I’ve always loved Trace Adkins, especially after his “Honky Tonk Badonkadonk” single. He has a new video out, and the song is so great! It’s called “This ain’t no love song”, also the girl in the video is really pretty. Watch the vid here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LzegER-NapM and the behind the scenes is pretty cool too! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_fcNV9XcnU. Do you like the vid? I think it’s one of his best.

Oh god... That is one of the only songs I can't stand in country music... lol. Hard to think Jamey Johnson had a hand in writing that one... lol... Terrible...

I haven't heard this Seven Spanish Angels - and after WWFs comment I'm not sure that I ever do!! lol

I heard the song this morning...liked it!

I think Honkeytonk Badonkadonk is more like the country version of "Baby Got Back" :)

There are songs you write as an artist and songs you pimp out to the masses. I'm certainly guilty of writing some shitty pop songs for other people.

It's not that different than being the CEO of a tobacco company that doesn't smoke. I may make a product that kills your soul, but I don't force you to listen.

Do yourself a favor and check out it out. The duet version by Willie Nelson and Ray Charles is stellar. Musical, performance, and lyrical perfection.

Record exec: "Trace is getting a bit long in the tooth so we need something that makes him appeal to younger audiences and look hip. Let's take a phrase from hip-hop that white people will feel cool when saying and adjust it a bit so they don't feel like they are trying to be black by saying it. It would be handy if it was just a bit controversial as well so it can spark some debate, but tame enough that the debate doesn't last long".

Not that I disagree with you, it is a conceptual take of Baby's Got Back. That is the genius of it in terms of craftsmanship and the lament of it in terms of artistry.

I actually have always liked that song, probably for every reason you just stated Addam!

If you look at every big pop hit (country and otherwise) you can usually break down how it was contrived by the industry. And I'm not saying there's something wrong with it any more than there's something wrong with opening a McDonald's. It's providing a service and cultivating it's purchaser's tastes for future product. Hell, I like a Big Mac now and again. But I surely prefer a good steak.

I don't hate the players, but I'm not too fond of the game.

I like to think of it as a the best restaurant in town deciding to start serving a crappy dish and force feeding it to everyone out there... Over and over again...

And re-naming the same dish over and over again.

A hunk of Burned Carp

Monday: "Blackened Filet"
Tuesday: "Heavily Braised Freshwater Delight"
Wednesday: "Riverbottom Sole"
Thursday: "Ceviche del Carbon"
Friday: "Chef's Fisherman's Plate"
Saturday: "Largemouth American Koi"
Sunday: "Laughlin Trout"

Next Monday: Start all over again and call them "Cover dishes"

Either way, it's all over-done bottom feeder material.

I think it's a really entertaining song. I wasn't fond of Honky Tonk at first but then it was one of those songs that got stuck in my head. I think it's fun!

Hahaha - I didn't read that correctly then - whoops! I thought it was the Seven Spanish Angels you weren't fond of?

But what do I know - I love Honkeytonk Badonkadonk - hahahaha. :)
