I plan on arriving on Wednesday night. Will there be any activities in the campground areas prior to the gates opening on Friday? This is my first time.

Mainly just personal party's at everyones rigs. Last year they had the Polo Bar open and a band there, that was a blast.

Is it May yet? I'm soooooo ready to go!
I can be a beer snob myself.... but remember, this is a marathon, not a sprint. Definitely the right time for light beer.
I saw the people who sprinted last year....felt sorry for them missing the concert because they were too busy praying to the porcelain god and taking up a stall.
Kymery
04-02-2008, 03:45 PM
My hubby was a sprinter on Sun Night! When Gary Allan was on, I notice that my hubby turned around and made a b-line walking over, thru, and into everything and anything in his way...I pretended like I did not know him, people were cussing him out.
I waited till his was out in the clear and I caught up to him, he instantly got hammered and decided that he was going back to the rig. I said, SEE YA...I wasnt missin the concerts, it wasnt even dark yet.
Soooo..I party away, head back after the concerts and as I approach my rig I see him sitting on the table, arms wrapped around the door handle and the door keys in the lock just hanging there. I asked why he was sitting there and not in one of our chairs and he slurred "i caantt get the key to wooook"
He had been sitting there ALL night, dry heavin away.
How he found our rig, I will never know and he still does not know how he did either, he remembers walking/stumbling back.
I got him inside and in bed. He remembers all of it believe it or not! I warned him he better not do that again this year, cuz I still wont miss the concerts, and maybe we better leave the door unlocked this time:D
LMFAO - great story. been there...

burns cleaner too:D
Loads of people got too drunk but I also think baking in the hot sun all day didn't help. Lot's of sunburns too. About the only thing that saved me from passing out at one point was going over to the fan that they had in the VIP section and getting misted on. I even dumped a bottle of water over my own head. I sure do hope they put those misters all over the place this year.

Is it true that we cannot bring in any of our own liquor to the campsites? Do we have to buy it there?
Kymery
04-03-2008, 01:36 PM
Bring it on girl. If it went like last year, it was everwhere! Just dont walk around with the Jose bottle tied around your neck with several shot glasses in a holster. I know, I know it says no liquor, but last year, same thing.
Like I said before, I can only tell you my experience. We panicked but as soon as we parked we noticed tons of "red cups" in everyones hands. There was no hiding it, just being respectfull about it.

Last year I had a friend get totally sick all over our blanket space. She was quite a site to see, as random people were taking pictures standing over her. There BETTER not be a repeat performance or I will be re-evaluating my friendship with her. Drink and have fun--that's the plan. No room for getting sick.

04-04-2008, 11:15 AM
Respectful and observant - The local Sheriff did make several drives on our row at random times - not sure if they ever took any action - The advice not to tie it around your necks is good.... other then that.... have a great time. Our row also had the aroma of what must have been some ones prescription wafting over our rig from time to time... ;)

Everyone had the own beer and beverage of choice, just bring a plastic cup and don't over do it and everyone will be fine. The people in the campgroud last year were all happy to share, it was a great time and can't wait for the next 25 days to fly by!

Beer....??? They Didnt Search Ur Rig When You Entered?? Ive Been Busy Trying to Decide Where To Stash The Beer!!
Kymery
04-07-2008, 11:35 AM
There is no way in heck they would have the manpower to search all these rigs. They did not even ask us. Like I have said many times, everyone was drinking! (ok, ok not everyone) but you know what I mean. It was not a hidden thing. Even the employees just asked us to set our drinks down by the gate while we went to the food vendors at the campgrounds...no worries!!!!

Seems like most of you will be in the RV area. I will be in the Forum tent only area. Maybe I'll just have to mosey on down to the other areas and see what it's like. Can't wait!

They way anyone can find us is we have a 37' 5th wheel Holiday Rambler Next Level pulled by a long bed, crew cab chevy truck, pewter in color. We put up our flags, one is checkers and the other is an upside down happy face! Cant miss that! We are in EDII. I am the blonde and the hubby is the bald one with the goatee.

I'll be tent camping it as well. How safe do you feel about leaving your tent unattended?
Raquellita
04-08-2008, 11:06 AM
There will definately be a time where we have no choice, so just taking the proper precautions would be the best advice I could come up with. I think everyone will be respectful though. I hope so anyway. =o)
OK let's hear it for Jack!! He is great for sippin and for mixin with coke. I can hardly wait.

I had no problems last year! And my tent is mostly mesh = you can see right inside. Not that I would leave my valuables in there (no brainer) but nothing went missing or was damaged...even my cooler was left undisturbed, which I had to leave outside cuz its too big and my tent is too small.
I am going solo and I will be in the tent area as well!
Kymery
04-08-2008, 12:39 PM
Honkytonk your going solo? I know some people would think that is crazy, but I am jealous, no one to worry about, babysit, etc. You are gonna have so much fun! I was trying my best to make it a girls weekend, but the good ole hubby isn't going for it...i tried to send him fishing, but nope, hes gotta be at my hip. All I have to say is he better behave until then!
And I agree, this festival has the best people and nothing to worry about, nothing around our camp was touched, people respected your space.

I have nothing to worry about then!
Kymery I have the same problem as you with the hubby...sun, music, beer, cowboys, my woman out there with her girlfriends..."HA! Over my dead body" he (hubby) said.
And the worse part of it for me is that he doesn't drink and I do. How the heck am I going to party and let loose?
I need a plan B for when I get there. Girls please HELP!

Does anyone know the rules of going in and out while the performers are on stage? Do they stamp your hand or do we just need to show our tickets again?
Only 21 days till I pitch the tent!!! It's taking soooooo long to get here.
Kymery
04-09-2008, 07:46 AM
Hey, you may of missed all these posts, but you can go in and out all you want ONLY if you have a camping pass. You will have to show your camping pass to get back into it, and your festival pass (bands) to get back into the concerts. There is a special in/out area for the campers to use.
Last year they kept making us show not only our wrist bands but also our tickets to enter the VIP area seats.

Rose, thank you for that info. Those are in the lanyards right? so if you have them around your neck all the time you should be ok...I am assuming...
Kymery, you are right on track! Last year my tickets had to be "will called" so they didn't give me any lanyards. I had to keep digging them out of my pocket which was a pain especially if you were double fisted. :D I am really happy to get a lanyard this year.

Yep. Went solo last year as well! GOODTIMES! Met lots of cool peeps. And except for the total stranger who crawled into my tent thinking it was someone else, it was all good! (no harm done...poor kid couldn't even remember the name of the girl he was looking for!! LOL!!)
Only catch with going solo is even though there is no one to worry about, that means there is no one to worry about and keep an eye on YOU. So I don't get too crazy, gotta keep my wits about me, he he....

To all you virgins.... be very afraid... last year marked probably maybe my most amazing, crazy, awesome time Ive ever had. I still talk to people from last year and we still talk about it. But be aware of the weirdos though. Last year some guy was walking around asking girls if they wanted Zanax. Some punker/ rock guy that didnt belong. After " talking" to my friends, "someone I know" knocked him out. Violence shouldnt have happened, but he was a very persistant dude and kept trying to nudge intoxicated girls on. That doesnt happen in my book, I wasnt raised that way

I'm doing the tent camping thing myself. I will be with my 11 year old. This is going to be her first concert. I'm either wicked cool or just plain stupid. I'm not sure which one yet.....
I will be bringing some Crown. And Coca-cola. And Ice. Just a little, I'm still on Mamma duty......until she falls asleep.......I didn't say that. Nope, I sure didn't.
Seriously, we're both looking forward to a great time!
Wicked cool!!! Everybody will be looking out and helping an 11 year old and making sure she is safe and having a great time (these are Stagecoach folks). Last year we stopped several times at the Hootennanny (spelling?) stage and the kids were having a blast. You just couldn't wipe the smiles off those youngens faces. She will remember this for the rest of her life and will brag about going to her very first concert with her mom.
I'll date myself but my very first concert was at the Greek Theatre and it was to see Blondie, heart of glass tour.

My first concert was Testament/Megadeath/Judas Priest - Painkillers Tour.
She is so looking forward to Taylor Swift, while I am going for alot of the others, but specifically Big & Rich. I promised I'd take pictures while she just enjoys Taylor's show. She is just about to start bouncing off the walls!

An 11 yr old wants snacks, snacks, snacks. Bring those lunchables, no work for you. Cheese, crackers, pepperoni's, chips, chips and more chips. Spome Wheat thins and some Cheese wiz in a can. Dont worry too much about healthy, just keep her happy, that way YOU are happy!

PACK THE COLD STUFF WITH DRY ICE BUT PUT THE DRY ICE ONTHE BOTTOM THEN THE BAGGED ICE ON TOP OF THE DRY ICCE IF NOT EVERY THING WILL FREEZE
THE REGULAR ICE WILL STAY FROZEN FOR 2 DAYS EASILY

This is the first time I've read the forums and I must say that they are quite interesting (in a good way).
I can't wait! This will be my first festival and it sounds like a ton of fun. I'll see how it goes and if all is well, I might head up to Washington at the end of the month for the Sasquatch Music Festival.
I will be going solo (seems like a popular thing to be doing and hope to see a few of you there.

My hubby was a sprinter on Sun Night! When Gary Allan was on, I notice that my hubby turned around and made a b-line walking over, Thur, and into everything and anything in his way...I pretended like I did not know him, people were cussing him out.
I waited till his was out in the clear and I caught up to him, he instantly got hammered and decided that he was going back to the rig. I said, SEE YA...I wasnt missing the concerts, it wasn't even dark yet.

Thought you were coming for San Diego...why on the 10 at all?
I would take the 15 up thru temecula, to the 215 north thru menifee, moreno valley to the 60 East , which turns into the 10 in Banning, then 45 minutes later you are at your exit.
Even mapquest shows it like this but 2 hrs 30 min no traffic:

That's the problem Kymery. TRAFFIC! The 15 is atrocious in either direction at just about any time of day in this county. I can't decide the best time to leave. If this is the hardest decision I have for the whole weekend I'm in for a fabulous time!:p

Your not driving a rig right..tenting it.
So leave at 6am, with gas stops, potty stops for the kid you will be there by 9:30, time to set up and come over for brunch. She will complain its too early, tell her to shut up and go to sleep during the drive!! hehehe
