View Full Version : Why are so many artists being put on then taken off??

Not sure why this is happening but ticket purchases happen when people see artists they like and when we later find out they have been removed it puts a downer on the excitement of the event... I bought an RV spot and have been trying to rally people to go and soooo many people are not interested because they have been at Stagecoach in the past and they see ticket prices drastically going up and the amount of "known" artists and acts going down...wtf? If this doesn't change I am not sure I can argue with everyone that I have come in contact with that say it's not worth it anymore...

the ticket prices didn't go that much and there are alot of known artist and if you don't see the person you wanted to see then sell the tickets and don't go.

I think what RKXX is mainly saying, which I agree to, is that you buy tickets based on the line up, and with all the changes, it dissapoints some people.

A huge bummer is the NON notification of the ticket price hike this year. I know that many friends have stated they won't be going again to SC. The price hikes, the ticket selling caos, camping price hikes that more than doubled, the "anyone who has a ticket can get into the camping area" issue, the change of artists etc. I guess I was so happy with the first two years at SC, and it has just gone down for me. I am still going, more for the party than the venue...and I think that is a lot of peoples reason...NOT ALL...just some, and I think that is a sad thing. But I am going to make the best of it, going with some awesome friends that I have met and made at SC and will be lifetime friends! Whoo hoo

At least Kymery got my point.....btw 30% not that much?? If your cable bill went up 30% and they removed channels from you that you watched, you would be singing a different tune!

are you talking about the ga tickets? weren't they at $99 for several months? they start out cheap, there is layaway, too. no reason to hold off on buying them so if you wait too long and the price goes up, which people were warned about - even if they don't give the exact date, then that is not the promoters fault.

and why not yell at the artists who drop out? stagecoach can't control that. i am pretty sure it's not the promoters telling these bands they are off the lineup...

I agree with Cooter's post (uh - yikes!)

I'm a single Mom with a hugely strained budget, but even I was able to eek out the layaway payments for 3 GA tickets this year....and (with ChevGirl's help) even managed to get in on the RV party!

I signed on for the major artists - I don't go to many concerts so to get the ability to see FOUR huge names in one spot and be introduced to many artists that I'd normally not listen to - AND to get to sample tons of great BBQ AND to party with some wonderful people....well, it's definitely worth it!!

I just wish it wasn't so crowded...

I agree with both Kymery's and Cooter's postings.

I'm curious to see what the camping will be like with the changes this year. While I'm glad we don't have to figure out #s of wristbands in advance - but I am hoping that there is some sort of check-in system (wristbands issued when you first go to your site?) so that not just anyone who has a ticket can just wander through the camp sites after the show lets out...?

But I also agree about the GA ticket prices - totally reasonable if you plan early enough - some shows cost about the same - for ONE headliner! It is a bummer though when someone you were looking forward to can't do the show after all. But for me, the whole experience with friends is what makes it an awesome weekend!!!

I didn't even think of it....I figured this year I was not going to be able to visit my Camping or Tenting friends...because I have a festival ticket am I allowed in? I got hooked up last year for my visits (thank you Mommie) and we all had a good time saying howdy, taking some pics and having a couple of drinks together.

Hopefully you all don't think I'm just anyone.

Love ya girl (MUAH).

Didn't mean to sound so hostile or anything. You tenters and RV'ers need to hook us hotelers out. Not sure who is doing what this year but I would love to visit and say hay for awhile....along with Mommie, DeGee, USC, FF, Miss B and her mommie etc, etc, etc. Again, I don't know everyone's schedule this year but some of good peeps want to come and join the rest of you peeps for some afterhours SC fun before we head back to our very boring rooms.

Of course not!!! What I really meant was I didn't like the idea of 100s or 1000s of people who were not RVing or Tenting wandering through the campground just becauase they can.

YOU we WANT there! :)

I TOTALLY agree with this Kitty! I hope they DO give us RV'rs wristbands. It would surely help the crowds.

I'm wondering if they did this because some people were coming and just stayng at the RVs all day - so maybe they didn't have festival tickets.

Also I dont think it will be that bad - I think most people will expect to need a special ticket/wristband to get in and will therefore stay away. As long as there isnt a sign saying ALL WELCOME I think we will be ok :0)

Hell ya girl!!! I know you were not talking about me, but don't make the security so tight that you all can't have some of us "fun" people sneak in for a visit or two.

You have been so gracious, inviting me to hang with your family and friends at pre-concert dinners and such. THANK YOU.

Yeah..ONE RV but you can get anyone you want in the RV as long as they have a Festival ticket. So, I was saying IF, and IF, they go back to the old way, and just give us 4-6 passes PER RV...then I would still have one for her.

I am just having a hard time understanding why they dont have a handle on this RV pass per person thing. I am sure when they made the decision to sell tickets, they had to know what is going on. This is a month away, and people really need to know what to do about it. Ok..Ok...so "give them time" but really, this isn't rocket science...let us know. We paid for our RV tickets.. so let us know what comes with it and how/what/when/where etc...

OK done venting

They never..and I mean NEVER, in the past three years of going, asked to see my "camping pass" to get me into the RV lots. Good and bad I guess. We just walked right in.

I don't know about that....one year I had a tent camping ticket and they wouldn't let us into the RV area....that was very annoying!!

I do think it's time to tell us what's going on with the camping tickets this year. Lots of us need to plan for the arrival of our group....who is spread over various counties.

I hope it's not 4-6 per RV. because if so, we are screwed! We have 7 per RV PLUS 5 tent campers!

Since they said you can put as many people on a space as you can fit, I don't see how they can limit the bracelets....

I think somehow they are tracking based on your concert ticket....maybe in order to get the bracelet, you have to show both your SC ticket *and* some sort of camping "pass"?

Sure would be nice if they'd just TELL US what's going on ;)

to me it sounds like your festival pass will also be your camping pass. the person with the actual camping ticket shows up and gets the spot and everyone else staying in that same spot can arrive at their leisure. just my best guess.

Yeah, considering most the threads end up talking about wristbands (or alchohol). Its really gunna have to be something simple. I personally think the best thing is when the first person checks in they just ask how many are in your group and dish out that amount. Doesnt seem like they care anymore how many people are in the RV, so why not leave it up to us. Either way, post something on the main page or on here so it is clear. (You know they are reading this) Thats my $0.02

since every camper needs a festival ticket this year and anyone attending the festival is allowed into the camping area i am assuming one wristband will cover everything. show up to camping, show your festival ticket, get your wristband...simple as that.

That would be silly though. Then EVERYbody (all 60,000 people) in the festival could come into the campgrounds. Makes no sense. I agree with KuznEdy, they should ask the ticket holder how many wristbands they need and let them divvy them out. Simplest solution I thnk!

Actually yes...we had many friends wanting in and they couldn't. Lots of partying is going on after the festival. No..NOT all..but lots do want into the campgrounds after the festival.

I am not happy that the artist's decrease evey year as well. I have been to SC 08, 09 and adding 10. SC 08 was the best!! This year not so much. We are still RVing in El Dorado 1, with more friends being added to the Counrty Music RV Party every year. Next year, if the line up continues on this path, we are headed to County Thunder in Arizona. We will have a great time this year and make the best of it regardless.
