View Full Version : Fresh Water Service....SUCKS!
The fresh water service is terrible this year. We have three rv's in our group and have not seen a truck on S 104 yet. Really bad this year.

We are on S 105 and saw them several times but it would have been good to have a telephone number to call. Seems like in years before we had signs to put out when we needed water.

And when they did finally come around on Sunday afternoon to N104th they charged us $80.00. Just curious how much they charged everyone, we felt screwed!!!! Pumping was only $40, you would think that would have been more expensive!!!!

I agree. We were in ED1 row 110. We ran out of water on Friday mid day. We started taking shifts waiting for the water truck. I missed most of sat. Eve concert waiting. Wanna know when it finally made it to our RV? Sunday evening at 6:30. We had no water all that time! I felt like we were playing survivor using melted ice to wash dishes, etc. By the time it came around we decided not to get it because we were pulling out this morning.
I talked to the owner of the water truck company manning one of the trucks. He was hot, exhausted, and working his butt off. He told me the festival contracted for 5 trucks for the two thousand campers. Some of the RVs take 20 min. to fill. On Saturday when it became apparent there was a huge problem, the festival asked for more trucks, and he tried but his business is 300 miles away, and he only had one more permitted truck ( he did bring that one). He was really nice despite being harrassed by many, many people.
Why we didn't have the cards to make prepayments this year is beyond me. I don't understand paying all that money for concert and campsite and then not being able to enjoy anything because you are at the RV waiting for a water truck that never makes it.
Oh well. Hope they learned something from it.
I am going through depression this afternoon because it's over! :(. Besides the water thing I had sooooo much Fun! I can't wait till next year!!!

The owner told me he was contracted to charge a flat rate of 80.00 for everyone. So if you had a bus with a 100 gallon tank or a small RV with a 40 gallon, you paid the same

if some of you needed water so bad why just sit there waiting? why not be proactive and search out someone? or sit on main street looking for a truck driving back and forth down the lanes? borrow a bike and go for a little cruise...so many ways.

Cooter, so many people searched for them, and pleaded their case as to why they needed their water before the next person in line. The poor truck drivers were threatening to quit right there.
The way it worked was, they started with a truck in each area. It started at one end of the first row, and started crawling down the row from RV to RV. Like I said, it sometimes takes 20 min to fill an RV. So you can understand how painfully slow it went. Some people also wanted big pools filled. Then the trucks tank would get empty, so it would have to leave and come back full. Starting where it left off, it would begin the crawl again.
Each truck had a festival employee riding with it to collect money. The one I talked to said they were very sorry, but would absolutely not go out of order.
So the people on the other end of the field were getting really frustrated, and did search them out complaining and most were hostile to them (heat, frustration at waiting, alcohol, etc) . On Saturday afternoon when I talked to the owner, he said he would not stop and was willing to work all night if needed to get us water. But around 8:00 the situation with a lot of angry people was getting out of hand. They had the mounted security assigned to stay with the truck. Then security shut it down because they were concerned for the driver. So he came back the next day. (Sunday), we saw him on row 8 in the morning. It took him all day to get to us, at 6:30, in row 10. But we decided to save the 80.00 because we were dealing with it and really only had last night left.
What's done is done, I'm not complaining about it anymore. I just hope Stagecoach learned for next year. More water trucks, and letting people prepay and put the card in the window seems a better way to go.

Cooter...bugging the truck drivers only makes the situation more difficult, like craftykimmer said, you had to wait your turn, if you ever got a one!?!?!
As for the remaining comments, lets review the last few years...timing was the hardest part, but if you were patient then you got service. I never waited more than a few hours and could see several trucks working in the area. Last year one driver told me they had 10 trucks working from sun up to sun down and the best part was the price was only $40.00!! Goldenvoice decided that (5) trucks was enough but they had to know they had a problem on Friday and chose to do nothing!!!
This year Goldenvoice was greedy and wanted their cut, thats why the price doubled...because apparently they aren't making enough money on the RV spaces, concert tickets, food, ice, etc.
If you want to complain, then talk to someone at Goldenvoice...I am!!

sounds like they need to refuse to fill pools and jacuzzis, except maybe on the first day when most tanks are still full.
really can't believe that they needed security to escort the trucks. security should have just grabbed those causing trouble and cut off their wristbands and removed them from the premises.

There several reasons this year was so bad with the water. Already written that they cut the trucks from 8 trucks to 5.
What hasn't been mentioned is GV basically took over managing the service this year for a set fee to the contractor.
They required a GV employee along with each truck to collect the money.
Thursday - the trucks sat idle - no one from GV showed the entire day to collect the money so no trucks were allowed out (a day when most pools are filled)
Friday - no one from GV showed up to ride with the driver/operators until 10AM - they lost 3 hours of production, and all those pools waiting for large fills.
We too waited until after 7pm on Saturday for a fill - finally left. Fill on Sunday 10am.
GV can do a better job

Its crazy that we were so close to eachother and had completely different experiences. I thought the water service was overboard until i walked down a few isles on sunday and noticed everyone was looking for trucks and getting pissed about it. We were on S 105 and i thought they came by a few times a day. I needed my shidder pumped and was looking out for the dumper truck but only water trucks came by and i was getting annoyed. I was awake at 6:30 each morning and passed on water trucks each morning. They might have been empty or busy though because i never needed water.
My first year stagecoach in 09, we payed for water 3 times... Second year i brought an extra 55gal drum... This year i had two 55gal drums and lots more drinking water and 2gal bottles. As much as its a learning experience for goldenvoice, its also a learning expeirienc for the campers too. Sorry to hear about your experience.
If most of you required water consequently bad why just sit down there holding out? why not be aggressive and find someone? or lay on main street buying a truck driving forward and backward down the particular lanes? borrow a new bike and invest in a little cruise trip... so several ways.
All was done plus, to no avail.

trandulkare is a spammer. A few ways to tell. Signature takes you to a different sight (oty hotels) other than Stagecoach. The sentence is english gone bad and a kinda copy from Cooter above.
