. The only time he had the whole crowd was when we did his TWO country songs and his 20 second honky-tonk bit. Everytime he had the crowd scream his name I wanted to slap him. Seriously, is he so insecure that he needs 40,000 people to sing his name repeatedly? And what was with this INSANELY long set time - did he think we was the headliner of the night? His 15 minute "look-at-me-I-can-play-every-instrument" encore got really old too. Also, I like to party as much as the next guy, but I could have gone without the vulgar references sung into the mic for 10 minutes while there's tons of families around. Kids don't need to be hearing that crap.

We came to Stagecoach to see COUNTRY artists, not some washed up, trashy pop singer who is still trying to convince people he's a cowboy (not working!). Let's get some real acts back in here - some George Straight, Dierks, Travis Tritt, Jason Aldean, Carrie...something. The only thing worth seeing Kid Rock for was to hear Miranda Lambert tell him she was going to shoot him. Ha! Let's hope the talent buyers don't book this guy again!

I'm going to have to disagree.. I wasn't a huge Kid Rock fan. At all. I've only ever liked one song by him and that was "Picture".

Seeing him perform gave me a whole new respect for him. He puts on a hell of a good show and knows how to keep people standing.. unlike Kenny who I'm sorry was just boring.

But that's just my opinion. To each his own

    Agree agree agree agree.

Without question Kid Rock was the highlight of the weekend for me. Which is saying a lot considering I'm HUGE fans of both Brad and Kenny and I had very low expectations for Kid Rock. As I said in another thread, in five years Kid Rock will be the only thing I remember from SC 09.

    Seriously.

I disagree too kid rock was probably the best show of the night me and all my friends were trying to figure out why he didnt go last because kenny didnt even get close to topping it, which is kind of disappointing. I will admit I wasnt expecting him to go so much into the rock BUT like you said he dosent have many country songs to begin with. It seemed to me that about 90% of the crowd enjoyed him regardless. Anyways, I thought kid rock put on the best show out of BOTH days, sorry kenny was disappointing.

Before Kid came on, I told my friend "Oh he's probably gonna get boo'd off stage". Boy was I wrong! He was the highlight of my weekend also. By far.

I loved seeing Country Music Lovers (like myself) being able to enjoy Kid Rock.

If any of you missed Hot Club of Cowtown on the Mustang stage, its a shame. Fantastic set. However, they did play during Kid Rock so most of the crowd was at Mane stage. Don't get me wrong, I did catch the end of Kid Rock's set and he put on quite a show.

I didn't have a clue what to expect - except that I probably wouldn't like it... I was soooooooooooo wrong..... one of the highlights of the weekend - right up there with Poco and Ralph Stanley - and of all the Mane stage acts - even for the past several years- Kid Rock did a show that was thought out and for Stagecoach - not something out of the can like most of the headliners (not complaining) - very origional - delightfully offensive - and while I'm far (very far) from his demographic - if I could only have a recording of the songs that were tailor made for Stagecoach.

Talk about a tough act to follow - Made Chesney look weak IMO (which he was - mostly because they didn't take the time for a sound check - couldn't hear his voice 1/2 the time)

That is so true. While I was watching him I couldn't help but think about how much effort he put into preparing this performance JUST for Stagecoach.

This is not a show he's ever put on before or will ever put on again. This was one-and-done just for us.

True, the other performers probably don't have to tweak their performances for SC, but I imagine if the Eagles had put half the thought into their performance last year I might have enjoyed them a lot more. Or if people like Kenny and Tim McGraw treated us with more respect they would have done better.

Kudos to Kid Rock. If I ever have a chance to see him in concert he sold a ticket with the SC performance. Prior to that I would have had no interest. I'm sure I'm not alone.

Nailer - GREAT SHOTS! Where were you sitting and what kind of camera/lens did you use?

    thanks for the compliment.
my "seat" was in the HC riser. for most of the Kid pictures i was stading in front of the mixer. the camera was my new 50D and the lens was a sigma 70-200.
i didnt want to bring the canon lens as it qualifies as "pro-gear". i am far from a pro as it takes me a mess of pictures to get any good ones, and i make no money with them. just for fun. (for the record)

    i'm glad you enjoy them.

I don't think they have a list of bodies/lenses that qualify as pro gear. If that 70-200 was a 2.8 then most places wouldn't let you in because it's so big. The ushers haven't a clue between a Sigma or Tamron or Canon.

Was the lens a 2.8 and did you sneak it in or have it hanging around your neck when you came in?

it was not snuck in. they went through my bag and saw it plain as day.
they even threw out my unopened red bull.
it is a 2.8 lens, but it is all "consumer grade" equipment.
    nothing pro about it.
i wish it had the image stabilizer... i sure could have used it

I'm kinda some where in the middle of this whole Kid Rock luv em/Hate em thing. Yes, I thought he was a great performer and was rather surprised with his vocal quality. I wasn't looking forward to seeing him, but once he took the stage, he had me and my friends on our feet. The down side, I had my 11 year old and her friend with me. I had already given them fair warning about Kid Rocks "potty mouth", but I honestly didn't appreciate his "song" he sang with his drummer. A** and B**** I can handle, but I could have done without that one song.

Loved "Picture" with Miranda....I prefer that version over the Sheryl Crow one.
