View Full Version : What To Bring ~ 2010

This thread seemed to be helpful to new campers last year so I thought I'd revise and re-post.

One outfit per day. One pair of comfy shoes and one back-up. Do yourself a favor and leave the cutsie shoes at home. Your feet will thank you for it. Flip flops are fine if you're used to walking VERY FAR distances in them, they're also good for the shower trailer. A lightweight jacket for late evening. Light layers works best. Uber hot during the day, freaky cold after dark
Pain reliever - Aspirin, Tylenol, Advil, etc.
Batteries - camera, flashlight or lantern, etc.
Sunscreen
Lotion - also sunburn pain relieving spray and sore muscle rub
Seating - blanket, beach towel, folding chair, etc. (just make it something you can easily carry)
Hat
Sunglasses - eye drops are good if the dusty wind will be a problem for your eyes
First Aid - couple of Bandaids and some Neosporin will do the trick
Shade - if you're camping in the Forum this is a MUST
Camping? - tent, sleeping bag or blanket, pillow, chair, cooler, extra tent stakes and mallet
Food - think about the time you'll actually be in camp and plan accordingly
Beverages - again, how long will you actually be in camp, WATER, WATER, and more WATER
Wet Wipes
Toilet Paper
Toilet Seat Covers - forgot this one, thanks Ladies for the reminder.
Personal Hygiene - do yourself a favor and put your deodorant in a baggie in the cooler. Mine melted on my sleeping bag last year
Lighting - we didn't need our lanterns in camp in the Forum because of the stadium lights, but, you do need something for after dark bathroom trips
Red Cups, etc. - stuff to eat your food on, with and drink your beverages out of
Bandana - you'll want to get it wet to help keep you cool inside the venue
Medications
Camera - film, extra cards, etc.
Money - for souvenirs, food, beverages and water in the venue, ice in the campgrounds, etc.
Tickets
Directions
Great Attitude
Lip Balm w/Sunblock
Back up prescription eyeglasses and repair kit
Trash Bags
Paper Towels
Backpack
Extra contact lenses
Ear Plugs - Not everyone wants to stay up til dawn partying.
Hand Sanitizer Thanks Janell24!
Sewing Kit w/ Scissors
Identification

I have a luggage cart that folds up that I got from Walmart. It can hold up to 200 pounds and I use it to bring my stuff from the car to the campsite.

Less is more. Look at how long you'll be away from home. Ask yourself what you NEED for that time frame knowing you'll be camping, walking, in the heat, etc. If you can't say for certain you'll use it, seriously consider leaving it behind.

Leave your jewelery and valuables at home. Come prepared to have everything you bring get lost. It will help with the packing process to have to consider that what you're putting in the bag won't come back....

Please take a picture of your contact info if you have a digital camera so if you lose it, lost and found can contact you to come get it. or whoever finds it if they are nice can do so too. - Thanks Countrygurl!

DO NOT put your ticketmaster tickets in your car. They will turn black and be ruined by the sun....I have heard this doesn't necessarily happen, but maybe just don't take a chance?

If you're driving more than an hour or so, get your car serviced. Also arrange with someone at home to have spare keys and directions to the venue in case you need to be rescued because you lost your keys or your car broke down.

Thanks to all our Stagecoach Veterans that contributed to this last year and will do so again this year. We rock!

eeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!

I can attest to the ticketmaster tickets turning black in the sunlight and heat. Thankfully it was an already used ticket stub, but it does happen!

Youtube videos? Just 'go advanced', click 'youtube' and insert between the brackets everything in the url AFTER the '=' sign. Like so:

I don't think I WANT to pee standing up. Kinda creeps me out. LOL:p

There is an incredibly helpful product called "Go Girl" which allows the ladies to pee without ever sitting down. Yes, you can do the duty standing up. It's a crushable funnel-like item made out of medical silicone. Rinse it, and squash it back into it's carring tube. The tube is just about the size of a roll of quarters. And be assured urine is sterile. That's a fact, not fiction.

I've been to Japan, China and Italy where they have squat pots, and wouldn't go without my Go Girl ever again.

Can be bought online at Magellan's.com online or go to a store called It's In The Bag in Palm Desert. The store sold 1,500 of them after a good article in the Desert Sun newspaper. Costs $10 or less.

This is not a joke. Ladies, we can have a better Stagecoach weekend.

Kymery
02-05-2010, 06:32 AM
Hahah..I checked it out. It is true...but you may want to fix that web addy. There is no apostrophe in it Magellan's.com.

Problem would be, where would I rinse it off to put back into the storage tube? Def not the drinking fountain...ewwwwww

Towel for the showers! (I had a checklist for last year, and STILL managed to forget my towel and my camping chair - ha!)

If camping - we've had a smaller tent for all our clothes, etc. and have brought a luggage lock for that tent. (A combination one works nicely in case there are several people needing to get in/out of the "supply tent")

They don't allow beer or alcohol in the camping area, but DO have vendors selling it AND yes, they sell ice (be prepared to pay a lot). I would bring in ice chests with ice if you will need a lot.

Tenting or RV? No liquor in either...but...if you have an RV I am sure you will get it in. Only heard of a handfull of the thousands that are in RV's that got searched.

Yes, there is ice at the camping store. Not cheap of course, if you have a car you can always just make a trip down the street to the store and buy it for 1/4 the price. Someone is always making that trip.

I use my label maker to make itty-bitty labels for just about everything I take into the venue - I put my cell phone number on everything from our water bottles to our sunglasses! Same for cameras, too!

I put my cell phone number on the label for my son's cell phone - and put his cell phone number on MY cell phone.

If you're bringing kids, they have a booth in the Kid's Zone to register your child and put a bracelet on them. I recommend this - even for the pre-teens. It doesn't take much for a kid to get confused or disoriented in the twilight/dark that comes on very fast!

Another thing I saw for parents with smaller kids (under 5) was that they took a marker (or some sort of hard-to-remove pen) and wrote the parent's cell phone number on the kid's arm or leg. Have you ever tried to get info out of a hysterical lost child? I thought this was a great idea!

And I agree - I can't hear the ZBB song "Whatever It Is" without thinking about OBCB2613, too!!!

Caution: only available online from what I can tell, and red is sold out - only available in green. Shipping takes about 10 days...ordered mine yesterday and they said it should be at the store around 3/29/10, so still plenty of time to order!

Also, it may only hold 150 lbs., but if we have a couple of them (or other wagons, too) we should be okay :)

Craigslist... Probably get one for like 10 or 20 bucks. Ive seen them all over craigslist from parents who paid the $70 and used them twice. Just spend $20 and use it once, store it in your garage, move it around about ten times, pile more crap on it, clean out your garage next year and realize you dont need it and sell it on craigslist for $20.

You'll never bring enough cash. I end up stopping at the ATM myself. MANY vendors to spend your money at. BBQ booths, t-shirt booths, all kinds of "stuff" booths. I hate to admit this, but the majority of my money goes towards WATER. You will need LOTS to keep you healthy and safe in that heat. I buy one bottle to drink and another to pour over myself. PLEASE have fan misters again throughout and bring back that garden hose fountain.

Those are good checklist... I especially like the check for "pets walked and happy". Like you can really find a dog thats not happy to be going on a road trip with you.

Also bring a small broom and dust pan cuz that dried up grass gets all up in the campers. Carpet, rugs, fake grass, blankets, towels etc... are key to have infront of your door to try and keep the dead grass out. That grass stays with the RV for months, and you renters might be charged more to clean it out (i dont know what your policy is for sure, but i know that i would charge extra for that)

Also, for motorhomes not so much trailers, a good thing to have is one of those windshield covers (interior or ext.). If your pointed south your gunna heat up your rig quick. Towels will work in a pinch but will get dirty.

Defintaly on the broom...damn grass gets in everything!

Remember pets are not allowed..but hell, either is liquor. Lots of dogs there, just be sure you can keep em cool during the heat while in the festival. I saw a few people being told their dogs had to leave...but lots stayed.

Tan or burn? lol Just bring a light sweatshirt in a backpack

Well, my first year at SC I used that spray sunscreen from a can and when I sprayed the back of my arms, apparently I was really close and didn't rub it in. So the next day walking in through security, I notice one of the security dudes laughing with my friends once I passed. I had white stripes down the back of each arm and the rest was RED.

Last year I was extra diligent and still managed to get burn.

I know it's not healthy, etc. but my burns turn into a tan!

just a few questions, since this is my 1st time.

the original message seemed to be geared towards they people staying on the grounds, my gf and i are staying in Palm Springs.

that being said, maybe you can answer a few questions...

1. can you bring in a cooler? not so much with FOOD, but with water. id rather not pay 3 or 4 bucks for water when i can get a 24 pack for that, and maybe bring 12 one day, 12 the next.

2. do they complain about backpacks? id like to make sure that i have sunscreen, camera, chap stick, meds, etc, anything i may feel i need (within reason of course) in it

3. in and out. since we are driving to and from the festival, if either of us need to leave for whatever reason to go back to the hotel or whatever, is this aloud? do they strap a wrist band on you or stamp your hand so this is a possibilty?

4. bathrooms. are they port-a-potty or an actual building, like say at a beach. i ask this, cause id like to make sure i bring some TP if its porta potties and possibly some extra hand sanatizer for the toilet seat if sitting down might be issue. most place that have building bathrooms tend to have upkeep during events, porta-potties not so much.

5. im PRETTY SURE i read on the main page parking is free, but the front page is so convulted and not very streamlined, im not really sure. if im driving in, is parking free?

6. ATMS (stupid since im sure there will be LOL) on site?

thanks.

OH also, let me ask... can anyone tell me how sales works there?

IE does each act have its own merchandise booth? or is it one huge booth? or do the acts not sell merchandise? or in fact do you have to be one of the bigger acts to get a merchandise area?

thanks.

1. no coolers
2. medium backpacks okay, they do have locker rentals
3. no in/outs for non-campers
4. mostly portapotties, they do say they have flush toilets but I didn't see any last year :)
5. free parking - but be prepared to walk. a lot.
6. cash only - I think there are ATMS but I'm sure they come with a hefty fee

stores - one huge vendor setup by front gate for most/all acts, individual booths inside selling everything from trinkets to hats to misters...everything!

OK as far as I know u cant bring coolers

They dont complain about backpacks - but they check them . . .

Only campers get in and out access . . .

Bathrooms are porta-potties . . .

not sure about parking - can someone else chime in here . . .

Yes ATMs are avaliable . . .

I remember the artists merch was all together . . .

Not only was all artist merch together, but you have to buy it on the day that artist is performing. An act that plays on Saturday will not have their stuff to buy the next day and vice versa.

This is very important information. First year I really wanted a George Strait t-shirt but the lines were sooooooo long that I said I would wait and buy it early Sunday when they first opened...but NOOOOOO!!!

Also If you want a Stagecoach t-shirt (especially for the ladies) they sell out right away.

My line of defense...get in, run to t-shirts (before sell out), run to BBQ (before sell out).

Super Smart! I've been to so many venues where there is not toilet paper... let alone toilet seat covers. I'm going to be sure to bring all of the above. Thank you for putting this together!
