So here's out situation. I'm giving my tent camping pass to my friend who's showing up on Thursday night (I'm showing up on Friday morning) and she's gonna setup my tent so our spots can be next to each other. Now when I get there Friday morning, she'll have my pass, so how can I park in the tent camping parking since I won't have it in my possession?? Or if I can't, what other alternatives can I do so that our camping spaces are side by side?

I'm not CountryGirl, but my guess would be that she could meet you on Monroe, the street you enter tent parking off of, and give you your pass to enter the parking area.

I was thinking that, but I didn't know if they would take the pass when she checks in to get the camping spot or not, or mark it in any way to where we couldn't park.

OOOPPSSS, I was under the impression that you each had a parking pass for tents. If there is only one between the two of you, then you have a problem. They probably will take her pass and you will have to either find another pass or park somewhere secure.

Yes, we EACH have a pass. In total there are THREE of us with THREE camping passes which each include one car for parking. Two of us are giving the 3rd our passes to setup our spots next to each other, and put up our tents, etc. The other two of us won't be arriving until Friday morning. Where we will need our tickets to park. But will they be taking the tickets when our 3rd friend gets the spots, or will she still have them in her possession to be able to walk out and hand to us to come in and park?
so where is countrygurl with the answer?

The problem isn't parking your car. You're free to drive in and out of this lot so as long as she can get you the parking pass. The problem is, if your friend is the only one going to be there, I don't think 1 person can claim 2 tent spots. Just my thought.

I will be there with another person who can set up one extra spot. My concern is the third spot even though I'll have the camping pass.

Yep, I think you are going to run into a problem there. Clearly you would have a problem if this was for RV spots. Maybe with camping, as long as you have the tent to pop up you will be fine. Well I guess CG will be back later today with the answer.

I'm just more worried about how I'll park later if I've given her my camping pass! Like if they take the pass away when she sets up the spots, then I'm pretty screwed.

I'm thinking if they take the pass, they should give me something to put on the windshield or something like that. THEN I can give that to you when you get there.

Being that cars are allowed in and out all weekend, except for after hours, I'm sure they will give her something to hang in the window or a sticker of some sort.

The question is will they give her THREE if there is only one car? I just want to be clear so I can figure out if we're all camping together or what.
there just may be that problem when she is checking... but you are entitled to that parking space... so maybe if she throws the guy a pretty smile he will give it to her!

They do take your pass when you check in to exchange for your wristband... good luck with that. Seems the parking situation this year is screwed up no matter which lot your camping in!

I know they do that, and I know they will be ok just HANDING a wristband instead of putting one on a person, so she can still get that for me, it's the parking that I'm STILL questioning. CountryGurl, can you please respond?

Karena...are there any updates on the camping or FAQ section that may help you? I glanced over it a few times, and saw there are updates, and how the companion passes work, parking info and a few updates for the RV'ers. Maybe one the updates will have an answer for you?
( Countrygurl may be wrapping things up or recovering from Coachella?)

I just read every single FAQ there is. The only thing I can find is no saving spots, groups must arrive together. BUT if there are 3 people to hold 3 camping tickets, all coming in ONE car, can we utilize the other 2 car spots, I think that's the best way to word our question. IDK Rach, I might be in a different spot from you guys if I can't find an answer!

My understanding is if you want to camp together, you must arrive together, they are not going to keep a road open to wait for late arrivals. This is the way its been stated for years. Hope you get a spot near by.
Countrygurl
04-20-2011, 07:44 AM
ok yes, campnut is right. and it says on the website to camp together arrive together.
when you tent camp you get one parking spot upon arrival showing your camping ticket. you give someone else your ticket, you are giving up your parking spot. if you are getting dropped off on site or carpooling with someone then it could work.

Countrygurl, if I have three people (arrive in one car) with three camping passes, can we get three parking spots?

I THINK I'm understanding. I guess my question is if there were 3 people in ONE car with 3 camping passes, and setup tents on all 3 camping spots, would the other 2 camping passes still be valid for parking 2 more cars, say if they walked the passes out as the other 2 cars pulled in? Like are they marking tickets, or taking them, or ?? I may just have to alter days with my kiddo's dad, I just wanted to spend some time with my son on Thursday night and come on Friday :)

no you have to arrive in a car and show your camping ticket to park in the camping parking lot.

Ok, last question, then I'm out of your hair! Are the parking spaces transferrable? If I use the parking space can I drive out and park in the companion lot (with a companion pass of course) and replace my car with another in the tent camping lot?
Countrygurl

the car that goes into the tent camping lot with a tent camping ticket is the car using it. There is no switching.
