I camp with a large group and ice always seems to be a major expense. Plus it's a PITA to carry from where the ice truck is parked back to the campsite.

Our motorhome has an ice maker, but it's as slow as the one at home. I'm gonna try something new next year, I'm buying a portable ice maker. WalMart.com (http://www.walmart.com/search/search-ng.do?search_query=portable+ice+maker&ic=16_0&Find=Find&search_constraint=0) seems to have the best prices. They're not cheap, but they make ice very fast, get good reviews and will hopefully pay for itself the first year. Bring on the Margarita's!

Just thought I'd pass it along...:D

this tip is not gunna help with the margaritas or coctails (directly)... but a huge help for me when camping in my RV and keeping a couple coolers of drinks and ice cold longer is filling gallon ziplocs with water and keeping them in a freezer rotation all weekend. Giant blocks of ice melt much slower and if you keep them rotating between your ice chest and your RV freezer it will keep it cold without melting the ice for your drinks you just bought for $10/bag. Can also use milk jugs, 2 liter bottles, water bottles, or any container really. bet this saves at least 3-4 bags of ice over 4 day. ($40-50)
