As a local I can tell you it may be very hot and the sun is intense that time of year. Note that the recored high for May is 117. It's going to be a rough time of the year to have an outdoor event of this type.

it CAN get very hot during the day, but it also gets very chilly during the evening. Bring shorts and a sweatshirt.
