This event is every year in Santa Clarita, California. It just so happens that it's now conflicting with SC since they moved the weekend up.
California has a rich history of cowboys including music, poetry, miners etc.... You can go hang out with cowboys who were in all the westerns back in the day at a local restaurant in Sun Valley. They have a club that meets for breakfast.
Re: 2010 LINEUP - AVERAGE GUY'S TAKE
I went to a cowboy poetry festival in Big Bear, and I have been hooked ever since. My favorite since then is Dave Stamey...just love his poetry/music. I can listen and visual the ole west and running the fence lines...and some cute fun songs too.

All I gotta say is bring on STAGECOACH!!! I am soooo ready for this weekend to start!!!

And, sorry, you're not much into the western culture if you're not aware that there are cowboy poets and storytellers in the world. It's pretty cool that this festival has a wide range of artists of all kinds for people to experience.

If that was rude, you need to buy a dog or something.
Have fun with the 'Hot Dog Convention' when the poetry is going off. Nick13 is all you - go for it.
FYI - I was raised in the Midwest.
Have a good time.

Is it weird that the two acts I'm most excited to see, I just saw at Wagon Wheel?

I respect everyone's opinion & realize everyone has their own taste & every style is not for everyone...with that said, I hope that you will find time to give a listen to some of the acts on the other stages as well....might be suprised...there's a lot of talent out there! I'm looking forward to this festival & feel very honored to be a part of it & meeting everyone!! Until then...
how exciting to play with him! I love Dolye Lawson!! the main reason i do love him is precisely because of the high energy. it's feel good music to me, i was just listening to them last night. as you said it's not for everyone but personally i love the bluegrass feel & sound that they bring to the table. can't wait to see you guys at SC!

Well done, Phil's one of my top three or four country artists and I've been listening to Aldean a lot lately, have become obsessed with Wide Open (the song) for some reason.

LMAO, and then he FLOORED me! Was so awesome! I've gotten to like a lot of artists by seeing them live. Take Brad Paisley. Was soooo not a fan until SC last year!
Re: 2010 LINEUP - AVERAGE GUY'S TAKE
I had been telling all of you for 4 years how awesome Phil is. People just dont listen to me.
Re: 2010 LINEUP - AVERAGE GUY'S TAKE
Listened to what they use to call "Country & Western" growing up. Thought I only tolerated it because of my folks. After I was on my own I realized I loved it as well as most kinds of music. I am especially looking forward to the older acts, even I some of them are pushing 90, bless their lil' hearts. Merle, Merle, and more MERLE. My Aunt & Uncle owned a honkey tonk in Bakersfield, let's hear it for the Bakersfield sound. Wish Dwight was appearing again. Hope everyone has a great time.
Re: 2010 LINEUP - AVERAGE GUY'S TAKE
My 74 Year old Grandma saw Phil last year and she swears it is the best country act she has ever seen. She still rocks it to new artists as well, so she has plenty of reference. She went with, what she said were "a bunch of young gals" who I guess were going nuts for him. The thing about Phil that not many people know is that he has written 42 number one songs for OTHER people! "I'm all, i'm all, i'm all right...I guess I'm doin' all right..." He even lays down the tracks (beats) and plays over 10 instruments.
Not missing Phil, for sure!
