I've never been to a Jimmy Buffett concert and have always wanted to.

http://www.livenation.com/event/getEvent/eventId/421900?c=dm-3731833&p=34456086

He's playing 10/21 at Verizon. Anyone interested in going?

Tickets go on sale on Monday. Does anyone have info about presale??

I usually go all the time. I don't know that I can get a day off this year so I'm gonna be going to the Vegas show on Saturday, 10/23.

I know Kuzn Edy and FF usually go to the Irvine show!

Big difference between misspelling a word (a typo) and using the wrong word altogether.

I don't knock people for typos but for stupidity.

I used to go to the Jimmy Buffet concert with my friends every October. We didn't buy a ticket once.

We'd all just load up our cars with a punch I made up called Jimmy Juice and hawaiian shirts and hang out for the tailgate party, then listen to the concert from the lot while sobering up enough to drive home.

Recipe for Jimmy Juice:
1 Gallon of Gin
5th Myer's Rum
1 Bottle TripleSec
1 Small Bottle Grenadine Syrup
1 Gallon Orange/Pineapple/Banana Juice
1/2 gallon Cranberry Juice
Small bottle of Lemon Juice
2 liter Bottle of Squirt
2 liter Bottle of 7-up
1 Large bottle Sweet n Sour Mix
Sliced Oranges, limes, bananas, strawberries
20 Pound bag of ice.

Throw all in cooler, stir, drink.

didn't verizon start requiring tickets to be able to enter the parking lot a few years ago? thought i read something about that.

i remember in high school all us kids getting one of those travel coaches and heading to the show with a few dozen heads. good times.

I was at Verizon in the last 6 months and they don't check tickets before the parking lot. They still only take them upon entrance

It DOES sound good, even WITH the gin! LOL, I printed out the recipe!

And if they don't let you tailgate, just stop by my house. We'll make some Jimmy juice and have our own pre-party!

My friends all tailgated last year before Jimmy in the Irvine parking lot. They used to open the gates a lot earlier but not anymore. You're safe to tailgate! But stopping by Chev's could be fun too!!

His tickets have been pricey in the past, but I have always wanted to join the parrot heads at one of his concerts.

Yeah, we are going! This is the stuff I live for. Its really not the best show inside the gates (sorry Jimmy), but the parking lot takes on a whole new level of tailgating. Someone a few years ago told me the same thing and I hesitated to go, but once inside the parking lot the clouds parted and angels sang. The parking lot is a blast and your jaw will be on the ground a few times for sure. You will however get sick of hawaiian shirts and tiki bars, but very often something crazy happens and it will stick with you forever. Hey, If Cooter tips his hat to the parking lot scene... nuff said. We will bring the WT and the RV. Just gotta find a sober driver home... Anybody getting knocked up in the next 6 months???

Are you able to go early or do you have to put a full 9-5 in before you go?

Does anyone have presale info?

Those were my thoughts EXACTLY as I was reading Kuzn Edy's post just now. Let's do it! We can try to win tickets, but I don't really care about buying them or the actual concert (sorry Buffett fans!). But the party sounds awesome and it's CLOSE!

I haven't received any pre-sale codes and I usually get them for most shows. When you go to the Ticketmaster page they don't even list a pre-sale option like they do for other concerts so I'm guessing there isn't one.

OK. This goes on sale Monday.

In a couple of hours I will lose Internet access until late Sunday night. Can you guys please coordinate on the number of tickets we need and figure out who's going to get them? I can PayPal someone my share Sunday night.

I'm in as long as there's at least one person from SCMB who wants to head down early and tailgate. I like Buffett but I want to experience the tailgate aspect even more than the concert and it won't be any fun to be flying solo. Sounds like at least Nicole is in so I have at least one victim. LOL

Seats then, it's fine with me . Whatever everyone else wants. I can probably get some good seats from my daughters manager. If anyone wants up front let me know. I may be able to get some good seats. Or grass. I grew up in HB. So I went to concerts at Irvine when it was first built. When I was in my 20's I always had lawn seats. Anyway, I might be able to get some close seats. Like first 5 rows. No promises. I would have to put in a request. But it's a maybe.

We got lawn tickets... $30 each plus all the ticketmaster BS ends up about $42 each. Yeah its a hike up the hill, and yeah the grass is beersoked and wet, and yeah your not gunna see the whites of his eyes, but after a few beers, some unforgetable parking lot entertainment, a belly full of BBQ, and a great contact high who cares!

A lot of our friends say they are going but I aint buying nobody tickets but my wife and I. People commit and flake waaaaaay to much. We will set up in the Parking lot with the rest of the early birds whenever they announce when they open the parking to RV's. Still got 6 months to figure out details and mount a giant fin to the top of the W.T.

If you wanna get pumped up check out all the Youtube videos from his show last year at Verizon. Pretty fun stuff! Good Luck everyone, hope to see you all there!

What the hell kind of crack are they smoking? And what are the people who pay this much smoking?

They (Disney) compared it to the price of going to a concert. Still way too high for me!

That is NOT a problem, I can be there extra early and just wait, no worries. It would be for October 22nd or actually I could really pick any day, just wanna do it in October for his birthday. That would be so sweet Rach!

I texted him last night and am still waiting for a reply. I'll keep you posted my dear.

I kind of feel the same way. Way too much to spend. We had season passes for years, but after awhile the black out dates increased, the cost increased and it just got to be such an expense. I really do enjoy Disneyland , too. but geez what does it cost for a family to go for a day? yikes.

btw.. how did we get off track AGAIN?? so us...

Maybe, but who takes the whole family to a concert? My family didn't! It was one or the other kid, based on who liked the artist - if the "kids" got to go at all!

True that, I didn't think about that! Imagine, a family of 4 is about $400 just for ENTRY into the park. Now you have food and souvenirs and hours of waiting in lines. I don't do amusement parks often for that very reason. I'd rather take my kiddo to the water park, where it's $20-$30 for entry and I can bring a picnic lunch in my car.

Speaking of fu*ked:

"According to OK Cupid's survey of 552,000 user pictures iPhone users have more sexual partners (http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2010/08/gadget-sex/) than BlackBerry or Android owners. By age 30, the average male iPhone user has had about 10 partners while female iPhone users have had 12. By contrast, BlackBerry users hover around 8 partners and Android users have a mere 6. As the blog's author's wryly observe: 'Finally, statistical proof that iPhone users aren't just getting f*@ked by Apple.'"

They forgot to say that us old Motorola brick owners fared better than that.

Yes I know this is way off track.

Does anybody know where to get the best info regarding parking and tailgaiting for this event? All the websites i check out are pretty basic information and I know they change the rules for Jimmy Buffet shows. Anybody have past (and recent) experience?

Questions I have are:
When do they open the parking lot?
How much $$ is RV/Trailer parking? (i heard like $80 last year)
How and when do they direct vehicles? (The pictures i see show RVs and busses all together and cars seperate)

I will probably end up calling the box office and get some answers in the next couple weeks. Thought I would throw this out to everone if they have additional info or more questions to ask when I call.

Thanks.

I'm ot a huge help, but when I've been to past shows at Verizon, they do the RV's in one section closer to the entrance and the cars in the general parking area. But I've never been during a Buffet concert, so all bets could be off for that!

Thought I'd Bump this thread again now that we are less than three weeks away from one of the best tailgate parties of the year.

Still trying to get parking info... The box office said they will have more info available in the next week.

I am shooting to be in the parking lot at 4pm, dinner spread at 6pm, then start the walk around at 7pm on our way into the show. Now who is going to drive!!!

Some inspiration....

I just talked with the box office... They said the parking lot opens at 3pm and no trailers allowed in. (no Camper trailers, toyhaulers, no boats, nothing on a hitch) I guess im not bringing the W.T! She said people would bring in their boats in years past and this got shut down.

Im still shooting to be there before 4pm. Im brining the RV, and will set up my Tiki Bar and BBQ. I will have a large shrimp boil (with potato, corn, sausage etc.) that im flippin over at 6pm sharp. You all are welcome to stop by and hang with us and get down on the food. Most of you know what to look for... KUZN EDY license plates on the RV with the open back "moving van" style.

Bring your own drinks and let me know if your gunna bring something else. I will have a large BBQ, stove, and large ice chest if you wanna throw somthin down.

See ya in the lot!

You can see some pics of my rig and the tiki bar in my album from both years and attached below... The tiki bar will have two grass umbrellas. (and hopefully less security).

I can PM my # but dont know how the life insurance investigation will work out that i gave it to an online stranger named psyco!

People are asking what to bring... You might wanna bring a pinnaple. I have a pinnaple corer and they make sweet cups to carry around (especially at this venue) and mix up island drinks in. Im not buying a bunch of these at $3.99 each so bring your own. People are always cool to bring your own booze or at least a bottle to contribute to the bar. I will have the grill hot and ready so bring something to throw on it and i will flip it around for you. Bring your appetite if you want some shrimp boil. Bring comfortable shoes to walk around the lot in and up that LONG ass hill to the "lawn".
