Me & my girl and her girls had a great talk today....
Do they teach kids the basics that they need to survive in life???
1. How to fill out a check and balance a checkbook?
2. Fill out a simple tax form?
Sometimes showing and teaching your children about "real life" is more of a lesson than they will ever get in school.
That's so true, Rose....
All the school cares about is test scores and prepping the kids to be little robots at test time.
My boy is smart. He will do fine. I always try to be the good little girl and never break the rules, but this once (oh, and the one time I pulled him out of school to go to Disneyland) won't hurt ;)
p.s. I'm an accountant and basically balance checking accounts for a living - I laughed when I read your #1....
Better test results = more $ for the school. We all know schools only care about the money. In my opinion, it's up to the parents to teach their kids what schools fail to teach them.

actually i remember in high school now they make you take "life skills" and in that class they teach you how to fill out a check and balance a checkbook, how to live on a budget, how to rent an apartment, apply for a job, etc.Quote:

yeah a friend drives to palm springs almost every friday and gave me a tip to cut out about a half hour, hopefully it works, we'll probably be haulin a&& though because my friends are all ridin up on their harley's, unfortunatly mine has to stay home cause someone has to haul the gear:(
whatever route we take, everybody drive carefully so we can get there and enjoy the par-tay all weekend long!!!!
