View Full Version : New Music Recommendations wanted...
I've got $15 burning a hole in my iTunes account....
The easiest reach would be to get the new Carrie Underwood... but I'm wanting to "discover" someone new. Someone from the smaller name acts that'll be at SC this year. Kinda like how I found Halfway To Hazard a couple years ago.
SO... of the small names on the bill, WHO have you heard, love and would recommend?

Old 97's are incredible. But you might not like them if you like Carrie Underwood. I would suggest "Too Far To Care" LP.

You can also go to itunes and preview the songs so you get a 30 second glimpse at the songs before wasting your hard earned $15.
On the other hand, if you don't have a lot of Phil Vassar, I would definitely recommend familiarizing yourself more with him, he puts on an amazing show live. You can also see him this Sunday in Santa Clarita, I'm thinking about going.

Check out Randy Rodgers Band. They have a couple really great songs. I was just introduced to him this past weekend :-)

Excellent choice, also try Aaron Watson, an awesome Texas Guy. I just love good ole Texas music...wish it was out here more, instead of this "alternative country crap"

As if I don't already own everything Jason's ever released... :p:D;)
Thanks for all the great recommendations! I could preview every snippet in iTunes, but there's so much musical knowledge on this board that I wanted to hear what others already loved. I hope the fact that I like Carried Underwood doesn't preclude me from having the ability to appreciate all types of music?!? I love everything from traditional 40's swing to 80's metal (no rap for me though and I can't say I enjoy jazz even though that alone probably makes me musically lame... but i just don't.) :p:cool:

Too funny... I totally agree. I have quite a bit of Phil Vassar and think he's a great live show too. Very much looking forward to seeing him at SC10. I love the fact that he does "bye bye" and "im alright" in his show - both tunes he wrote, but we're used to hearing from JoDee Messina. Super fun piano player to watch. :D

omg - i love their sound! very unique... it's like The Replacements meets Stray Cats meets Social Distortion.
