I posted up several times about carpooling with someone to Stagecoach from San Diego and literally no one has reached out to help me. I am just shocked... I am going to Coachella the weekend prior and literally had tons of people reach out to help me.
I'm from Missouri and I'm working at the Stagecoach festival. I'm in college and I'm taking a bus down to California. I am staying in San Diego between festivals. I'd rather avoid paying for another bus ticket to Indio and rather just throw in on gas with someone heading into the area.
I need to be there on friday at a decent time, but I wouldn't mind going earlier. Is anyone going to reach out to offer?
I'll check my posts on here still, but if you want to shoot me an email kylieaynk@yahoo.com

I'm sure I speak for most of us San Diegans - our plans aren't totally firmed up yet and I'm not sure who has room in their cars for an extra person...
This board has some of the most wonderful and caring people you'll find - maybe we're all a little distracted and still trying to make our plans.
Traffic on the forum will pick up noticeably in the next week or so - by the week before the event, you won't be able to keep up!
Have faith - we'll get you there, one way or another ;)

Maybe you should check out the thread....leaving from SD for SC2010. People have already been talking about carpooling. I know nothing about SD (except the zoo and sea world) and I think they are taking about hooking up at Wally World parking lot. I sure hope you don't have one of those security jobs doing nothing but bitchin at folks....can I say kettle meet lid?
P.S. Sorry security people....I've met nothing but nice people at SC.

This was the part that confused me - if the Coachella peeps were all over volunteering to give her a ride, why would she need to buy ANOTHER bus ticket TO Indio???
And, yeah, one of those FIVE posts she made was in the SD to SC thread...so she knew about all the plans that were flying around :)

because stagecoach is another festival so she would need another way to it. she mentioned she was staying in san diego in between the festivals. probably the coachella people giving her a ride are not attending stagecoach

I understand all that :) I just don't understand the "another bus ticket to Indio" line - implying that she has already bought one bus ticket to go to Coachella....and if the Coachella peeps were falling all over themselves to help her out with a ride - why would she need to have bought a bus ticket in the first place?

This was not my first post, and I'm not being a bitch.
I bought a bus ticket to Indio from Missouri and people from the coachella are giving me a ride from the bus terminal and giving me a ride back to San Diego.
I have posted in the SD thread, but no one responded.
I am not saying I'm entitled or that anyone has to give me a ride because that isn't the case. My point in writing this is that I have heard nothing but nice things about the people that attend Stagecoach and have been assured I will enjoy my time off at the festival even though I will be attending alone. In the spirit of the festival, I don't understand why anyone with the capability wouldn't reach out to help. I'm asking for a ride from a place where you already live and I'm going to help pay for gas.

Kylie, A reason I would not reach out, is that I don't know you from Adam. Many people are generous in helping in many ways. It will take a specific type of person to reach out to a stranger for a ride, and not have reservations on who they are. NOT saying you are a stalker, rapist, or even a murderer...etc etc..just saying you NEVER know. I would never put myself in that position, unless I completely knew them, or was re-assured from a friend who this person is. I understand you posted on the SC post, but I feel you didn't even give it time before you were upset that no one offered. Put out another kind, polite post and I am sure there is someone that will offer you assistance from point A to point B. SC fans are awesome fans. Just read all the posts on this site...proves it very very clear. Be patient and understanding of peoples concerns for putting someone next to them in a vehicle for a ride.

I can't commit to giving you a ride as I don't know how much room we are going to have left in my car.
These messages boards will become much busier as the days tick off ~ I'm sure that many more people from San Diego will see your post in the coming days and you'll be able to find a ride....

Kylie, I have to agree with Kymery. I couldn't put a stranger in my car no matter if they seemed ok or not. I don't even live near SD so none of this matters, lol. But there were about 5 people in the SD post if I'm correct, ALL of them KNOW each other (and we are all RVing together) and you don't know their situations (2-3 people + TONS of camping stuff = no room). Like the pp said, in the coming weeks this board will take off like crazy, be patient, somebody may offer you a ride. Have a back-up plan just in case though. it's not that we aren't great, generous people (the people I've met on these boards have become some of my greatest, most giving friends ever) we just may be a little more cautious. Good luck to you.
IheartMillerLite
04-05-2010, 08:46 AM
I agree with Kymery too. It's not that we're not generous...but I wouldn't put a stranger in my car no matter how nice they seem. Even last year when we made plans with virtual strangers to camp near each other, we didn't all ride in each others cars. We met at a public place and caravaned in. Once I spent the whole weekend with them and many other concerts together do I now call them friends. And Chev is right, they are some of the most awesome friends now. But I wouldn't have put Chev in my car before meeting her last year. hahahahaa.
As for the comment that you posted a month ago....not that many people were posting an planning away. More people join and post as it gets closer....

What do you even mean? I came in here and posted and tried to find a ride and this is the first time that I was even acknowledged. I didn't come in here to be berated and picked on. I simply asked if someone had some spare room. I do admit that what I said was pretty blunt, but it was worded incorrectly. I am not being confrontational or nasty to anyone in here, so I'd appreciate the same respect.

I think this part <<I do admit that what I said was pretty blunt, but it was worded incorrectly.>> is the main problem. No, you probably didn't MEAN for it to come across as blunt, or rude, or demanding. But sometimes things just come across online a totally different way than they would if you were saying it in person.
<<so I'd appreciate the same respect.>> Which we all deserve. But, again, this comes across as sounding a little bit demanding and said with attitude. (Again - might not be the way you INTENDED it to sound!) My advice would be apologize for things coming across the wrong way, understand that most of us "normal" people would not be willing to give a ride to a complete stranger, move on, and get a fresh start to your SC message board experience! :)
It might not feel this way to YOU right now, but honestly the people on here are freakin great!

Kylie...you said you posted several times about needing a ride. I looked at your older posts. None were ones you started yourself. Your message about needing a ride was thrown in the middle of people having a conversation already so they probably just skipped over it. Also, someone else needed a camping spot and you offered to swap part of your space for a ride....so why would people think you still need help? Then you post the "seriously disappointed" thread. Maybe if you had started one yourself mentioning the willing to trade some camping space or ride people would've been more inclined to help. Again, most people don't want strangers hitching a ride with them....just saying.

Kylie, you'll find just about every thread degenerates into talk about beer....
I still haven't forgotten about you - life has been crazy-busy :) Have you had any luck finding a ride yet?
It's okay, I understand!
All threads seem to get off topic....
I was also being quite serious in that statement.

Ha ha Rose, you just don't want security on the lookout for you :D (you know I'm kidding)

Then you shouldn't have named the thread "seriously disappointed". Doesn't exactly start you off on the right foot with people who you are ASKING TO DO YOU A FAVOR. And news flash, this is not a PAID service...we don't owe you anything!! And if you are disappointed that people won't allow a STRANGER into their car then I question your judgement.
There I go, bringing a thread back on topic! Its like I am bizarro honkytonkangel!!! LOL! ;)

I feel like we've entered a parallel universe or something, but that's like totally opposite.....:D:D

It's comfy over here in the corner. We have a couch and snacks. Want a chip?
