Somebody really needs to explain the NO RENTALS policy. That is completely UNFAIR! We have gone to Stagecoach 4 years in a row, now we can't go because we don't own an RV!

And the Hotel Packages are RIDONCULOUS! Shuttling to and from the party is no way to party!

this SUCKS!!!

agreed

and if you add in the more expensive price for general admission tickets.. a lot of people will probably opt not to go this year

I have a lot of friends that rent and they are going to be pissed, but at the same time it will be kind of nice because it will be more controlled environment.. I have a feeling the City of Indio had something to do with these changes as well.. Maybe to many renters that didnt know how to drive the RV's

It's won't be nice. It will be lame. The best thing about music festivals is having different people, who share a love of a similar music genre, come together and have a good time.

Lame sauce. A whole bunch of it. Everywhere. I hate this!

Yeah I get that things can get out of control but come on? Forget even knowing someone that has an RV either -- that person HAS to be there. I just think that a mellow RV owning crowd that excludes the majority (renters) just sucks and I am super bummed that this is the first year in a while I won't be going :(

But the thing is - most of the local rental places would go and set them up for u! We rented RV's one year - 4 of them to be exact and no one in our party ever had to drive it. So I can't imagine that people having trouble driving them is the issue.

Yeah what ARE the issues here? It's completely from left field! Tell us why you're making such asshole rules.

I'm so disappointed! For several years, the hubby and I have gone to Stagecoach- in a rented RV. Now we're not in the 20 something or even 30 something age bracket- but we loved the energy in ED II - everything about it...:confused:from the octobong to the beer can jousting or watching young guys making the walk of shame the following morning... A very large part of the fun was simply being a part of the fun.

This year, there will be no Rv camping for us... Or the group of young guys that wanted to come with us. We haven't decided if we're going to actually go this year or not...

Another option I thought of is to take our Rv party (and I'm talking a bunch of the stagecoach renters) to a nearby Rv park.... Are there any? Anyone interested?

Indian Wells RV Resort, a bunch of people who used to go to ED1 and ED11 are headed there, I am an RV owner and I am also headed there. $75 per night, max of 8 people, with swimming pools and shuttle!!! It's about 3.4 miles from the venue, you do have to buy a shuttle pass if you want to use the shuttle.

this SUCKS!!! What you just said is probably what caused the whole thing. It only takes one fool to start a fire that ruins it for bunch of people.

You are correct SPK BUT people who attend church should be able to also go to Stagecoach. As Mr. Jackson sings...looking for a good time!

I think if you rent, you should be invited to camp also. Maybe give your rental information.

The word "party" is not a bad word. If they don't want people to DRINK, don't sell DRINKS! If you sell alcohol you have to expect people to drink it. Now do you expect them to drink and drive or wait in line for a cab or taxi? And why does EVERY OTHER country festival in the country NOT have crazy rules and go to extremes like this? I KNOW people who go to Coachella, and there are faaar more drugs going on than SC. Any good salesperson knows that you have to market to your AUDIENCE. Last I checked, that's us.

Now are we going to religon? Because I am a church-going Christian as are many of my friends who attend SC and drink beer and play (gasp) beer pong. SC has never discriminated against "church-goers". It's just a FACT that the majority of their audience drink beer and "party" which somehow seem to have turned into two taboo words.

When “I” think of church I think of family instead of “party”. This is in no way the truth, just a generalization in my own upbringing. You can drink beer and party and still be responsible and actually have fun.

Stagecoach is a business and has a COO, CFO, Presidents, Vice-Presidents, accountants, investors, and vendors and so on and so on. You start a business and you make up the rules as you go along. Some people are going to like them and some people are not. With that said this business decides which direction it wants to go in. Goldenvoice has decided that it wants to rein in the party atmosphere and make it more of a family friendly event for Stagecoach. The new rules may or may not be the answer to what they want to accomplish. They have accomplished pissing off a lot of people who prefer and are used to the party atmosphere. Change is never easy or welcomed with open arms. Some people try using the argument…BUT COACHELLA this and Coachella that. Different events run by the same company do not necessarily mean they should have the same rules or regulations. They ARE different types of music that do attract different types of crowds.

I have had friends of mine who were considering coming to stagecoach and bringing their 16 and 7 year olds. I made sure to tell them that this is not an event for children of any age. (JMO) Even though they offer a hoot n nanny area for little ones and a BBQ contest and a Soap Opera tent etc… (In my opinion) the way Stagecoach was for 2012 it should have been an 18 and older event. No, I have never RV’ed or tented or car camped BUT I do get to walk through or past all the parties that are happening which are in full swing 24/7. Stagecoach tried to have different areas of RV camping…one advertised as family friendly with an early curfew to the let’s party all day and night area. Problem was that they were self-policed and we know that doesn’t work. Stagecoach is going to try to keep the self-police system by making it only RV’s with their owners figuring that the owner will take responsibility for each occupant. This may or may not work (I personally don’t think so)…time will tell.

I’ve seen another argument that the new rules will have a bunch of drunk people driving back to their hotels or rentals. This may be turn out to be true but just like in normal life I police myself to when I have my last drink before I get behind the wheel to drive anywhere. Trust me, that long walk sucking down a bottle of water and I keep a baby ice chest in my car with cold bottled water waiting for me in the trunk does the trick. If I don’t do a good job then I take a taxi or have a sober friend drive me to where I need to go. Just like in real life some people self-police themselves fine and others get DUI’s.

You can blame people’s bad behavior on lack of security but the security people hired at Stagecoach can only do so much. Law enforcement with guns and tasers with the ability to arrest people should be all over the place. How would that atmosphere feel like? I would like to see more real police officers than what has been utilized in the past but not so many that it feels like a prison event.

I was not planning on going to SC13 because I personally think the party has gotten out of hand for my taste. I saw a lot of bad stuff go down and just grateful that I was not drug into it by being at the wrong place at the wrong time. I also think that Goldenvoice is not going far enough with the new rules (JMO) to make this event a family friendly one.

I’ve noticed that the pissed off people that the new Stagecoach rules have created are signing up for events that are more “party all out” friendly. That is every ones choice to make and always has been. Who knows, Goldenvoice may change their minds and make Stagecoach back to one big party but if they do they should remove all of the kid friendly festivities and make it an 18 or older event.

I agree with much of what you are saying Rose. Nobody says don't have fun or don't drink. It is just saying be responsible and not act like a fool. When you excessively drink or act like a fool then you get new rules. I drink at Stagecoach and I also drink when I'm not at Stagecoach, but the problem here is that people have made it a big party instead of a big Concert. You can have a party at your house, but have fun trying to get Toby Keith to play at it.
