Hey! this is my first year attending and me and my 2 friends wont be able to make it until friday evening. we have camping, i am just wondering if we will be at a disadvantage and really far from the concert area by coming so late? Thanks!!!... Also, how close is the camping to the concert area? like a far walk? and this question may have already been answered but is it free to park if you purchased a camping spot??

If you are in the General 'tent only' area, it is quite a walk regardless of what time you get there. The walk to the venue from the General 'tent only' area is approx. 1/4 mile. Bring your hiking shoes. =o)
Anyone can correct me if I'm wrong.

Wait, only a 1/4 mile? That's walkable in 5 minutes and that's at a slow pace girlie! You can walk a mile in 20 minutes easy. :D from the campgrounds last year it was at least half mile from what I remember, but I could be wrong.

Well, a 1/2 mile is 5 miles after 2 days of being in a festival! you will walk miles once in there going from stage to stage, eating, bathroom, drink trips etc! It was funny watching people walking barefooted (me included) back to EDII.
If you are RV'ing it and arrive then..from experience, if in EDII you will be further away (and boy do I mean further)
If in EDI you end up closer...go figure. It is the way they let the RV's in.

Is EDII further than the camping forum? I remember that walk, and I can handle that. Actually what am I saying, I run 3 miles a day, I can handle the walk, I'm just more worried about my MOM handling the walk!

Well, depending on the part of EDII you are on...if closer to Monroe street, yes, far. I camped about 5 spots into EDII from the dirt road that you cross to go into EDI at the furthest point (next to the polo bar on the map) I arrived in the top 20 RV's on a Thurs eve. They part you there first, then move you back towards the check in. I swore I would never park in EDII again. I ended up were I couldnt even walk for a week..hurt my back. and I am a pretty healthy person, just couldnt handle that walk. You know what she can handle...pay one of the bike guys that have the carriages on them.

It can't be further than where we had to park last year! Holy cow that was a walk especially come Sunday night. Like yall said, 1/2 mile feels like 5 miles on Sunday night.

I think the question was answered - the earlier you park your RV the closer you are to the festivities? Please advise and confirm old knowledgable ones! : )

No, in previous years apparently they fill the BACK first and then the front (closer to the entrance). Sounds like getting there later is actually better in that aspect, although I'm hoping they change that this year!

I was one of the first to arrive in El Dorado I last year thinking I would get to park right up by the event. Boy was I wrong. They made me park as far away as possible from the event. Felt like I was being punished for getting their early. This year I plan on getting there on Saturday so I can get a better spot. I just hope they don't change their mind this year. Does anyone know how the order went in 2007 and 2008? Countrygurl, do you have any input? Thanks.

I know nothing about ED, but in the last two years they switched the placements for tent campers. My first year we arrived early and got stuck way in the back. We arrived about the same time last year and were placed closer to the entrance to the walkway to get to the festival.
