I'm driving the RV from Escondido, leaving around 1...not sure if you're looking to hitch a ride, or caravan...I-8 is the longest route for me, but I'm open to going through Anza--I like that drive, or the 215...my RV is small so I can go thru Anza at 60mph...haha...not sure when the gals want me in Indio, so not sure how late I can wait...I'm coming home Mon, so if you're looking to hitch a ride--you're hoteling right?...as long as it's Indio or around there, I'm happy to work it out...I used to drive professionally, have over 1 million miles safe driving, so you're safe.

Updating....looks like we'll be leaving Lemon Grove at about 2:30 p.m. on Friday.

Hoteling it in Palm Springs (Travelodge Palm Springs, 333 E Palm Canyon Dr., Palm Springs, California 92264).

Because of school concerns for my boy (State STAR testing starts on Tuesday, 4/28...school on Monday is almost mandatory!) we will be leaving Palm Springs EARLY Monday morning (like the ungodly hour of 5:30 a.m.)....

Give yourself enough time to drive back before school starts! You'll be at the mercy of monday morning traffic. 5:30 might not be early enough.

now this is the question! i can tell you that the memories i have of my mom and i takin off from work/school to do something wild & crazy & just have a blast are the best memories of my childhood. :):):) regardless you guys will make some awesome memories!

1. How to fill out a check and balance a checkbook?
2. Fill out a simple tax form?

Sometimes showing and teaching your children about "real life" is more of a lesson than they will ever get in school.

All the school cares about is test scores and prepping the kids to be little robots at test time.

My boy is smart. He will do fine. I always try to be the good little girl and never break the rules, but this once (oh, and the one time I pulled him out of school to go to Disneyland) won't hurt ;)

p.s. I'm an accountant and basically balance checking accounts for a living - I laughed when I read your #1....

actually i remember in high school now they make you take "life skills" and in that class they teach you how to fill out a check and balance a checkbook, how to live on a budget, how to rent an apartment, apply for a job, etc.

From Lemon Grove about 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Plus traffic on the 15N on a Friday afternoon. Scary.

Even without traffic on the 15 it's a haul from SD. I bail out of the 15 in Temecula and go over the mountain into Rancho Mirage from Anza though. I don't know how much different the time would be it is on the freeways.

Indio is east of KFrog, coming from your area, you'll be going somewhat backwards...not a real fun commute on a Friday. I'd see if they'd let you pick them up in Indio, they'll be there on Friday....
