So for stagecoach 2011 me and my friend are driving down there and are a little confused on how we are going to stay. We'll probably be pitching a tent but want to be where all the RVs and partying is. Is there a way we cans till do that? Or possibly pitch a tent on our friends RV spot? What if we decide to get a hotel and day park but they say there are no ins/outs from the lot? Am I screwed if I left something in my car? help is appreciated!!!

Last year my brother and his GF threw down a tent on my spot and paid for a day parking spot ($15 or so). They were allowed in and out privlages during the day to get stuff out of the car, but it was quite a walk back to the RV spot. If you have a friend in an RV and can throw a tent down I recommend it. The RV atmosphere is incredible... Hope that helps!

There are no ins/outs to day parking. If you are camping overnight and plan to park a car overnight, you need a companion parking pass that the person buying the camping spot has to buy, they are not sold separately. yes you can put a tent along side an RV in someones RV spot if it fits and they let you.

Is the companion pass new? Last year we rented 3 (total of 4 for our group) RV's and had 6-7 people per RV plus some tent campers outside. Needless to say we had a few cars in the overnight lot. I bought a tow pass and went in and out all day to the overnight lot and picked people and their stuff up. How will that differ this year?

This is the thing I like the least about SC. Why is it always so freaking complicated about who can park where, what they can do with their car, who can walk in/out of what, etc.
After all these years it still confusing to everyone.

I think people that plan on attending should quickly read over the onsite camping page to become more familiar with things for 2011 then post questions.

Yeah, Chev it has changed. Go back to Stagecoachfestival.com, click on the Visitor info and then click on the on sight camping page for changes to 2011.

Well, I just say go with the flow....there's not much we can really do about it anyway. We need to adjust and adapt to what the rules are.
No yelling at me please.

I was just asking a clarification question. I thought I posed it very politely, just wondering how it differs from last year. I will look before I go out this year, I just didn't have time to read through all of the rules and changes.

NEW FOR 2011
$15 (+ applicable charges) – RV/Tent Companion Vehicle Parking Pass. This pass is for anyone who is arriving separately than the RV/Tent they are sleeping in and will allow for a safe secure overnight parking spot. This lot will be 100% locked down with no chance of entering or exiting between 9pm - 1am Saturday and Sunday nights. With your RV/Tent Companion Vehicle Parking Pass you will be free to drive in and out of this lot at all other times. If you do not return before the lock down times you will be directed to general day parking and will have to move your car after 1am. Remember, no vehicles are allowed in/out of the RV campgrounds. NO EXCEPTIONS. You can only purchase these passes along with your onsite camping package.
This is on the camping page.
PLEASE BE ADVISED: We no longer allow any vehicles other than the RV you are sleeping in to be brought into the campground. This includes any vehicle not towing a trailer/5th wheel. If you leave, there are no RV ins/outs regardless if you have a campsite or not. If you're towing a trailer/5th wheel and decide to unhook and drive that vehicle outside of camping, it will not be allowed back into camping. It must be parked in the companion vehicle lot (if space is still available). This is for the safety of all campers.
I hope this helps.

Thank you Rose. Well hopefully the WILL allow us back into the overnight lots during the day, this year I had to fight with security there just to drop people and their stuff off because they wanted to leave! I don't necessarily agree with the no Tow pass in and outs though the safety part DOES make sense. It's just such a hike to get to and from the parking lot to the RV's. I really hope that they get wise to this soon and offer a shuttle of some sort. My mom is 63 with breathing problems and for her to haul evrything back and forth (and the people who can't get there earlier to load stuff into the RV first) it makes it really tough.

Looks like they have to be bought at the same time. I wish they would do that part separate. Not just for unforseeables but like in our situation this year, we had a bunch of people RVing with us and didn't know til close to the date who was riding with who, if anybody was carpooling, etc...

If you hotel it and day park (free) then there is no in's/outs. Plus the lots are so far away you don't want to walk it back for something you forgot.

plan ahead...find out who's in and who needs a parking pass. you're a good organizer. All you can do is make arrangements with those that are on board with you. If you think you need a few companion passes along with your RV pass, then buy them. You'll feel better knowing you have them. yes you may have to pay up front, but you won't be scrambling later. If things change down the road, all you can do is adjust your plans accordingly. Don't stress, things always work out.
Seems like its a bit early to rile up the troops with "what ifs" and possible trouble.

Exactly. That was my point. What is wrong with these people that they need as many different sets of rules as there have been Stagecoach Festivals?

You must have some super awesome friends. Most people I know are non-commital. Especially in November for something that happens in April.
This rule about HAVING to buy companion parking at the same time as your pass is the most stupid thing I ever heard of. What could possibly be the logic for that? It accomplishes nothing other than overcomplicating people's planning.
I'm not a big fan of buying tickets & passes "just in case." IME that's a good way to eat your money.
I'm sure Stagecoach is not going to be turning down any type of money making opportunities and turn people away from purchasing companion parking tickets when they arrive separately and didn't plan/know ahead of time.

if you know in advance that you'll need companion passes, why is that so odd to buy them in advance? the cost is $15! much better to purchase now than to scramble to find one later if they are sold out.

I think he means how many will we need. Last year we had 28 of us plus Lisa and Kat's RV. We didn't know who was riding with who until closer to the date. We also didn't know how many people we would have until after we bought tix (we added a few more RVer's and tent campers). We would have had to buy a good 15 passes at the time to just be sure to have enough. At $15 a pop that's a lot to shell out! It would just be easier if we could buy them separately, even if we had to do it at some point ahead of time. Separate when we know is easier than at the time of RV spot purchase and not knowing!
Ducking now BIG TIME...I'm sure it's because of people like me who last year parked in that lot even though I wasn't camping with anyone and hoteling it. PLEASE DON'T SHOOT ME. It made it easier for me to pick up the group for Friday's pre-party and then an ice run later on etc.... I would pay $15.00 for closer parking BUT won't if it's a lock down situation.

The problem isn't the $15 or the lockdown. I'm fine with both.
The problem is that you have to buy them at the time you buy your RV spot and it's really hard to know how many you're going to need six months ahead of time. That's what sucks about this whole thing.

Precisely. I'll pay the $15, don't are about the lockdown, just want to pay THERE! But I think it's because the people they hire to run the lots probably aren't allowed to take $ there. They should hire a lot cashier.

I don't even care if the passes aren't sold on site.
Make the cut-off a week before the show for all I care. Just make it so that we have the option to buy additional passes if they are needed. A lot of people are going to buy their RV site on Friday and many haven't a clue how many companion passes they will need six months in advance.

NO, companion parking passes are only offered when you purchase camping. This information is posted on the onsite camping page.
You can only purchase these passes along with your onsite camping package.

It would just be easier if we could buy them separately
And then it would be easier for people to "accidentally" or on purpose just buy those passes and nothing else. complaining that they thought it was a camping pass.. Leaving people who really need them without and/or scalping them to people and telling them it was a camping pass, or coming to the festival trying to sleep in their cars overnight for just $15 (not allowed) or coming to the festival to not attend the festival but mess around in camping. (not wanted)
There is not a "solo" solution that will work for absolutely everyone. We picked one that would work for the majority. That one is to buy companion parking at same time you're buying camping.. if your companions need overnight parking.
The majority scenario is those camping with you ride in the RV or car with you going there. That is what the actual majority of festival goers do.
We are aware not being in the majority is not always easy or fun. We all wish it could be for everyone though.

from onsite camping page:
NEW FOR 2011 $15 (+ applicable charges) - TENT Companion Vehicle Parking Pass. This pass is for anyone who is arriving in a separate vehicle other than the tent camping ticket holder they are camping with. Each tent camping spot ticket comes with one free tent parking spot. The Tent Companion Vehicle parking pass is the pass for your friends car that is planning to camp in your tent spot but didn't arrive with the original tent ticket holder. This is the pass for your better half who is arriving later after you have already set up your tent spot. This lot will be 100% locked down with no chance of entering or exiting between 9pm - 1am Saturday and Sunday nights. With your TENT Companion Vehicle Parking Pass you will be free to drive in and out of this lot at all other times. My thought was to restrict purchase to those who have an RV site, not to allow anyone to buy one.
I don't know if I agree that the majority of RV parties show up at the same time. In all the years I've been going to SC, whether I camp or stay in a hotel I've never had a case where my entire group was able to leave at the same time. We live in different places and have different schedules.
Even when we go to an ordinary concert on a weekend it's hard to get everyone there at the same time...

if people weren't always trying to find ways around the rules then they wouldn't have to be changed. but people do and they learn from the issues and make the changes the following year. if people followed the rules this probably wouldn't be an issue.
