Festival setup with three stages will never make everyone happy. There will always be overlap with good acts and they count on that to be able to have a larger crowd on the grounds by making people choose which good act to watch.

This is my first year at Stagecoach. Is there a reason to arrive before 2:00ish Saturday?
Are You GA or reserved?
I'm GA
The earlier you get to the venue, the closer you'll get to the stage. It fills up pretty quick.
I would say you will not be happy with where you end up. I believe people started lining up about 8am. I don't remember when the gates opened but it was a land rush.
I always enjoy watching the folks coming in from the Campgrounds, getting through the gate and then FULL ON SPRINTING with their chairs in hand. Women yelling at their men, while they are running, telling them where to go..... hahahaha sometimes that is some of the best entertainment of the weekend....., then the look on "her" face when she finally catches up saying.... "are you kidding me, this is the best you could do, you couldn't run any faster, I should have taken the damn chairs"..... hahahaha
Dang, I'm exhausted just reading this. I think I'll just take it slow and avoid all the chaos.
I never actually saw the rush inside but it sounds like they should have video cameras setup to record the mess. I don't envy having to do that.
So, WLW, are you one of the ones that sits at the boat ramp with a cooler and scorecards?
Getting there early is a good idea to get a good spot if you can, cuz everyone is trying to do the same thing. Alot of people i know including myself go early to tailgate and just in general to drink, eat and look at all the lil shops before any of the acts start.
We do not rush to get in. I mean, you still end up seeing the act on the big screen if your in GA. One year we actually paid someone to move their blankets and it actually worked out well. We tailgated in the lot, saved money and then split the $40 to have people let us share.
Back in the "old days".... I think it was 2007 or 2008, we used to stumble out of the motorhome around 11, go stand in the line by the gate, to get in line by the next gate, to stand in line to get frisked, then go in, set up our chairs, blankets, etc, then go back to the motorhome, grab a beer or captain n coke, sit in the shade, have some lunch, play a little washers, have another beer or captain n coke, think about do we really wanna go inside yet, do we really like XYZ, finish our game of washers, have another beer / captain n coke, figure awe hell, we're hungry, fire up the Que.... have some dinner, pour ourselves another beer / captain n coke, yell at the women folk to friggin finish doin' their hair already we gotta get in there, pour ourselves another beer / captain n coke (you all know we had plenty of time for that with the women folk doin their damn hair), top off the beer / captain n coke, head over to the entrance, aaaawe crap, we aint done yet, damn, gotta CHUG the beer / captain n coke as we are walking up to be frisked AGAIN, then turn the damn corner and LOOK AT ALL THE DAMN PEOPLE..... wondering, where the H%^L did we put our stuff again...... awe man. Thank god we were at Stagecoach and people were respectful...... finally find our stuff, thank the people around us for NOT JUMPING our space, buy them a BEER and enjoy the show........
Move forward to 2010........ we stumble out of the motorhome.... pour ourself... awe you know that part of the story..... then finally around 5 or 6 we head on in grab a little space near the back and enjoy the flippin show.... head back out to the motorhome, pour ourselves a beer / captain n coke, repeat, repeat, repeat...... awe with AGE comes Wisdom........
I'd put money on a handful of people with that same story... and just never actually made it out... at all!! THAT would be a bummer in hindsight.
The stories of the sprinting and the chairs and the yelling... totally legit. Free entertainment. I gotta be honest... if I was GA you bet yer ass I'd be doing the same thing. Not so much to be close, but to get a spot I can find in the DARK! 2007 was my first and last GA year. Fantastic party on the grass with fun people... not so fantastic and fun when I left to get a Sugarland signing, and couldn't find my peeps when I came back. It was like looking into the Pacific Ocean of people.
So true... if I wasn't such a cheapskate, I would save my money on the "Parking", umm I mean Camping and get some nice seats up front.... or then again, if I took the money I spent on the RIG (Tiki Hut) this year, I could have been up front for the next few years.....hahahahah
yah i mean its nice to be closer but then its really hard to find it once you leave and the back is just less crowded... we'll see what happens this year...
Well we will have to see how this year plays out every year it's more n more crowded
