The dates are clearly going to be the 28th and 29th of April but, does anyone find it odd that they haven't even released the dates officially yet? I wondering if there are any sort of issues. They released the dates in early August last year. Do they not have a contract with the Polo Club and that is the hold up. Are they looking for a new venue? I doubt it but, it just makes me wonder what is going on.

This is the cause of the delay - from myDesert.com:

The Indio City Council voted 3 to 1 to delay approval of the two-year contract with Goldenvoice, the promoter of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and Stagecoach Country Festival. The delay was out of courtesy to La Quinta officials that voiced concern on Tuesday. Before the vote tonight, Indio City Council members were handed two letters, one signed by La Quinta Mayor Don Adolph and one... signed by La Quinta City Manager Thomas Genovese, requesting they hold off on approval of the contract for 30 days. According to the letters, the delay would allow both cities and the promoter time to address resident concerns and address the need for an environmental study to gauge such impacts as noise, pollution and traffic. Indio City Manager Dan Martinez said the City Council could not wait a month because of financial obligations and deadlines the promoter has to meet. The new contract also includes an extra day of Stagecoach — planned now for April 27-29.

UPDATE 5:32 PM, Oct. 18, 2011 (Hopefully this means Stagecoach also):
The La Quinta City Council decides this afternoon it supports Indio's new contract with the promoter of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival after initially questioning whether the annual music festival, which has been expanded, will cause problems for La Quinta residents.
