I would figure country fans would be happier that he isn't playing. I would much rather listen to Alan Jackson, or George Straight.

Garth Brooks is very cool; but Alan Jackson is warm like buttah!!!! I would give your left arm to see him, but, unless I win the contest, I'm just admiring from the dairy in Chino! But, guess what? That's good enuff for me!! This sounds like such a great time I am green with envy Take care!

I have heard a lot of talk about Garth making his comeback @ Stagecoach. Probably just some rumors. But God I hope he is there. He is the alltime greatest

It took me a long time to appreciate Garth, I didn't like country music much when he was at his biggest and he seemed to fly in the face of everything that I did like about it.

I grew up on real outlaw country music and it just seemed sad that this portly middle aged J.O. was flying around on stage while flames and smoke fanned out behind him. Kind of a pop-country carnival more than a music show.

But as time went by and I didn't have to see him posing in his mandarin collar cross-color shirts wearing a hat that somehow had a radius even larger than his waistline and dressing up as Chris Gaines I could really appreciate the songs he had. The fact that this "family man" was running around on his wife didn't help either.

I know he didn't write a fairly good portion of his music. But I'll be damned if he couldn't pick out a song to sing.

I think now that he is older and more mature I would welcome a Garth comeback. Even if he is responsible in a lot of ways for country music going down the crapper by trying to capture the "crossover success" of GB by making pop records with country elements instead of just making really solid country songs that cross over on their own merit.

I'm sure a lot of people will be upset that I may appear to be talking crap about Garth, but I never really had a problem with him as a singer, I just didn't like the production of his image.

At the end of the day he would be a great surprise guest, if he left his Peter Pan flying apparatus at home.

I think it would be so great to have Garth, even if just for this one event!

GARTH is the best!! Now don't get me wrong, I love George Straight and Alan Jackson, and I am excited to see Sugarland and Jason Aldean (he is great in concert) I have seen Garth and he is amazing, just like Chris Ledux (RIP) It would be an honor to see him again and I can't not wait for him to come back. I have listened to him sense I can't even remeber, but he is and always will be my favorite. And I love the fact that he flies around the arenas, it's a way for him to get close to everyone. The one time that I did see him at the Anaheim Pond, he flew right in front of me and pointed at me, well at least somewhere near me. For my eight year old self, it was amazing.

    GARTH IS THE MAN!

I guess it would be cool to see the flying porkchop as a kid. I never thought of it from a child's perspective.

I have always been of the school that if you can sit down on a stool with a guitar and just play an exciting show without all of the fanfare/production it (to me) shows that you really deserve to be up there.

All the smoke/mirrors/fire/flight makes it look (to me) like the product that you came for wasn't that great to begin with.

It's like going to a restaurant. At Sizzler they go through A-1 steaksauce by the gallon because the steak they serve is about two steps from leather. Hell, they even have it sitting on the table when you walk in because they know you will need it! But you hardly ever (if ever at all) see it at a Ruth's Chris steakhouse or any other fine dining establishment. For me, I prefer the genuine artical without all the "sauce".

I think we'll see more big names being added to the line-up as the Festival gets closer... I'm hoping for Rascal Flatts myself.

Here we go again. MORE NON-COUNTRY CRAP!!! Garth Brooks? Rascal Flatts? PLEASE! It's all hard rock disguised as country music! You should be listening to Riley Puckett, Sons Of The Pioneers, the Carter Family, Patsy Montana, The Shelton Brothers, etc. Now THAT was REAL country music! These slicked-up singers of today just aren't country. I feel very sorry for you if this is what you consider country music. WISE UP!!

I feel sorry for you because you're such a narrow minded idiot. I hope you wake up and realise that times change.....

People can still appreciate old music and where it came from, it's just that some people move on and can appreciate new things - new styles, rather than listening to the same old stuff all the time.

If the world was full of idiotic people like you, nothing would ever change. Nothing would progress, everything would be the same.

The Beatles and Rolling Stones were great rock bands - you don't see people bitching about all the rock festivals these days because the Beatles aren't there, do you? No.....because times change.

    Get over it, you freak.

    Cool Re: Garth Brooks?

This "gal" has been listening to country for years ..... as they say, "old school"....way back ....... I have seen more artists than I can count... but will never turn down a good concert anytime..... Yes, I have seen Garth at the "Forum" (LA) ...and have a story of a lifetime, but won't go into it now... I agree.... the glitz is not necessary.. these entertainers can stand on their own talented merit... you know who they are...... Alan, George, Waylon (RIP), Merle, and don't forget Clint, Dwight, Gary, Ty, Marty Stuart, Marty Robbins, Raul, Jason Aldean (whoa!!!!!) and Big and Rich, now those guys are super talented..... (8th of November/Comin' To Your City) ya now, wide range of music style - but oh so talented............... (and don't forget - Chris Young, Nashville Star winner !)
Check out my website (started last year) ..... it's a tribute to country music
..... See you all at Stagecoach!!!!!!

I have seen a lot of singers and groups live but no one has put on a show like Garth did years back in Del Mar. No one. and I am not a big Garth guy.

People who like Garth Brooks are like people who like Kiss. They're easily amused by lights and explosions. The music ends up being a prop for the real purpose of the show.

    It's quality over quanitiy .........
Quality is - george strait, and the like........
Quantity is - all the glitz and glamour..

Ok, some artists do have a great show ....... Kenny is quality and casual......
no fireworks are needed......... (I saw him about 10 years ago when his 1st single came out - he was quiet and shy - not all the bling bling....) He still comes across that way, a people person.

Another artist who comes to mind is Clint Black. Another very talented guy. Great stage props (he sat in the truck of a car @ the Santa Barbara Bowl) but as I recall no bling bling........ purely talent.

Trace Adkins, I met about 10 years ago when his music had just started being played, is another artist, who has it. Great voice and strongly country.
Recently, he appeared at the T.O. Civic Arts Plaza (they changed the name again, I think, Countrywide??)... he was totally himself - no bling, bling..
(yea, he came up with "Honky Tonk" but ... he has a talent that goes beyond that.....)

There is a fine line, I feel, atleast with country music, between talent, quality, and acceptable commercialism. Yea, sometimes a lil "poof"is necessary for audience appeal - so "some" people can walk away with a "wow" that was a good concert.

I expect that with "Stagecoach" there will appeal to everyone. Being that each artist has a limited amount of time - there may not be time for "bling, bling".... Each will stand on their own merit, talent, and enjoy the feedback from the crowd......

Next year, let's do it again !!!!!!!

I can't understand all the fuss over Garth Brooks. This ol' country boy has been around long enough to know that he doesn't have the talent that Ernest Tubb had in his little toe. Gene Autry didn't have to explode on stage to fill an auditorium. Bob Wills brought a modern sound by adding drums but HE STILL KEPT IT COUNTRY!! Garth Brooks is just another hard rock act masquerading as a country star. Apparently, his little charade worked since many of you worship the very ground he walks on. What a shame. If there were any justice in this world, Roy Acuff would have had more money in the bank than Garth.
IT'S NOT TOO LATE! Listen to Jimmie Davis! Listen to Ted Daffan! Listen to Jimmy Wakely! Listen to the Sons Of The Pioneers! KEEP THIS MUSIC ALIVE! KEEP REAL COUNTRY MUSIC ALIVE!!!

yes, Garth Brooks would be a nice surprise...as would Rascal Flatts (yes, they are great in concert). Other singers I would like to see (again) are Toby Keith, Gretchen Wilson, (I'm gonna be scolded for this one) Shania Twain. Yeah, all the so called "pop" singers...
