VIP area access with General Admission Tickets

I have a question. Last year and this year I purchased VIP seats which came with access to the VIP area. I see that people who won tickets on radio shows received General Admission tickets and wrist bands to access the VIP area? Don't get me wrong...I'm glad for those people, but what's special about a VIP area if everybody can get in?

I saw a post from last year that a girl knew somebody who knew somebody and gave her a VIP wristband?

vip is an area to the left of the mane stage.

it has couches, some extra shade, some extra porto potties and some food and beverage vendors (full bar).
