So with car camping happening this year I just got the idea for a truckbed pool. Has anyone ever done this successfully? Would anyone be interested?
Looks pretty simple to make but I'm not sure how I'll fill it up in car camping. (Plus I still need to convince @Amber Nicole to let me park my truck in the spot haha.)
I imagine its not against any camping rules?
Truck bed tarp and a shit load or H2o.?

Basically yeah, I was thinking whiskey but that might get gross after the first hour or two...
Figure I can double bag the tarp so it hopefully doesn't leak and cause a swamp and maybe put some rubber tubing in the creases to seal the tailgate.

Yeah.....I think probably not for the camping area, for a few reasons. One being that there's no way to get water into it, lol. The other being if it accidentally (or on purpose, people there are REALLY drunk) gets poured out, our tents and stuff aren't gonna hold up well. Dance party in the truck bed instead! Trust it will be awesome.

Yeah, logistically water would be a challenge. And I was already trying to think of ways to lock the tailgate but it's probably not worth the risk. Haha but the pictures I found of it look awesome!

The water truck would fill it up for you, but how would you empty it?

There aren't any water trucks in car camping, are there?!?!?

Sounds like a fun idea, but in reality it may turn out to be more trouble than it's worth. No sense in working hard at SC.....we're supposed to be there to party!!!!

The water truck does come pretty close to car camping but not all the way through the area so that would be a challenge.
The water bed mattress would be sweet if it fit but I am also concerned for what Chev mentioned. It would not be ok if it leaked and got everyones stuff wet. Itd be different if we were in ED2.
Maybe with a little better planning we'll pull it off next year!

Yeah, this is why I walk over to EDII and meet people who have pools I can hang out in. I met these lovely strangers last year who sat me in a pool and gave me jello shots~

That's where we did the hula hoop contest and had jello wrestling, right?

HA just saw the idea for the pool.. I agree with everyone but I do Like the idea of your truck parked in the space instead if my car.
Lock the tailgate put in tarp and take a few 55 gallon drums... And like the song... When you get there just tip em over and pour it out! If you pull it off you will be popular! And may start a new trend for SC 2013

Thats pretty much exactly what I was thinking, I could just fill up a large container somewhere outside and drive it in.
@Amber Nicole thats fine with me! I have parking so we'll just swap when we meet up.

Good idea. Tricky. Will be extremely impressed if anyone pulls it off. Will also make sure and not park next to said puller-offer. I have too bad of luck.

The funny part is, I had a REALLY bad migraine, but was still sitting there with a beer, cigarette (blech), and jello shot. I sat there about an hour or so and then somebody gave me an Imitrex and a bed to sleep in in an air conditioned RV. An hour nap and I awoke to being handed a cactus cooler and was ready to go!

How's the pool coming ?
Everyone who wants to camp near me is scared of it! So no-go for this year, but I'll try to come up with something Full Proof for next year.

Why Couldn't you just get one of those pools that you blow up at Walmart Not the $4.99 ones with the blowup top ring ( I had a 9' diameter-some are rectagular one for my grandkids). They take the shape of what you blow it up in ..lol..we have a raised garden bed.. and then fill it up. Sealed, heavy duty plastic , contained and with a pull out plug when you are done

Worried the water will get hot? I actually thought of this but if I do a blow up pool it'd be fine on the ground. Significantly less 'redneck' if you ask me! haha

Pool on the ground isn't a bad idea, just figurin out how to fill it is the hardest part! I was thinking that the water would get hot, and the metal might melt the plastic.

lol.. Yea Sounds dicey. I was presuming a truck bed liner ..opps. :o
I did check out the make that I have. It's an Intex. Have it up all summer from May to October , on it's 3rd year now,. My grandkids are 9 & 11 and they have neighborhood friends who join them. Plenty of time to plan for next year.
