So I have camped the last few years, both in tent and RV. I'm pregnant and due 4/2/12. I will have a section late March or on 4/1. I do not usually bring my kids because its my time, but this year it's either bring baby w/babysitter or don't go. The don't go thing really isn't an option for me! I'm a die hard fan of country and SC. So my question is for the people in RV's with small children, how has it gone in years past and what campground do you stay in?

I think you need to purchase a festival ticket for the babysitter (even if they don't go into the festival). Children under 10 are free.

The international camp ground was mellow back in 08, but that was 4 years ago.. with the concert growing and ED II selling out i can't tell you how mellow it is now a days... but that is the one i recomend....

Don't bring a 4 week old baby out there. The heat and the dust is no place for someone that little. You can't compare someone bringing a child who is several years old to you bringing a child who is several weeks old. There are nasty things in the dust out there, molds, desert fever, etc. Things a little baby's lungs/immune system should not be exposed to. The only way to responsibly do this would be to get a hotel room for the baby to spend the weekend at. Somewhere with constant a/c and away from the polo fields.

I know babysitter needs a ticket as well, it'll probably be grandma. The RV has constant air and baby isn't going into the festival. I've been many times and have seen plenty of small babies. Children refers to ALL ages, not just the older ones. I've seen many families with babies/kids/children and my question was for them :)

Yes, I have 2 children who have come with me to the fest. Children. Not a newborn baby. Even with the baby in the rv crap from outside will get in everytime that door swings open or is closed. Just not something I would risk.

And trust me, I know the draw of these festivals. I have not missed a Coachella since 2004 and have gone at times when my health should have stopped me, but I went against better judgement and paid the price afterward. Last year may have been my last year ever as I sit an wait for a lung transplant and I am crushed at the prospect of that.

The air out there onsite is just horrible, perfectly healthy people have spent weeks sick afterwards. I just really worry about the lungs and immune system of a newborn in that environment.

ED-1 with the best power supply for your AC if your determined to come. 30 and 50 amp are available depending on your rig's needs.

Mornings in the RV areas are mellow and generally cool weather.....

After that it's AC and sealed windows -

Why don't you consider showing up Friday afternoon - and Leaving Sunday evening after the show - and leave new born at home with Grandma and some one to help her - I'm sure you know the options for food for baby staying home...

OR - you could purchase one of the newly offered HOTEL packages which include tickets and baby and grandma could stay there..... and find someone who will get you an extra Camp Ground band so you can have In and Out to visit baby.....

Not sure it's a good idea to leave a 3-4 week old for an out of town weekend. Actually, I am sure, not a good idea. Both my kids at 3-4 weeks were stuck to my wife's boob constantly. Not really possible to stockpile enough breastmilk in that period of time to leave your kid for several days. I couldn't imagine leaving our kids with anyone at that age.
