I figured we need a thread for those of us all car camping together (carvaning in from Morongo). Especially for stuff we're bringing, so we can share certain things too.

I have 2 of the Brookstone Pod Speaker things (they're like $180 each) that play iPods/phones remotely. They DO plug in, but since we have no electricity, they need batteries. They each run on 8 "D" batteries. I'm bringing a bunch (I think I have 20, maybe a few more), but we need more. Can anyone bring any or have any lying around at home by chance??

I'm bringing a ton of jello shots Raquelita and I are making, and some salsa and guac (for the campsite AND the meat-n-greet), and various other stuff. Anybody bringing an abundance of something? Let's discuss! I like to be SUPER prepared!

Awesome! The batteries actually last a long time in there, I just don't want it to run out! This year I have TWO of those speakers, and now one is wireless, and the other can transmit from it so it should be pretty awesome!

haha I have done this also ....shhhhhh just don't tell my boss. I can bring batteries also. And what ever else we need just let me know. I'm also doing Jell-O shots but not sure how to pack them n keep them from melting.

Put them in an ice chest (separate if you can). Leave the ice in the bags and put on the bottom and then put jello shots in Ziplog bags so they don't get wet as the ice melts. Should work out fine! And yay, there's ALWAYS room for more J-E-L-L-O :p

I wish i could commit to meeting up, but sadly I can't leave SD til 8am and with traffic and all can't quite guarantee I will be to Morongo by 10am. My friend and I will try, though. They are pretty inexpensive - just make sure your getting a wattage that you wont overload. 200W should be fine for charging phones and stuff.

I will have to ask Nikki. I'm borrowing it from her. As for the eating good comment, how about we make it Every Man for Himself? We can spit the cost for the utensils, cups, condiments, etc. This way we don't have to wait on anyone, or make something different. We just eat when we're ready and so on. What do you think?

A 200W...probably not. More than likely need a 400W or higher. You would have to look at each item, and figure out what the wattage is - on the grill it should be on the information at the bottom. for the hair dryer...well I have no idea :p.

I'm going by costco for my D batteries and am thinking of picking up a couple packs of them. Can't remember how many are in the pack but it seemed like alot. I'll figure out how many I need because everything I'm bringing that needs batteries which is four things needs D's!!! But I'm sure I'll have a couple to share if needed and will gladly do that. I'm making jello shots as well and think I'm going to stick a small ice chest in my car specifically to keep them in there. Going to go to smart and final for the "Red" solo cups so I'm sure we'll have enough to share. I'll have jumper cables in my car in case anyone needs those. 1875 watt!? Seems pretty high. you would need to get a 2000 Watt power inverter....thats quite a bit of power...and a 2000 watt inverter would be pretty expensive...

I got a hair dryer from Camping World ( there is one on the I 10 on the way to Indio about San Bernardino area) that plugs into my cigarette lighter -do they even call them that anymore- for about $22.. I have also seen them at sports stores and occassionaly camping depts of chain stores like Target

None of us are experts in car camping, this is the first year that it's being done. We've tent camped in the past with our cars in a parking lot. You should just measure out a a 10' x 30' spot and try to fit everything in. That way you are well prepared.

Yeah, Im parking my GMC Sonoma (smaller than Tahoe) and I am concerned that we'll be running over! I figure everyone will be in the same boat so we'll all just wing it when we get there! This Car Camping thing is new to all of us!

We discussed this before, but I don't think it's allowed. The rules state that you have to have a car in your spot. Something we might consider is set up multiple tents in some spots so we have other spots for partying. We'd still have a car in every spot, but not necessarily a tent in every spot.

I like it. I was mapping out our spot and with my truck, EZ Up, Tent and Beer Pong its pretty tight.

Park your vehicle sideways into the spot next to u.. and have everyone do that all the way across.. will that work.. it will overlap but at least part of a vehicle will be in each spot.. then pile tents and canopys on the rest.

I'm sure it will fit, but having that large tent is going to take up a lot of room. Get to know your neighbors early on and maybe you guys can work it out to share some of the space. ;)

i am in a similar boat. my mom bought us this huge tent (10 x 14) and even with my little honda accord it's gonna be a tight fit. but i'm trying not to stress it... it's Stagecoach - just go with it! everything willl work out. :)

I can't wait. I so need this time away. This whole being dizzy having headaches is really getting old, being put off work for 3 weeks now, aint helping either. I looked up the measurements of my Tahoe from bumper to bumper and then looked up the width and length of my tent. Wrote down the size of the spot and took it to one of our classrooms that was a math class. There were two groups that actually worked hard on it and both of them came up with configurations that actually say I have more than enough room. I asked to teacher to please check their calculations but I'm bringing both diagrams with. Gave them a project and saved my brain from going bonkers. So I'm feeling better about it that's for sure :)

I was just looking at the map, car camping seems incredibly small actually. Even if you're on the complete opposite side, it'd still be close enough to drunkenly stumble too.

Those were my EXACT thoughts. But I'm kind of a hippie. LIke no HFCS, no artificial colors/flavors, etc. There are obviously exceptions (jello shots! because I don't have the patience to make out of gelatin), but I'm normally a super weird hippie.

I hope we all agree that SCMB CAR CAMPING GROUP is what we want on the banner, because I already started making it. A white back ground with royal blue, 4 inch letters. I'm going to add some stickers to it, not telling what but, I think you'll all like it. If not we can trash it. But, you'll like it. There will be lots of room for writing names on it. Will most likely be with Nancy & Kelly who are staying in the same hotel & will be in the ADA lot too. If others are planning on going in early to save space, we're going to aim for the same general area that we were last year - in case you're interested and able to save space by us! If not, I'm sure we'll cross paths throughout the weekend!

Not new to Stagecoach (2nd year) but new to camping. I can tell you that everyone that I have been talking to on here is absolutely wonderful, very helpful and extremely friendly. Country fans in general are the best there are and being from SE GA I know country! Come on over and say hi!

Just wanted to throw it out there that this is the LEAST prepared I've ever been for Stagecoach. Panic is starting to set in. I have nothing packed and am going to have to do it all after work today. Plan is to leave no later than 6am tomorrow so we don't miss th caravan at Morongo.

Dont worry...some amazing things can happen when you have a looming deadline....haha.

My kitchen is just staged with stuff right now - its ridiculous. Gonna have to do some interesting packing to get it all in the truck - plus 4 other people's gear....lol.

hey everyone, when you finally get in, past the lines, searches, parking, unpacking and setting up. you should all post what cross streets and what camping lot you are in. then people can go find eachother. im not sure what street names they will be using this year but say you are in ED2 near the corner of THIS/THAT.. etc. like that. maybe I can swing by and snap some photos for the website!

we'll have to find some kind of "home base" marker. For you're site and then, for my drunkass to stumble back to my area and pass out. I plan to get a good 2 to 3 hours of sleep each night. If they had an onsite Starbucks... that would make so much money!
