View Full Version : Nix the repeats!

SC Board Family. I want to know if you agree with me on this. I have been attending Stagecoach since the Inaugural Season, and I must say I am tired of any and all repeats. At least so close together. Kenny Chesney, Miranda Lambert, Sugarland, etc. all within 3 years time span?? That's not enough time to miss them. There are MANY different and talented acts out there that can be chosen from! (Brooks and Dunn is the only exception being they are going to be gone after this year) Looking at Coachella's line up and looking at our line up, it's embarrassing. If SC isnt going to have 3 days at least give me two days of solid good music. If the price needs to be bumped up, then bump it! I would rather pay for a bad ass weekend then a measly two days of 4 acts. I said it before and I stand by the same thing now, 2008's year was the best year to date. SC should stop being a penny pincher and spend some money, I know they have it. I save up all year for this 'weekend' and the line up length and acts are getting sad.
Thanks for reading. I'm out!

I personally didn't start going to Stagecoach until 2009 so I'm probably the wrong person to answer this. I personally think the line-up has been AMAZING the past 2 years. I have gotten to see so many of my favorite artists that I have never seen before. I think a lot depends on who's on tour at the time and where they are in their tour as far as booking new acts. I think with Stagecoach and my SCMB friends, the few people I haven't gotten to see in the past year and a half are George Strait and Clint Black and a handful of older artists that I love.

So with that, I guess I will respectfully agree to disagree. Certain acts from 2009 I would totally LOVE to see again in 2011. Actually almost ANY of the acts I saw in 2009 I would be great with seeing again within a 2 year period. JMHO though :)

I've gone all 4 years and I have to agree with you, GSF. There were a TON more acts the first two years. The repeats are getting old and the number of "headliner" type people are dwindling.

Thank you for both of your opinions. I understand its sometimes about popularity and who is up and coming. The variety could be way more though. And hopefully SC knows to bring George back well before Tim or Kenny again.

Doing a Saturday comparison
07 - 26 bands/artists
08 - 22
09 - 17
10 - 14

I remember hearing that they were purposely having less artists the past two years because they wanted each artist to have a longer set time. I understand that perspective, but there are some artists that don't need longer set times. If their longer set time means they're going to play another five covers, then give that time to someone else. I definitely agree that '08 was the best year despite the whole Cowboy Troy and Big & Rich eight hour show.

I also highly agree, 08 kicked arse!! These past two years have been very poor on the artists choices. Even less stages along with less bands. Taking away a stage, and giving longer sets just makes it worse.

I do hope they get back to the original way they did it and have tons of bands to choose from. The last two years, I just sat at the main stage, maybe left for a couple acts, but in 08 I was going crazy running around to see different acts, it was a blast.

UNCLEFEINY: I agree, Cowboy Troy sucked eggs!! lol

GSF: YOU HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD WITH YOUR POST!

ROSE: Proves the point!

coachella has a much broader spectrum of musical genre's to draw from, stagecoach not so much, so repeats will always be more common.

Thank you everybody for feeling the same way. And Rose I am glad you posted the list of some who havent been to SC. There are so many good artists to choose from, its ridiculous that there are repeats. I am coming from San Diego, and that is a drive as it is. Just think about the people who come from further places. They are coming for a great weekend. Toby, Brad, Tim, Kenny, Keith etc. have big tours each year. We always see them. I want my drive to be worth it, to see some of the greats that dont come out that often Such as I did in 07 for Emmylou and Willie and 08 for the Judds.

Great insite everyone. I think my opinion comes from ONLY attending SC in 09 and 10. I never got to experience the "before" so I have nothing to compare it to and therefore like it as is!

i agree w Chev - I have only gone to 09 and 10 and dont have the other ones to compare it to. Not sure I would like running from stage to stage - but I would love to see some of the old school country acts. Like Dolly Pardon, George Straight, Pam Tills, Kenny Rodgers and Garth!!!

Rose... I just want to throw out there that the Lost Trailers are breaking up this year. Another to add to that list though is Eric Church. I don't believe he has ever been and he is a great performer!

everyone seems to have helpful input. lets hope that some/all of the artists we want to see are available and willing to play during the dates. Those are the two biggest factors in all this hoopla.

available, no plans, no babies being born, no personal stuff, in town, have a great show to deliver to the fans, not have already played recently in the area to the point that it bothers someone, etc.

bring em on!

CountryGurl is now freaking me out. Why I gave up and go to concerts/events ALONE. My girlfriends that....

are available
have no plans
have no babies being born, have sick parents to take care of
have no kids going to soccer practice or t-ball games
husband in town and is not working so he can watch the kids and/or parents

Hopefully I will see the same peeps at SC11??? including myself???

Most of the artists from both SC09 and SC10 were indeed great, and I would love to see them again soon, but can we agree Kid Rock should stick to other concerts and shows? Don't get me wrong, his performance was great, and we had a great time rockin' out with him, but he turned the crowd into abuncha hoods! I wouldnt hesitate to go see Kid Rock again, but I really hope it wont be at SC11, IMHO :)

As for other repeats, I agree that it would be nice to get some new artists to come down! Garth, John Michal Montgomery, lets do this!
