Maybe Countrygurl can give a better answer on this, but last year I was front row behind VIP on the main stage, and don't recall any of the VIP section being tented. There may have been a small tarp but as the sun progressed over the sky, all areas were unshaded...
The only shade I recall were over the smaller stages and in the beer gardens.
I have sun issues also, this is why I camp- so i can go back to my trailer inbetween acts.

There isn't tenting over the seating area in front of the main stage.

I'd do general admission & head for the shade tents. They are far from the stages, but generally you can hear the music.

Get a very large cowboy hat...;) :D
But seriously, there was no shade at either of the two largest stages. Although standing in the beer garden (those had shade) closest to each stage, you had a decent view, far, but not bad. I was surprised anyway.

The good thing is if your main objective is to see Tim, he will be a headliner so more than likely he will be the last show of the night....no sun!!!

Looks like I'll be wearing a straw hat and plenty of sunscreen. Do they provide misters like they do in Vegas?

I don't recall seeing any misters. If I remember correctly last year, it wasn't as hot as we thought it would be. I noticed though everyone started off in cowboy boots & jeans yet by the end of Sunday were sporten shorts & flip flops...

Yeah they had misters last year- they were by those wierd looking cloth canopy shaded areas. We used them last year. A lot of fun.

OH YEAH - THOSE MISTERS WERE FUN LAST YEAR! I Spent a lot of time in their area...it was hot...but not as hot as July or August when it gets to 100+.
There are shade tents in general admission - that is where we put our chairs and they weren't right up close and personal but were still decent...
Have fun!
