Stagecoach first timer here. There are a lot of rules, most of which I can understand. But here a couple I would like some additional info on.

1. If anyone in the vehicle is under the age of 21, organizers reserve the right to deny entry of the vehicle and/or confiscate alcohol.

This sounds like parents with a 17 year old child along (our situation) are subject to being denied entry or having their beer taken away. It does say "reserve the right" but isn't that up to the mood of the person making the decisions?

2. Feel free to bring your own food and beverages into the camping area, however no open fires, gas, charcoal or any other cooking devices are allowed outside. No outdoor cooking

I can understand no charcoal, but no gas grills too? I have freiends that have been to Stagecoach before and have said many people use a grill outside their motorhomes. Is this a new rule?

Thanks,
TK

The no grill has always been a rule. There are times when people get away with it, or sometimes security will finish letting you cook whatever you have on, but they do enforce the no cooking rule. In the tent/car camping areas it's a definite no. I've never seen anyone camping attempt it. In the RV's you can use your stoves and whatnot.

As for the alcohol thing, if you're parents with your kids, I'm pretty positive there won't be any issue at all. I think maybe they're trying to eliminate 19 & 20 year olds coming with 21 year old friends in a car full of booze.

They say no bbq's or anything of that nature, but in the rv camping area, especially ED2 everyone brings a propane BBQ and i even see some with charcoal. Never have seen it enforced, but like Chevgirl says definitely not in tent area.

The first year they did allow grills. Then second year I was told to turn off my grill and my shrimp wasn't even cooked thru, or my meat and they stood their and made sure I turned it off and threatened to take it away if I turned it back on. But everyone else was using theirs around us. Random harassment I guess.

One rule I have learned in all my SC's - If you don't make it a big deal, they won't make it a big deal.

Don't BBQ in the middle of the road. BBQ inside your area. If your 17 and want to have some beers, drink them inside your camping area. Don't walk around with a 12 pack from campsite to campsite.

Also, make friends with your neighbors. When you show up offer them a beer. They will be with you for the next 4 days. If they have a problem with you, you will have a problem.

Making friends is the best part of the experience. That and the music. Well and the beer. Okay it's all freaking amazing.

Don't forget flabongos, dizzy bat, and wizzard staff. And watching your friend pee on some guy who's riding her on the handle bars of his beach cruiser. That part is awesome.

I need to find your group come April!! Hahaha, I can't believe that happened in front of you.

What is Flabongos? My mind immediately goes to... boobs.

The basic rule is be courteous of others (including police and security). Everyone knows you're there to have a good time and as long as you're not an a__hole or blatantly breaking rules, you can get as crazy as you want!

Exactly just be mindful of others and be respectful and you will be fine.. Last year we had like 8 jager bottles outside on our table and the cops even came over and watched the UFC fights with us and didn't care at all

Our group pretty much rocks! When it gets closer to SC I put together a spreadsheet of all the SCMB peeps complete with phone numbers, arrival times, how to located each other, etc. We do matching tank tops (FestivalFan heads that up) and do a big group picture meetup. There's about....80 of us now, with prob about 30 who all hangout that weekend (and throughout the year).

Oh and also knocking UncleFeiny over while he's playing dizzy bat is fun too.

unless your the guy on the bike!

best advice i have from my experience... make friends with the security, authorities, and owners right away! (yes, the owners of the properties cruise around too on horses and golf carts) some of these people can be really cool and its best to get them on your side right away. hook them up with water, toilet privelage, food, whatever and it will most likely come back to benefit you. (got VIP wristbands both years from these folks)

The first year i went, they did not allow alcohol at all. My tiki bar was a key suspect right away. Hooked up the security gaurd with some water and a sandwich and he was planted at the tiki bar with us all weekend having a great time. The second day a police officer stopped by to check out our tiki bar and shenanigans for a few hours and enjoyed a few laughs. Didn’t realize who this cop was until someone pointed out his railroad tracks on his collar (yep, captain of the Indio PD). Saw him again the second year and he was cool with much more "rule bending" because we respected him both years. Its really all about respect.

Don't forget flabongos

haha, some guy walked over to our camp in overalls and his flabongo in a holster. After being the only one in our group to do it, my wife forced me to go brush me and use some mouthwash to kill the germs. Good times!!

Thanks all for the advice, makes sense. No problem with our group making friends with those around us and with the enforcers. :)

We actually have a couple of flambongos that get used on a regular basis!

Sounds awesome! I'd love to be apart of that if y'all have room for more. Have a feeling my flambongo card will be taken this year. This is getting me oh so excited :)

Oh there was nothing reckless about it, it was totally premeditated. Which is why it was a mere tap. Booze, spinning in circles, and gravity helped with the rest.
