....Your car battery will indicate Amp Hours because those batteries are made for Cranking Amps (like the difference between a cheetah and a turtle, one is built for short burst of energy, the other for the long haul) You really need a deep cycle battery. YOur car battery will ony run the lights for a short period of time before you have to recharge it.

I suggest buying a deep cycle battery and returning it when your done (try wallmart or costco, or somewhere that has a great return policy). YOu can also get a small photo cel solar chager for $50 that can charge your battery all day and you can run it all night. (http://www.amazon.com/Sunforce-50022-Battery-Trickle-Charger/dp/B0006JO0TC/ref=sr_1_2?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1332801484&sr=1-2) Or just hook up jumper cables and run your car/truck for about an hour.

Or you can even drag that big ass battery over to my spot in ED1 in the morning and i will charge it for you with my trickle charger (now how about them apples) I will only charge you $800 for the electricity and $45 service charge! (just kidding, detailed directions of how you built this table will work for me)

Ya i couldnt get into the battery area quickly and I took a break from work to take a look. Just looked at the top of it. Imma look at it tonight though and see what the Amp Hours are on my battery.

I was able to find some things online about the battery tho...it does have a 140 minute reserve...i was just checking out a duralast deep cycle....also has a 140 minute reserve....

The sad thing is about those plans...lol. I work for an architectural firm (training to become an architect one day haha) and I use AutoCAD daily...i have the plans drafted up in AutoCAD....lol

t24mog
03-26-2012, 03:15 PM
just did some research....you can pretty much take the reserve capacity and divide it by two and get your Amp Hours...so if i have 140 reserve capacity...that gives me 70 amp hours (ill confirm later)

Now the lights are 24 watts per string and I have 2 strings on the table...to convert it into amps.... (24 X 2)/120 = .4 amps....

so if I have 70 amp hours and the lights are drawing .4 amps...(70/.4) = 175 hours....am I doing that right? haha.

i think i may have found my answer...

http://www.cabelas.com/product/Boating/AutoBoat-Batteries-Chargers/Marine-Deep-Cycle-Batteries%7C/pc/104794380/c/104698080/sc/104446080/Cabelas-Rechargeable-12-Volt-Battery/700551.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse.cmd%3FN %3D1100564%26WTz_l%3DSBC%253BBRprd700551&WTz_l=SBC%3BBRprd700551%3Bcat104446080

I can connect the inverter to that guy and not even run off my truck.

Your pretty close... except your gunna loose some eficiency in your extension cords, adaptors, inverters, and charge capacity of the battery.

The battery you show on your other post you can find a lot cheaper on EBAY. I use those batteries for my kids Power Wheels... Look here for a veriety of batteries for as cheap as i can find them. http://stores.ebay.com/The-Battery-Geek/12-Volt-SLA-Batteries-/_i.html?_fsub=2672643013&_sid=240056493&_trksid=p4634.c0.m322

Then you will need a 12v battery charger (try wallmart in the auto section for a $20 one) I suggest you dry run the lights at your house and see how long they run on one battery. You might need another battery, or need to charge it some time during the weekend.

Remember, if you plan to have electricity around "fluids", make sure you install some sort of safety protection. An inline 30amp fuse on the hot side before your inverter should work (and bring extra fuses incase you have a few accidents)

Please keep us posted how this turns out. I might be in the market to make one similar to this.

Can you post a picture of your AutoCad rendering? Would love to see that!

Also, where did you get the LED rope light?

ya, there will be some resistance. If i go the small 12V batteries I can buy 2 or 3. and charge them up as they die and rotate them out. I used to use them on my fishing kayak for a fish finder.

Ya i actually saw this video on youtube yesterday...thinking about building it. and storing the batteries inside....i could put like 2 or 3 of the smaller batteries in it and always have a power pack! would be great for like the beach and stuff.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Tf3fngKA-c&list=PL563A7299BFFDF975&index=1&feature=plpp_video

Ill post up the PDF or sheet that I created to print and show ya it. some of the stuff ive changed on the fly when I was working on it and the table legs arent shown.

I got the LED rope light at Hope Depot. (2) 13'6" LED ropelights by Hampton Bay. LED for the lower energy usage. They were $30 bucks each. You have to look at the rope lights tho. There are 2 different blub orientations that theu use when the make them....one is where the bulbs are mounted horizontally, and one vertically. you want the vertically mounted ones because the light looks even. I used some horizontal ones at first....it didnt look right because the lights would be brighter from one side because they were pointed a certain direction rather than straight up and down.

I actually had dreams last night of beer pong tables... Yes, Im completly sick in the head! Since I finished my other stagecoach project early, I was left with no major stay up late night and spend a bunch of money on more worthless projects for stagecoach.... UNTIL NOW! Thanks for the ispiration T24mog!!!

(PS - dont tell my wife who you are, she might want to punch you in the face by the time stagecoach gets here)

Ohhh and also.... probably too late for this, but you could go with 12v LED lights and completely eliminate the need for an inverter. Just monday morning quarterback thoughts.

My sentiment exactly girl. 'If you hook that K9er up to the 530 K double wouble power extentions you get a 9er 2 wammie tammie.' That's pretty close to what I read.

That beer bong table looks like it's from the future. I like the bag toss idea. So rodeo/town carnival of you :)

Well, basically the wammie tammie is linked to the trajectory rotator cup so. Just flip the 9er switch and pop the engine tackle. You should be good to go.

Love the CAD drawing! As a builder looking at drawings all day, this practical drawing of a pretty impractical object is funny to me.

Also like that you were able to make the table and two cornhole boards with one sheet of plywood!

I think you should have some more technical call outs for the basic objects... ie... the cups.... 16 oz "Practical Fill"/18 oz "Flush Fill" soft-sided Polystyrene cup, color-Red, Model #P16RLR-00011, Manufacturer Solo, To be supplied by owner.

I am honored I could contribute to your table awesomeness. I'm officially going to be drinking beer from now until stagecoach as training. I don't think I'll have hard stuff there either. My tolerance is very high but... I really don't want to pass out for any of the performances.

My descent into oblivion is much slower with beer. And with these miraculous tables, all the more reason to keep it non-distilled :)

I want all trademark laws followed and will expect a 50 percent cut on all profits from the shirts.

I will post the video of the making of my trailer later. I never wanted to post on here before because it was against the rules to have that type of trailer. But now trailers are allowed to be pulled behind motor homes as long as they don't unhook and fit in the spot. (and technically it's still a vehicle made for sleeping).

If you are towing a trailer (NON MOTORIZED VEHICLE) behind your RV, you must fit both your RV and Trailer within the allotted 20x50 campsite space. NO EXCEPTIONS...... And Check!

Wow... that is amazing. We go camping all over , including the Colorado River where you'll see just about anything. Not seen anything so much fun and well put together. Although I have to admit, the blender run by a weedeater that made at least 300 margaritas in a little over an hour at one of our larger gatherings was an art form in itself. I am surprised in a nation of tailgaters and campers you don't go into the custom taligating business. Can't wait to see it in action. :)

Every time I take it out, i get lots of people telling me i should start selling them... They always say "this is soooo cool, you should go into buisness making theses" However I have yet to have one single person ask to buy it. NOT ONE! I started calling peoples bluffs and taking offers and still nobody will put up any money for the trailer. So I will not be selling them, unless you want to be my marketing manager. I have done some consulting on two other trailers. One guy lives in Tennessee, and another in So Cal which I will hopefully see at stagecoach. Both guys owe me a beer for my consulting fee!

LOL.. Strange you should mention that.. I retired from that very field after my accidents.. Only I was marketing people.. ( ;) not slave trade) Heck, been known to do promos just for a free invite to the launch party. I think you really do need to have a looksy into it. Not just blowin smoke.

Why dont you sit a while at the bar and see peoples reactions when I call their bluffs and if you help get a buyer for me I will pay you a handsome commision in a cold 12oz beverage of your choice.

GLORIOUS!!! One of the proudest things ive built in a long time. Frame welded on sunday and all major carpentry done! All that remains is minor trimwork, paint, electrical, graphics, mechanical, pre-function testing, and then pack it up and roll her out! Again, thank you for the inspiration, i wouldnt have thought to build a beer pong table until i saw yours.

Here is a little sneak peek to tickle your curiosity!

KUZN EDY
04-16-2012, 01:59 PM
I dont really use the bbq at stagecoach... mostly the bar. I spend a lot more time pre-cooking food at home so i have very little time spent cooking at stagecoach. Also this way if they shut me down at the grill, i can easily make the move into the RV without a hiccup. My back up plans even have back up plans.

Also, having 3 local firefighters in our group never hurts!

haha awesome! Im looking forward to playing a game or two on it.

Ive just recently thought of this...but Ive gotta figure a way to lock the table down...dont want some a-hole walking away with it when we are enjoying all of the great music. Has anyone had any problems with stuff being stolen from the campsites?

I haven't, but I HAVE heard horrer stories. Does your table have like metal legs? Maybe a bike lock attached from the table to your truck? That's what I plan to do with our bike(s). As long as it's not easy to dettach the table from the legs. I doubt anyone would go that far, but better safe than sorry!

Ya. It has metal legs - I have whats called a python lock. An interesting set up. I used it to lock down my kayak when I lived in an apartment complex and stored it outside. Gotta dig it up from somewhere..probably just lock it to my truck or something.

Ive had things stolen each year and in 2010... someone even stole a security golf cart and took a joyride (almost took out some inocent pedestrians too) That joyride ended right by our camp and was fun to watch the guy get what was coming to him by a very large and pissed off security gaurd. Lock it up... Yogi Bear is out there!

Haha, I remember hearing about that on this board afterwards!

Yeah... he was all proud of his friend, but didnt realize that a few inches seperated him from just getting a few sore ribs to possibly going to jail for really hurting someone. HE came around a blind turn real tight and almost took out a group of 4 women. It was a close call, then when he looked back and slowed down a big security gaurd took him out and had a little fun/revenge. All from the view of my bar... Great action, but over very quick! thats when it pays to stay awake til 4am and watch the people!

Cant wait for the new stories of this year and all the stuff people see that blows their minds.

Plan it out and take your time. It will take patience. lol.

Took me 3 full weekends to build that one - mainly because of drying times and stuff for the stain and the urathane, but still took me a lot of time.

Had no problems with the urethane. Just use a soft brush or a foam one. The stiff brushes fling back, thus sending a little urethane all over your clothes and your work area. lol.

Where are you at with it?

What happened to the 12AH batteries and the inverter?

t24mog
04-19-2012, 11:41 AM
Just havent had time to dive into it. Lol.

I guess thats the best way to go. Get the small SLA batteries - use those. Build the battery box and batta bing, batta boom - im there. Im ordering the larger power inverter today.

Im just wondering if theres a better way to do it...lol. Thought about adding the solar so I can charge batteries as I need too. Shouldnt take to long to charge those smaller batteries with the solar right?

t24mog
04-19-2012, 11:45 AM
Then when i need to charge the battery- hook it up to the solar panel and take it out of the battery box - leave the panel and the battery in the truck...

the other nice thing is I could actually keep it attached to the battery while the battery is being used during the day to charge cell phones and stuff...

KUZN EDY
04-19-2012, 11:57 AM
Ive got two of those batteries in my garage. And i have a 3 phase charger that im bringing with me to charge my RV battery while im running the stereo...

This is what i suggest... You buy one of the 12AH SLA batterie an your inverter and complete all wiring necessary to make it work off one battery. Then you have a three choices when the battery dies:
1. Walk over to ED1 and find my RV and charge it on my 12v rapid charger that i will bring.
2. Walk over to ED1 and find my RV and Swap out your battery with a charged one that I will bring and have ready for you.
3. Ride a bike over to ED1 and find my RV and drink a beer with me while your battery is charging and then go back when your done.

Which one will you choose?

t24mog
04-19-2012, 12:00 PM
haha oh, those all sound good....

I tend to lean towards the drinking beer more. Ill bring beer lol.

Well check this out...if I got the solar...could I leave it hooked up to my truck...plug the inverter into my truck and just run it off the truck with an extension cord? No need to worry about a battery?

KUZN EDY
04-19-2012, 12:20 PM
Yup! Thats the best way to go.

And if drains your battery too quick you can use that little thing called the ignition switch and run your truck for a few minutes and charge your battery.

(Maybe bring a dryer vent tube and hook up to your exhaust pipe and run the fumes out to the middle isle or upwards.)

t24mog
04-19-2012, 12:24 PM
Ya, I actually think that would be a good idea for the daytime, but if Im running the table at night...the solar is kind of out. So it seems like the battery pack would still be a way that I would need to go.

Ok ordering the solar just because it would be great to have for the daytime for charging phones and stuff...not having to find a power tree somewhere...

does urs fit nice?

just looking at it it doesn't look like it would fit

i had a piece of rubber tubbing laying around and i put that over the spray nosel and than attached it to the tiny nipple inside the the hose connection of the misters. seems to work ok now.

i was afraid to cut the misters and have them not fit. let me know if u cut yours and it fits... lol

I cut the hose attachment off and then heated up the tube with a lighter....took a couple times and re-cutting, but I got the end of the mister tubing to slip on and then zip tied it down.

Unfortunetly, the plexglass on top warped in the heat. It held up great - except for the plexi. gonna have to figure something out. haha.

Yup, I had a bit of an issue as well. They worked perfectly on Thursday but every day after, we had issues. I was thinking it was because we used water from the coolers and such and something must of clogged the little holes.
Hmmmmmm wonder what it was?

You can unscrew the tips and soak them in vinegar overnight. Worked fine for me on night two. (day three worked better than day one) Also pump a good amount of clean water through your system when the tips are off to clear the line. Wouldnt hurt to put a cup of vinegar in the water before your flush the system. (I didnt do that, but will next time)

CLR would work much faster, and is a good thing to have in your RV supply. Just dont soak your O-rings in CLR.

The issue is the hard water calcifies in the little holes and it gets even worse with dirty water and the heat. My mister kit came with a fine strainer, but I had to bypass it for the connection to the pump. (as im sure you all did)

Ok. So solar and power inverter are ordered and should be here tomorrow or early next week (gotta love newegg.com).

Now Im thinking I will have to build the battery pack, but that will be cheap and easy. Just need to get a battery box..and that other stuff. easily done at walmart :). And I can pick up the battery at like frys or home depot.

How did you battery pack work? how long did it run? What where your hang ups and lessons learned? Im thinking of doing something similar with my mobile tiki bar.
