So heres the deal...

Last year, I scooped up my 8 year old daughter and we headed out to Stagecoach on a whim, coming off a hellacious divorce, knowing no one personally, but I had a few names from these boards of people whom I had emailed back and forth with to get info from, and who told me to look them up when I got there. I decided "What the Hell" and set off without a game plan, a place to stay or anything. I got a good deal on a ticket off Craigslist and away we went.

Needless to say, Stagecoach was incredible. The only thing better was the people that we met and hung out with from these boards, and the hospitality shown my daughter (thank you all for the blankets when she was cold and the chair to sleep on when she was tired). I am still friends with some of them today, having met up at Cowboy Country and Wagon Wheel. Ya'll made a huge impression!!!!!

So, this year, I am looking to repeat that good time on a shoestring budget (more divorce drama forces this), only this time, with my girlfriend, Holly.

Ideally, we would love find some 40 somethings like us who wouldn't mind a couple stowaways in a corner of their RV spot in exchange for some Cash, Cooking, Cigars and Company (all the "C's"). We would love to find folks in our age group with similar interests that could become long term friend material. (We like Harley's, Hotrods, Boats, Outdoor activities like Stagecoach, Long walks on the beach..lolololol, you get the picture). We could fit in well with 30 somethings but the 20 somethings may be pushing it a little bit for us...lol... We would be jealous because we couldn't keep up!

If we could find the right deal (think cheap!), I will go out and buy a tent today and of course, tickets. Although I don't usually like to operate this way, I can't even begin to tell you what a great time my daughter and I had last year by just winging it. Not to mention the friends we made that I still stay in contact with (you know who you are!). Hopefully, lightning will strike twice and my girlfriend and I will come away from this with just as many great memories as my daughter and I had last year.... (Every time a Keith Urban song comes on the radio, my daughter still says "Daddy we saw him!" It makes me feel great that she and I shared that...)

Keith I was not able to park with the message board peeps last year because like you we did everything at the last minute. It was our first year last year and we had a blast! so we are back this year with evegence! We have a camping spot in EDII and we are your 30-40 something crowd. I am not sure if you are bringing your daughter again but we are all leaving our kids at home! so if you and your girlfriend wanted to pitch a tent on our spot you are welcome to and I also have a couple extra tickets if you needed them. Gosh Keith.. We all remember you joining our SCMB group. We enjoyed having you and your daughter with us. You and I are FB friends, so I stalk you now and then. Kind of keeping up with you and Holly. ( I'm not creepy though, hahaha) In fact you and I have a few commonalities that we didn't know about last year. maybe this year we can share our stories.
I think the SCMB group will repeat the plans of last year. We have the matching shirts- we will do a group pic again, most likely many of us will hang together during the festival, but we're all spread out as far as lodging. If there is a group to offer assistance it is this group. And now is a good time to jump on and watch for the deals being posted.

My WONDERFUL friends normally help me out in that department, but IDK about this year!! If the setup is the same, I wouldn't mind being in the same spot as last year, it was convenient, easy to find, not crowded, and view was good!

We were so much better off than the other half of our group on the first day, we had room to dance around, it was convenient to get to food and BEER, the rest of the group was smushed against fence.

I just prefer to party in the camp area until 2 or 3 (or when an artist comes on I want to see), so I'm just kinda gonna play that part by ear, we'll plan it out when we get there. YES we will have the bright colored PINK and PURPLE "identifying tape" around the perimeter of our area so we can find our spot in the dark of night, or the drunk of night whatever the case may be. heck ya!! I think it almost glows too. But we already have it packed !
I like where we were the second day.. big area, room to spread out, easy access to every where we want to go.
I know our land mark was that skoal booth, but who knows this year. However, there were a bunch of us able to park at the handicap entrance, which gave us a great opportunity to claim a good peice of grass . We did have a big group, and we were easy to find too.
If many of us remember the area we were in, we can target that spot this year too.

Ooh, so glad you have the tape, I was gonna borrow some from work! Sweet! We'll coordinate before we go in, but yes I remember exactly where it was, PERFECT spot!! Let's do that! Hey, hey, hey..... I leave this site for a couple days and I am invited (then uninvited) to to a Facebook page, "officially" added to a group and offered a ticket... Wow, I feel very loved!!! Anyways, to update everyone, I literally just bought two GA tickets from a very nice woman who has 4 for $100 each. Unfortunately, she and her family can no longer go. I am taking two of her tickets, she has two more. I am meeting her in Hollywood tomorrow to pick them up and pay her. Holly has bought all new camping gear for us and we are excited as hell! If anyone would like to PM me their cell phones so we can keep in touch on our drive up and to meet up, that would be great, I'm not sure if there is a list going around this year like last year.

And lastly... It is going to be around 100 degrees Sat and Sun... please make sure everyone plans and packs accordingly with regards to hydration (non-alcoholic kind) clothing and camping, etc....

The last thing on my list is figuring out parking...
