Does anyone know how reserved seating tickets are working this year? Do we need to check in for wrist bands and lanyards like last year?

From the Stagecoach website under BUY TICKETS:
All VIP/RESERVED seat wristbands will be distributed at the festival via multiple Wristband/Ticket Exchange Stations in onsite camping, the Main Lobby area adjacent to the Merchandise Booth and just outside the reserved seating area. ID & tickets for both days of the festival required to pick up your wristband. Void if wristband is removed, No Exceptions. Only children 2 and under may sit on laps in this section. Seats may not be taken to the other stages although you are welcome to wander from stage to stage and all over the festival. Take home your souvenir seat Sunday night AFTER THE CLOSING ACT ONLY. The VIP area is located immediately adjacent Mane Stage and consists of shaded areas, couches, extra restrooms, food & beverage vendors, and a full bar.
Last year the wristbands didn't even arrive until Saturday around 1p.m. I sure hope they fix this. Would be nice if they have a booth in the camping area or near the entrance to pick-up BEFORE entering the festival (doubt it).
Since they moved the Mane Stage I also doubt the VIP area will be immediately adjacent. I hope I'm wrong.

Yep. They said the same thing last year but it wasn't true.

How strict are they with children sitting in laps ... we have a 4 year -- 4 tickets, 4 adults .... Since children were free, I assumed a four year old could sit with us (on laps).

I'm betting security won't be your biggest challenge.. but smooshy seating will be. There's not a ton of room in those rows, and when the night acts get going, no one is actually "sitting" any more. I wouldn't count on putting him/her on your shoulders... The peeps that paid $500 to sit that close won't be so tolerant of kiddos blocking their view. :( So maybe just lap during the day and on your hip at night? ;)

No lanyards on p1 thus year. Just one wrist band for both days. They make you show both tickets. No wrist bands for camping at all.

Honestly, the "seating" is camping style fold up chairs. Made in China. Flimsy at best. I would advise anyone with either a green $500 seat or a black $800 seat to be careful with those chairs. I was part of the set-up crew unpacking those suckers and almost every box had at least one or two that had to be tossed aside into a "dogpile" because they fell apart or were missing screws.
Sitting with a four y/o on your lap is going to become uncomfortable after awhile ... and possibly hazardous. BE CAREFUL peeps.
