eh, dealing with some health stuff right now. got sick as all hell on the way home from hawaii. damn red-eye and being up for 38 hours straight. it was the driest flight i have ever been on and i had a sore throat within a couple hours of taking off, even with nasal spray and the chugging of massive amounts of water. someone on the flight must've been sick because it started out as a viral infection. got home and was in the hospital within 2 days and ended up spending 21 days in there.

in that time my doc brought up the fact that it may be time to start considering transplant. quite the mindf**k since i thought i had many, many years until that talk was a reality, but i have a nasty bug in my lungs that no antibiotics will treat and it is doing a lot of damage. had a bronchoscopy done by my doc and when he walked out he couldn't even look my family in the eyes he was so distressed by what he saw. he is one of the best doctors in this field in the world and an amazing person (so much so that his last name is my son's middle name...he even came to my surprise 30th birthday a couple years ago on a Friday night after his usual epically long workweek with the drive being around an hour each way from his house) so i trust his judgement when it comes to issues like this. hoping that if i can stay healthy for a bit and off of iv's that maybe the resistance of the bug will flip and antibiotics will begin to work again. if not it will be time to talk to the transplant team at USC.

Just know I am sorry and wish you the best, and hope that a transplant is the furthest thing away for you right now. Let's just pray the antibiotics work.

yeah, years ago i wouldn't have even considered a transplant knowing that i had a great life and could go out feeling fulfilled...but my how priorities change when you have an amazing wife and also a 2 and 4 year old at home, kinda want to be here as long as possible for them

We are all thinkin about ya man... Kids and a great wife are amazing... Kinda makes you realize what things are important in life and puts a whole new spin on it... I have a 3 year old and we are going to work on another one next July... Hope things work out for ya! Sounds like you are a great dad and husband...
