My daughter was given tickets to the concert this Saturday. She and I will probably go but I need some info first. Those of you that live in San Diego, or who just went to the Cricket Amphitheater, can you give me names of a few motels in the area? Doubt that we'll want to drive home after.

Are any of the San Diego people going?

I imagine after seeing Rascal Flats nothing would seem unpleasant by comparison for quite some time so you might as well save the money.

Wow... thank you Willie for your insightful suggestions. Since you are obviously the resident expert on slums and back alleys, maybe you can offer more info..which alley you're most familiar with? do you know the nightly rate and if they offer late check in? most importantly, I was wondering if there was any place close to the Amphitheater.. any ideas which alley is close? After all, these tickets weren't paid for, we can pop for a really nice alley! I was just looking to have fun with my daughter for the weekend, so I'm sure any alley in Tijuana would be a great weekend outing for 2 girls. Maybe you can share the names of the alley you send your ladies to.

I wouldn't stay in Chula Vista where the ampitheatre is but that's just me. When we went down for Toby we stayed in Downtown SD. I hope someone has a good idea of where to stay for you!

Hey love! If you're gonna stay in downtown, I highly suggest using Priceline (or for ANY area in San Diego, it let's you pick your areas). Type in $76 for a 4 star. It will reject that. Try again (you might have to wait 24 hour) and type in $79 for a 3 1/2 star. You should almost definitely get something then, and it will most likely be 4 star (always is for me). I've stayed at 2 AMAZING hotels in downtown that way. Hope you ladies have a GREAT mother/daughter trip!!

hey there FF, just stay downtown. Check the Brad Paisely H20 thread if you need directions to the venue. Two sets are on there. The Standard edition, and MY Insider directions (for when you are late or just don't want to sit in traffic).

Tijuana offers many alleys that represent a vast array of cultural heritage of the area. For example; did you know that there is a section of Tijuana that has been heavily influenced by African culture? It's true. They have zebras running around and everything.

It may also be prudent to keep in mind that while there is a certain lawlessness in Tijuana, at least social services won't investigate you for bringing your daughters to a Rascal Flats concert like they will in The States. So you kind of have to take the good with the bad.

It has become apparent by the sarcastic tone of your response that your discerning tastes in Hotels is betrayed by your musical leanings.

In all seriousness; I think you can get better deals on nice, safe rooms in Temecula but that's about an hour away and you'd be nearly halfway home by then.

I've stayed at the Hyatt downtown (and they upgraded our room for free, it was INSANE!) and also at the Andaz downtown, both 4 stars, both through Priceline for $79 a night. Parking for each is $30, but you can find other parking close by for $15. They were both beautiful. The Andaz even gives you wine when you walk in andhalf the mini-bar is free (soda's, juices, candy, chips, water).

Hate Rascal Flatts or love Rascal Flatts, I could care less. Many artists are loved and hated sometimes in the same breath on this board. Go start a thread. It's when a member asks for help or advice it's nice that you FINALLY gave it. That's what we do here for each other. We support, we listen, we HELP. If we can't then we refer to somebody who can or we shut the f up. If somebody told you to stay in an alley in TJ then I would step up and say that's not right to do. I'm sure many lurkers are afraid to post for fear of getting "flamed" on here and that's just not kewl.

I will abide by the group's decision as to if it is appropriate to jump in with non-sequitors or not. The irony of this whole thing is that the heart of the humor in the joke I was making was self-deprecating.

The joke is that I'm portraying somebody stupid enough to call somebody a racist for fearing going into a legitimately scary place like Tijuana that is made so, not because of the race of the people there, but because of a totally different circumstance.

In other words, what's supposed to be funny is that I'm the jerkoff playing the race-card.

It's like saying someone is sexist because he wouldn't have sex with Chaz Bono.

Or accusing somebody of being an elitist because they only drink brand name beer like Pabst Blue Ribbon.

I don't know what kind of a monster you think I am, but I'm sure we would get along fine in person.
