Hello everyone!!! We would like to invite all of you guys to come over to Papa's Smokehouse BBQ during Stagecoach this year...we will be open 3pm on Friday, and Noon on Saturday and Sunday. We'll be selling full plates of food...Ribs (we won People's Choice for Ribs at last year's Stagecoach), Pulled Pork, and Beef Brisket (yes, it's more tender than tri-tip) Sandwiches..and we include our sandwiches and ribs with coleslaw and baked beans for $10.00!!! We're hoping you guys come on by and see us, you can't miss us...we are the "big yellow trailer". There will be a lot of other choices for you to buy BBQ, and during the People's Choice (12p-5p)you can buy tickets to "sample" BBQ, then you get to cast your vote for the best BBQ at the event.....but rest assured, as far as feeding you guys...we'll be open and never run out of food!! We didn't run out last year, either! We are in a better spot, like Thom said, on the NE corner....so you can't miss us!!! See you at Stagecoach!!

That's another perk of BBQ competitions, there are just so many things you can say...:)
We feel like a Home Grown Team we are out there so much, but we are coming in from Arizona and can't wait to see everyone again this year. Last year everyone was so friendly and great and I'm sure it will be more of the same this year.

Last year, AZ BBQ was the best...hands down. We tried all of them and they were all good but AZ BBQ was our group favorite!

As long as you don't sell out...Please bring more BBQ next year.. We couldn't taste everyone's and that gave extra votes to those that have food at the end... So even if you have the best BBQ and you sell out... you won't get the votes of the newbies coming in...

Yes, definitely bring more BBQ! There were only a couple of stands that had anything left. I did get to try AZ but apparently Mike who posts their messages here wasn't around for me to say hi to.

I voted for AZ!! Woohoo! That sauce was AWESOME! Tried it Saturday and went back for more Sunday and there was no more of it. :( So I settled for the plain sauce for my chicken. :)

Thanks again to all of you who stopped by and met us, we really enjoyed talking with all of you and we do appreciate your votes. We took 2nd on Friday and Saturday for People's Choice by just a few votes and blew away the competition on Sunday b more than double for 1st place. Unfortunately, due to some Promoter Miscommunication, our votes were not counted on Sunday, unfortunate as the rest of the weekend was incredible.

Classless to state that knowing you didn't win fairly.... Where is your integrity?? As a fellow BBQ Competitor, you should be our #1 Supportor. I know if this had happened to you and we had the trophy, I would send it to you out of respect.
Where is your sense of pride, integrity and fair play? The BBQ Family is supposed to be supportive of each other and until now, I had always experienced that, but from this very comment of your's, it shows that you are one of the few who do not live by that.
And now the BBQ folks....no one is playing nice.

We had a great time out there, met some great people, other than this situation, it was an incredible event.

We were selling full plates of BBQ out front, and competing in the KCBS Competition out back. This year, people didn't even know we were involved in the People's Choice as we were part of the BBQ lineup out front and not in the fenced area behind us, so we concentrated our efforts on serving the public. We're very sorry we ran out of BBQ (late Sunday) and promise that next year we will be LOADED. We even came with double the stock from what we took last year!!! Stagecoach concert-goers are some of the best people we have met.. We are on the road going to events all year long, so we hope to see you before next year's Stagecoach! There was a specific turn in, 17:00, which was confirmed by you in another forum when you said Ben came by to collect your tickets. You failed to turn them in at that time and continued to distribute food and collect tickets. Then you are going to saunter in at the awards ceremony with a bag full of tickets and cry foul when they won't accept them. On top of that, you are going to come in here and discount our efforts and our ability to follow the rules by proclaiming yourself the People's Choice Champion? Not a chance. If you want to say that you feel you should have gotten the award but didn't because of a misunderstanding on your part about the turn in time, so be it. I'll support you in that. But to publicly proclaim yourself as the People's Choice Champ without letting all these nice folks know that your tickets weren't counted because you, and only you, didn't turn them in at the designated time is foul.
Please have either wet naps or I would prefer soap and water to wash my hands really well after eating the BBQ, near the BBQ area. The closest place was to hike back over to VIP area and go to the deluxe bathrooms that had sinks.

No one ever told us the turn in was 5:00pm and when he did come to get the tickets, I went to get them and he took off, so don't go spewing your BS saying you won when you know darn well you didn't.
For you to sit here saying you did shows your ignorance and lack of class.
Like I've said before, BBQ people for the most part are the greatest people in the world and one big family. Why you would want to sit here and say you won it when you know you didn't is beyond me. If anything, you should be sticking up for us and calling Foul. If this had happened in the reverse way, I would be your biggest supporter, but I guess that's just me and the Integrity I have.

My favorite last year and this year was and still is AZ BBQ...they are a first class act all around. Thank you guys for feeding us well! I appreciate the adult way you've handled all of the controversy rather than getting ugly like some of the other competitors.

Well i do not know about Yuma but, I am in for another PC Comp. I think a AZ vs CA thing would be good. All rules in a wrighten format and signed for by all. Thank You to all that came by and talked to us we had a blast.

I think you have A FANTASTIC idea. Stagecoach/Goldenvoice puts all the rules in writing and EVERYBODY has to sign it. Including being polite and nice to each other. No taking cuts, no jumping into seats that you didn't pay for etc. If we all did this then they would not need security. We would all have a much better time.

Also, why did I think AZ BBQ was named A-Z BBQ (as in A to Z). Now that I know it is AZ it means something totally different. I guess the logo looks a little like a hyphen. I guess I need to pay more attention.

Cooter, that sounds so familiar, I was born there and raised for many years there as well as HB. Is it one of the originals? I love the Crab Cooker (not to change the subject) and Blackies (step sis dad owned that)
I dont remember too many BBQ places down there, but will keep that one in mind when back in NB!

Keep waiting! :D I can second the Beach Pit...the place is real good! It is owned by Tim DeCinces, former Minor League baseball player and son of Doug DeCinces. He brought some good BBQ to Orange County! I can't recommend any other BBQ Joints, but I'm available for catering in the area. You should be able to smell the smoke around 19th St this Sunday!!
