View Full Version : Where are our WET Volunteer Schedules?

I am among several volunteers who agreed to work Stagecoach for a free pass to Coachella. According to an email from the Work Exchange Team on April 20th, they would send our first shift time April 20th and again April 21st. Well, it's 8pm on April 21st, and we have yet to receive our schedules.

This is becoming a concern to me and my fellow volunteers, because we need to make travel arrangements that don't conflict with our schedules, but it's hard to do that when we don't have them.

Are there any other WET volunteers who have received their schedules? If so, when?

And if by chance someone on the WET team is reading this post, can you please whip some ass and get our schedules sent out ASAP? It's the professional thing to do.

Thanks.

So the nice people at WET finally responded and confirmed our schedules for the weekend. Unfortunately they didn't confirm exactly what we're doing, so I assume it involves some sort of trash duty ... bleh!!!

No trash duty. There are several duties that I know of. Working the toll booths. Working in the general store. Working in the information booth. Being a walk-around ambassador (walking info booth). Catering (helping out with the food vendors). Working at the entrances scanning tickets and dispensing wristbands. There was also A LOT of lounging around and WAITING for something to happen. The WET staff are so disorganized ... it's absolutely un-freaking-believable. Bring your patience.

getting paid ~$22/hour to stand around and do nothing doesn't sound too bad :)

Unless you're doing it. And it's not $22/hr. Closer to $13/hr. Oh and throw in 2 slices of cold Domino's pizza for a 12 hour shift.

well for those who went to coachella it is, which is what i am basing my numbers off of since i know quite a few who did it that way. ~$310 festival ticket + ~$60 camping ticket/18 hours of work = $20.56 an hour

Hmm. I worked Coachella as well. Here is my breakdown. I worked 26 hours. Face value on the ticket is $269. The camping was thrown in for WET volunteers free of charge. There was no face value on that. $269. divided by 26 hours is little more than $10/hr.

The real point is no one is getting a free ride for volunteeering. You get your ticket and they get every last dime of their money's worth. Festivals are a money making venture ... not a charity.

Hmmm. I finished my obligation for volunteering Stagecoach last night but I received an email today with EVERY volunteer's schedule. Evidently, they got bogged down emailing all the volunteers and did an email blast. Maybe it's possible you got overlooked? If you want to send me the name you would be under on the list I can look and see if you are there. It's usually the first part of your email addy ... before the @. I know they are in need of volunteers today and tomorrow and maybe even through the event.

Has anyone working Stagecoach for Coachella checked in at the Best Western in Indio yet? How was it? Are they giving out wristbands and camping passes at the Best Western or do you have to get that stuff at the venue? Thanks!
