I think everyone needs to sit back and relax. Think about it. The two weeks prior, is Coachella with all the camping and infistructure, (showers, food, shuttles, roads, etc.) all in place. It makes no sense to put this all in place just to take it down for Stagecoach. I find it hard to believe that they will sell out all the acreage at the ED1 price. As you see they are calling it RV resort.
I believe this is a presale, so to speak. They will come through with the other options down the road. The best one can do is sit back and wait as they still need 55 or 60 thousand people to fill the venue. Their isn't that many country music fans in that valley to sell out the event or enough motels for non campers.

Respectfully we are out for two main reasons...
1). Although I am an RV owner, none of my friends are. The new rules will not allow enough people to stay with me to make it cost effective and my friends cannot rent or borrow an RV to make the event possible. It's too bad because I spent all year talking more people I to going and we planned the biggest group so far with 4 rigs and over 30 people.
2) Our group loves the tailgating and party atmosphere that we have become accustomed to at stagecoach. Without that, it is not the same event and we are no longer interested in going. GV is making it clear that this event does not wish to support the very thing that made this event so fun for us, so we have made the decision to not go. Who wants to be at a place they are not welcome. If they do make the changes and let everyone camp, it will most likely be heavily patrolled and not an environment I wish to be in.
I respect their decision to change and they can do what they wish a a private venue, but if these rules existed our first year we may not have ever gone or returned. I wish there could have been a middle ground that could have been met, but this was too much of a change for us. If we hear good things about this year, we may be back for 2014.
See ya at the next tailgate party!

I am out!! All the changes are terrible but also, the lineup is really bad!! Probably the worst lineup in SC history.

read this article. Paul Tollett, head Goldenvoice, said this: the camping rules for 2013 will NOT be changed for this year.

Let's be serious, guys. Why do you go to Stagecoach? Is it really the camping? Look, I'm all about having a good time, but if we're going to dump the festival because we can't camp with our RVs, then why have the festival at all? No, I'm not happy about the new rules and I won't be camping, but I don't buy passes to spend the day hanging out in the campground (I've heard the stories of those who got so drunk they couldn't even make it into the venue). Look at Coachella. They don't allow RVs at all and they draw 85,000 people on each of 2 weekends. That's 170,000 passes sold. I'll admit, Coachella boasts a lineup of 145 bands, but that's like trying to hit every ride at Disneyland in one day. You're going to miss some. With the smaller lineup at SC, you will most likely be able to see all the bands you want to see.
The bottom line is, if you want to complain about something, complain about the lineup (I know some of you already have) or the fact that because SC goers "stake a claim" with their folding chairs, that it feels less like a festival than it could (how many chairs do you see at Coachella?). Complain that the VIP section is too large and the GA crowd has to sit so far back from the Mane Stage (VIP at Coachella is smaller, by the way) that they feel disconnected. Complain about the 4 stage setup at SC when Coachella has five. Complain about the food or beer prices being so high ($9 for a 12 ounce beer, really? I paid less in Singapore).
Guys, the party should be inside the venue. I'm not paying $855 + $239/person to camp in a dirt parking lot for 4 nights. I will, however, pay $239 for passes to a weekend full of great Country music. By the way, I'm camping off-site for $300 with full hook-ups. This sounds like a much better deal to me.
I'm definitely in.

The point you're missing is that Coachella allows camping for a reasonable price, SC does not. Also, when you have a smaller lineup it better be great, the SC lineup is equal to something I would expect to see at the LA County Fair.

I have gone to SC EVERY year since it started and RV camped. I remember when it was $99 (GA) for a weekend of Great Country music and fun for family/friends. I own my RV so most of the new camping rules don't really effect (just the 6 per max). I will not be attending SC 2013 because of the inflated ticket/camping prices. My family/friends are heading to Country Thunder in 2013 :) They always have a Great Lineup, they don't require special permission to camp and they keep their prices reasonable. In this economy, I have the right to pick and choose who gets my hard earned money :)

I'm in...for Country Thunder.
I keep mentioning it, but the thing I don't get is that if the focus is 100% on the music and the camping is designed just for people to lay their heads down at night, then why do you have to pay $800 to be close enough to see the artists? I am definitely the kind of person Stagecoach does not want there. I'm there to party with the cowgirls AND listen to some fun music, but it's a totally different experience than going to a regular country concert. A lot of times when I'm going to a concert, I'll spend a few extra bucks to join the band's fan club so I can get the best seats possible. That's just not something that's really available at Stagecoach's prices which is why I focus more on the partying. Maybe if they wanted to set up some sort of loyalty system or Stagecoach fan club for those of us that attend year in and year out to get discounted VIP tickets, that would encourage people to pay more attention to the music. Just my two cents.

And by the way, despite the level of partying I take it to, which I'm guessing a lot of people have trouble keeping up with, I've still never caused a problem there or gotten out of hand. I think most people that get into trouble when they're drinking are also going to get into trouble when they're sober, just maybe not be quite as obnoxious. Maybe Stagecoach should start doing background checks and conducting psychological evaluations before selling each ticket?

Heres a little light reading for ya....
http://www.mydesert.com/article/20121011/LIFESTYLES010103/310110036
interesting how they state that "Stagecoach has been the site of several public safety issues" and they mention the woman getting raped, but never say it was by a security gaurd employed by GV. Oh well.... blame that on the party crowd too i guess.

I really and truly hope all of you, that have chosen to go to CT have a great and safe time. We have talked about doing both, but haven't yet.
One thing to remember. You might want to tune it down a little, so the promoters don't drop the bomb on that festival some day. The Pinal County Sheriff, Is just a hard ass, as Sheriff Joe of Maracopa County.
Please write back on this board and let us know how it was.

Seriously, They offered more RV camping last year than ever before. And it sold out in what seemed like minutes. Why would you build a huge loyal RV following for years, and then suddenly drop new rules and paperwork requirements due so quickly. Stagecoach was and always has been about the music. But to build a giant RV camping city, where people don't have to worry about driving. And which cost as much as a Hawaiian vacation, and tell people not to suck every last drop of fun out of it...well it's worth the drive in my Pace Arrow all the way to Florence, AZ in April. Its 4 days, 5 nights and is costing me 955.00 less w/ 50 amp service & meals included.
Im out. Bull crap rules also the 2012 stagecoach lineup is shit compared to past years. Looking into the arizona country thunder.

Gone every year since it started, except for 2011 because I got roped into chairing a clean up weekend over in Catalina. We will be going this year as well, and we're a group of 8-10 usually. We've always stayed at a condo in PGA West. It's about a 3 mile walk (which sucks on a Sunday night drunk off yer butt in cowboy boots and jeans by the way), but it's really not bad on a beach cruiser. And we are at the extreme south end of PGA West from the festival. There are a lot of condos that are available in PGA West for that weekend, and you get the bonus of a couple of hours by one of the pools, then a late BBQ lunch before heading over and also late night jacuzzi and checking each other for ticks on the golf course. :-)

Im a regular reader but not a regular poster and we are still in. It has been very discouraging checking the boards and only seeing jersey posts. It is either a really bad spammer hitting a slow message board site or a brilliant "regular poster" who is "out" for this year and having some fun. The skeptic for me leans towards the second option.
With less campers and the hi end prices, maybe we will get double wide camping spots?!?!?! Just putting it out there. I am looking forward to seeing the camping map to see the locations and changes.

I notice we have not sold out yet. I think last year we didn't sell out until end of January. BUTTTT If SC needs some ticket sales all they have to do is to allow the RV owners to purchase another 4 wrist bands and RV passes for each coach. I bet they would sell a lot of tickets. My RV sleeps 10 and choosing whom gets to go and whom doesn't is getting my offspring's significant others a little nervous and me just down right scared. I think the one's I don't pick will cost me a few birthday and Christmas presents next year. Guess I could draw names from a hat or publish a list a leave town until after the concert.

As soon as they posted their new prices and new rules, we decided that we were not going to go. Goldenvoice is the one who stretched it to 3 days and put the cap on the crowd size....so to blame the participants was insulting. I bought my Country Mega Ticket and will be enjoying country music all summer long and next year we plan on going to Country Thunder. personally, I liked the line up, but found it ironic that they would have headliner Toby Kieth, the patron saint of the working class beer drinking regular folk singing about red cups......and the kind of crowd that Goldenvoice said it does not want any more, lol

I'm in! Last year was my first year, and although I am disappointed I won't be camping onsite, I'm happy to be sharing the weekend with my girlfriend and best friend that just got back from Afghanistan. We're tent camping at the Shadow Hills RV resort. If anyone else staying there sees this, look for the big KCCO flag, stop by and have a beer on us!!
