There is no way they are ready for us! lol. I saw the tents and roads, etc. It reminds me of when we parked our car and walked to stagecoach along the road, only to get to the main entrance with the big lines!!!!! Gosh we felt like horses the way we were in those lines, lol

fortunately, i am only called cooter on here...to the kid i am just daddy, so far. sure someday it will be jerk, butthead, and so on...and then i'll get to pull that line out that my parents always used on me - "even though you say that, i know you really love me." and that will just piss her off more, haha.

I think the attitude in this thread of trying to exalt one GV festival over the other is kind of strange- they're essentially the same event, but with different vibes and different crowds.
please take my word for it that labeling coachella visitors as young and reckless is just plain wrong.
the whole reason I come down for 'chella is because I've found the opposite to be true-
it's the only festival where willie nelson can open for rage against the machine, and not one person will find it strange.
just because its' not a country music festival doesn't mean it's all screaming hard rock and techno. it's just as family friendly as stagecoach!

I'm hoping to do stagecoach next year- for now, a week and a half in socal and one festival is what I can afford to pull off.

Kids are Gods way of keeping you safe because we were all invincible when we were young..
I'm happy the promoters of both were wise to add this jaunder to there line up...
Yeah I remember the US festival in devore. Now that was fun.. But the bands were never the main attraction...:o

I have also heard from a good source that the coachella fest only has a contract sighned for one year or was it two more at the polo grounds.
The local home owners hate it and get extra security brought in to the devloepments....

Coming from a background of 10 years in real estate. I don't think any investor with the market dropping prices on current tract's would be wise to take that on big a project.Besides the cost for all that land would be crazy...

So lets all embrace are differences and just give a hats off to some very smart and talented promoters:D

Yes, different vibes and crowds is very understandable. But you cant single out coachella as a the event where willie can open for rage. I mean come on, we have mike ness playing at the same time as the nitty gritty dirt band.

But the labeling of reckless is very true. I had a friend work both coachella and stagecoach last year and she said coachella was mayhem. Way more drugs being passed around left and right, with people passing out left and right. Now is that really as family friendly as stagecoach? Is that not being young and reckless?

Mind you I had my fair share to drink last year, as many people did.

The only crazy part is those silly cages along Monroe for law enforcement pick-up...
I so hope this comparison is over ...
I can tell you this. I love Prince and my favorite Yokam is playing both events...

Of course now I would like to listen to christen country blues, jazz and still like any music that has a great sound..But no bad words. I have changed. Thank God...

i am the biggest coachella fan there is, though. that is my music and that is the event of the year for me and i make the most of it. stagecoach is just a bonus, a chance to wind down after the craziness of coachella. the amount of country music i listen to? zilch, nada. if i had to choose then coachella would always be number one, i am just fortunate that i don't have to make a choice since it's all taken care of by a great friend.

Being a local I have read it is not the fights that is the problems it is the illegal substances that they get arrested for. Quite a bit gets through the gates every year, my family attended Coachella last year and said that there was a lot of marijuana. (the one is not anti marijuana, but even he was surprised to see it there as much as he did).

I'm not saying everyone there does it, just saying that the ones who do ruin it for everyone else and give the crowd a bad name. A lot of people that I have met over the years from living close by are very nice and a lot of them help each other out and watch out for each other.

It is exactly the same as this yet the questions and replies on the craziest things they have ever seen will blow your mind...

After seeing that board and what is allowed on there I have to say it really shows the huge difference in the crowds it attracts..

My friend the arrest numbers and crime statistics are what force the local law enforcement to bring out those cages.With every event every city has their stipulations for concerts and events, for your security. The day or two after the Coachella fest check out the desert suns newspaper with the numbers for that weekends event. Then the next weekend check out the numbers for Stagecoach's event.

Hey a great motor coach wrapped with Snapple and a Harley in tow across the street parked on the block...

Actually I heard that they do have live feed of Coachella for those who can't /don't go, and they can see the shows online.....but I think it is mostly just facing the stages as opposed to viewing the grounds and such....

I saw on the Coachella website that you could watch some of the bands live. Webcam action. thought that was pretty cool.
