ok so I am getting a bit frustrated with the camping situation. How did it sell out so quickly this year? Anyhow my friends and I are just thinking we will sleep in the back of the SUV we are taking up if we can't get a camping spot. I read through the camping info and I don't see anything that states that you CAN'T sleep in your car. Anyone know if this is against the rules? Any advice?

It clearly sees you are not allowed to sleep in your car if you have a rv camping spot you must have an rv to claim your spot

Oh sorry let me clarify...I was talking about parking in the overnight parking lot not the rv park....is that banned?
But on the RV note...can you buy an RV spot and tent camp on it?

You CAN put a tent in the RV spots IF, AND ONLY IF, there is already an RV in that spot.

No..you can't sleep in your car in the overnight parking lot. There is another thread on this subject with lots of info on it. You may want to do a search for it.

Sorry you are frustrated, but it sells out like this every year.

?? There was always the "tents spots" for sale. They were $50 the first year. Unless I am not remembering correctly. And that sold out pretty quick also.

You can always watch for people with ones for sale. I have seen many of those..and if you ask...someone will probably sell a piece of land on their RV spot to you. Where there is a will...there is a way.:D

I mean..It IS only 2 weeks away...did you really think it wouldnt be sold out by now?

What I did my first year:

Bought tickets last minute, partied in general parking Saturday day, sobered up at night, drove to the Jack in the Box/Home Depot parking lot, and slept in my SUV. Woke up, tailgated again the next day, partied, then drove home Sunday night.

It works for those desperate times!

Haha ya'll are bad. But boy was is it fun! Baby wipes shower and water bottles to brush our teeth. Don't think there's a Wal-Mart over there, otherwise it WOULD have been perfect.

walmart is supposedly saying it's okay for coachella attendee's without a place to stay to park overnight in their parking lot and sleep.

Wal-marts across the nation allow overnight RV'rs as a rule. Good to know for people who travel a lot and don't want to find a campground, or who cant find an open reservation, there is always a Wal-mart around. Nice they are also allowing car sleeping for the festival!! hehehe.

Thank you everyone for the help! I may be pullin a redneck all-nighter at the local Wal-Mart :)
I do have to say something is different with the camping this year. I have seen the RV stuff sell out but last year we did tent camping and bought the spots about a month in advance with no problem.
Thanks again!
